I lasted one night here. They have a 2 day cancellation policy and couldn't refund our money so we paid for 3 nights we couldn't use which was really disappointing considering we couldn't sleep at all here. For the price, which isn't cheap for Bali standards we really expected a better degree of liveability in the room. We rented the bungalow that was only fitted out with a small ceiling fan which was NOT adequate in the heat. The room was just so hot, even at night and we didn't sleep at all! In addition to that the bedding was wet and damp and the mattress' stained and super hard. There were huge spiders in the room and mosquitos everywhere. You had the choice of closing the bungalow up and reducing the bugs or opening it up and reducing the heat. Just awful. Everyone we spoke to had a really relaxing time but they must have had the airconditioned rooms with the dry bedding and the not ridiculously rock-like mattress.

Make sure if you leave the hotel at night you bring a torch too because that pitch black 20 minute walk through the rabid monkey forest of death is the most terrifying experience you'll ever have. You can hear them but you can't see them. You can't also see the edge of the paths that go over ravines and water too. It was like that temple run game for realsies.

Some positives tho!
water cooler in the room was excellent
bathroom was lovely and spacious even though the water pressure was non-existent in the shower
the staff were so friendly and beautiful
the spa was the most wonderful massage in Ubud
the breakfast was very nice
the pool was lovely
the grounds were lovely

but
will NEVER stay here again really value SLEEP

Also they only provide WIFI in the restaurant and reception areas and it gets switched off at 10pm which is really inconvenient.

Room Tip: Do not stay in a bungalow fitted with only a fan it is not adequate, the rooms are not designed well...

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is near the Monkey Forest and is an easy 20 minute walk into Ubud. We opted for an AC room, which was a good choice as Ubud can have very warm nights. The grounds were really lovely; mature trees and paths wandering through to the organic garden in the back, where most of the food is grown for the cafe. The pool area is very nice, although they could put a few more lounge chairs around the pool, particularly in the shaded areas. The food is inconsistent in the restaurant. We had a wonderful, tasty lunch, but our chocolate cake with ice cream was awful. Breakfast is average. I particularly loved the bamboo straws used in the drinks, what a great idea! I would definitely return to this beautiful hotel.

Myself and my partner stayed at Swasti Eco cottages for three days. We stayed in the Lola traditional bungalow, which was lovely and spacious, with a little porch and a very cool outdoor bathroom. The restaurant made delicious food, set amongst the backdrop of the organic gardens. The pool was very clean and well shaded. Myself and my partner had a couples massage by the great spa staff, and I also had a lovely pedicure while I sipped on chai tea and watched the rain pour down outside. It was truly blissful!

The location of Swasti is also ideal, as it is near the monkey forest but away from the main street of Ubud, so it is very peaceful while only a short walk from the action. The resort was also great value, at $60 AUD a night during low season.

The staff were absolutely wonderful and organised all our day trips to the nearby temples, white water rafting on the Ayung river, and bike hire. Out of all the places we stayed in Bali and the Gili's, I enjoyed Swasti and Ubud the most.

Room Tip: The traditional bungalows are more private and very spacious, but don't have AC - it is colder i...

Really lovely people, delicious food, beautiful room. No air conditioning in the room we stayed in, "Wayan," but there was a totally decent ceiling fan which kept us plenty cool at night. And there's a very nice pool, super relaxing spot to cool off in. The bathroom was so airy and artfully done - it got such wonderful light in the morning. I think we were near the kitchen because we could hear a lot of people coming and going, and could smell different things cooking throughout the day, but we didn't mind at all - very nice aromas. Location was great for us, we don't like being right in the middle of busyness, but like being able to walk to the center of things. We were glad we brought a headlamp for walking home at night though. Loved the gardens and the flowers that they decorated the room & bathroom with. Nice massage at the spa. Loved having a big jug of filtered water in the room - much greener than buying new bottles all the time.

Was a perfect place to stay for people who love nature and ecological living, the service was fine and very friendly as well as helpful staff. Safe, quiet and huge of green garden, the wooden cottages has mixture style of Javanese and Balinese rustic style.

We started our trip to Bali and the Gili Islands here last year in February/ March 2012 and it was perfect! Amazing little houses, very friendly people, good service, very well maintained, large organic garden. It was bliss, relaxing and enjoying Ubud. Just outside the busy town so a perfect refuge. Everything I expect from Bali. A very good place to stay with little children.

The place is somehow super chill. The rooms, the restaurant, the people, the pool, the garden, it's all part of the chillness. This place is in a great position, because it's close to ubud (in meters), but far (in quietness) at the same time. Definitely a place to return!
