“WILL BE BACK!!!”
Reviewed 29 November 2011

I just stayed here early Nov 2011 and it was the most fantastic place ever. I got the most beautiful view of the rice paddies. My room in the back was an upstairs unit which I loved. A spacious lanai off the front and the back. A separate bathroom and shower. The room was huge and the bed was gorgeous and felt very comfy. It is centrally located right in the middle of Monkey Forest so I could walk to most things. I loved the ducks that come daily and feed in the rice paddies. The staff was very helpful and gracious and my room always spotless clean. The breakfast in the morning was very yummy, eggs, pancakes, fruit and toast. I absolutely loved this place and will be back soon!!! Check out the Laughing Buddha bar a few doors down for some great music.

Room Tip: Get a room in the back. nice walk and view.

I stayed three nights at the Sri Bungalows in downtown Ubud. My room was rated a Deluxe Room and I certainly thought it was one notch above the Standard Room, which was plainer and had no view, except of a cement wall.

My Deluxe Room had a wonderful view of rice paddies that I could easily see right in front of my bedroom window, in fact, while sitting on my king-size bed. Oh, how delighted I was to see that view with several friendly farmers tending to their precious crop and a plethora of ducks running around the rice paddies. It could have been a movie scene right out of Pearl Buck’s “The Good Earth.”

The room itself was fairly large, with lamp tables on each side of the bed (one lamp was broken), a pretty stand at the end of the bed to hold my suitcase, an adjoining enclave with a desk and chair quite suitable for placing one’s laptop (free WiFi right in the room), a color TV with satellite channels, a large mini-fridge stocked with beer and water (nominal extra charge for those goodies), and a good-size closet with oodles of coat hangers. Of course, the room was well air-conditioned – and the air conditioner was super quiet – great for a restful sleep.

The bathroom had a large tub with shower, sink and commode, with plenty of toilet tissue and clean towels plus tons of soap and shampoo in dispensers. The curtains over the bathroom window were a bit flimsy, so one could be seeing taking a bath or shower from the rice fields.

A secure sliding door with a lock opened out onto a very nice patio equipped with a round table, two cushioned chairs, a cushioned lounge chair, and a drying rack.

The bedroom, bathroom and patio were very clean and super quiet, which I appreciated very much, especially at night when I slept. Actually, my room was set back two blocks from the very noisy, horrendous Monkey Forest Street. I was so thankful for that; the Standard Rooms are closer to that awful street, so caveat emptor!

Breakfast was served from 7-10 am right next to the tiny reception desk. It was not a Hyatt Regency Hotel layout, but it was delicious and adequate.

Room Tip: Go for a Deluxe Room: quieter and superb view compared to a Standard Room

Reception area is a little dim, with only one person at the desk. Still, no problems checking in. This reception area also serves as the breakfast room. Breakfast in ok. Choice of egg or giant pancake. Both come with small plate of fresh fruit, coffee or tea.

Walk through reception and you enter a meticulously cared for garden path leading to rooms. Is is truly lovely and a haven. Ubud city is overrun with motorcycles, bad sidewalks, and shoddy building fronts and to enter this hotel garden area overlooking the rice paddies is most welcome.

Our room was modern, clean, and spacious. It was a standard room booked through a travel specialist and was the cheapest the agent offered. It was perfect and we so enjoyed the ducks feeding after the rice was newly picked.

Lots of restaurants nearby up and down the street, but it seemed that the better restaurants with more to offer were on the other main street, Raya Ubud.

Tea was served on your balcony every afternoon. It was served in a thermos so it would be hot when you returned. Lovely to sip tea and look at the rice paddies and pool.

Pool was clean and easily accessibe. Don't look for towels - they are given out at the reception desk. A few lawnchairs available; never had a problem.

Would recommend to anyone. If I returned, I would try to get a delux bungalow at the very back. All in all, a very nice stay.

Very central hotel, yet very peaceful.
Hotel grounds are a little tropical oasis, just beautiful, especially when you walk through the entrance it is so tranquill, and keep walking through past the pool area and walk through to the rice fields to the deluxe bungalows. We had a delux bungalow, the room was large and very clean. Was very unique on the rice fields and every morning watching the busy bebeks being called up from the river by the farmer, they were very entertaining!
Pool was very basic, but still enjoyable and quiet.
Breakfast was very average, you choose from a very limited list of poached egg, tomoto jaffel, egg jaffel, fruit, tea, coffee, but cafes were just a step outside the entrance anyways.

They were building more bungalows behind where our bungalows were down on the river, and a new pool with the new bungalows, was looking great!

I would stay here again, very clean, very relaxing stay, and very central, right on Monkey forest road.

Room Tip: Go for the deluxe bungalows at the back of the hotel!

Deluxe rooms are outstanding - located in the heart of Monkey Road this hotel is soooo very quiet. Once you step past the entrance of the hotel you find yourself in an oasis surrounded by paddy fields. I had paid for a deluxe room but arrived very late and was given a standard room - which was pretty ordinary and the location made it impossible to open the curtains unless you wanted the whole world to see in - but the next morning they moved me straight away into a super deluxe room. Not sure of the difference between deluxe and super deluxe as they both looked equally as new and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was pretty average but ok and to be honest better than the usual buffet in other tourist hotels. Great location for Ubud without the hordes of other tourists staying with you. Garden areas lovely and pool was clean. Would definately stay there again.

The best rooms are in the back, new ones but a longer walk to the street. All Quiet. Nice pool . Lovelyviews from all cabins in the 20's I think these are Super Deluxe, but worth it. NEW but Balineese. There are 2 new cabling down in back....long easy walk ...by the stream with ducks. I'd choose 25 cause it has good views and lovely , so are
20 - 25. There are family units too but this is not really a family resort. Breakfast was good but only up at the front .
Tea was put on your balcony . Nice. CLEAN . AC's good , need to clean off their exterior units for better operation.
Filters pretty clean , I always check them. Water pressure in the far back ,n ot that great but the whole place is beautiful with a GIGANTIC rice field view ! and lush gardens even in the front where the clean older but immaculate rooms are located. Perfect staff ! the best. Near everything !

Room Tip: All are excellent and clean. rooms in the back 20 - are on the rice paddy view. Newer and more...

Our bungalow was clean, good bed, good breakfast. Lack of privacy because there are no windows in the bungalows, it's just some plastic to keep the rain out. Can be very noisy when people come and go at night or early in the morning.
