“Just fine.”
Reviewed 16 September 2012

This hotel has many pluses. It is in Central Ubud on Monkey Forest Rd, so there are many restaurants nearby and plenty of shops plus of course nearby the Monkey Forest. It is also within walking distance of the Ubud Market which is an absolute must visit place for clothes, placemats, watches and all manner of nic nacs. Especially good if you are looking for a bargain and like to haggle or just wanting to see all the local fresh produce on offer.

The accommodation at Sri Bungalows is simple and clean and more than adequate. We had 2 rooms upstairs both with ensuites for 3 nights for our family of 2 adults and 2 children. The boys ages 13 and 11 had one double room and we had the other. Not suitable for elderly or disabled as only stairs available for the first floor rooms. Breakfast which was included in the tariff was fairly ordinary but enough to get you started for the day. The staff were fine but seemed like they may have been a little jaded by all the tourists they must see each day and so were not quite as warm as we had experienced elsewhere. Many of them had basic English so that also may have been a factor in their ability to help us with information. There are no room safes and the safe they have for guests at the Reception area is very small so forget asking them to store cameras or anything large. Another bonus is that there is a pool which was great for our kids after a day of seeing the sites. Free internet is also available at computers in the restaurant area.

This place was just fine for us especially given we were hardly in our rooms except to sleep. I would return to Sri Bungalows if we planned a similar trip where we were out and about almost day. This is not a place I wanted to loll around at but it was pleasant, clean, comfortable, well located and more reasonably priced compared to many other places I had looked at in central Ubud. We stayed at Sri Bungalows during the high season and it was certainly not inexpensive. In the low season it would probably have been 50% cheaper and like other properties in the low season, represent better value.

We stayed here in June 2012. It has a GREAT location, really central. We stayed in the 2 storey family room at the back. very spacious, upstairs 2 doubles and downstairs another double. Huge bathroom with bath and shower and nice views too. It was quite affordable. Breakfast was included and was pretty good too. We didn't have other meals but the kids had room service with the nanny and they really enjoyed it all and it very really cheap. The only issue we had was that on our last morning there was a gross smell in the bathroom but as we were going i didn't mention it. i would happily stay here again!

We stayed here during our recent bali trip. This was our third time in bali so have seen plenty of places. The room here for the price was fantastic value. We had a super deluxe room and the location overlooking the rice paddies was great. Also extremely central. We will be back.

The hotel is quite long but not large. Front is the reception + restaurant. Check in was fast and you get a welcome drink. The restaurant, well, we only had breakfast there which was simple but good and generous portions. Then you have all the bungalows. Ours was right on the swimming pool... Both good and bad. The pool is nice though small. Bali can be quite "cold" in July so don't expect to swim after 5pm - it's cold!! 8.30am on saturday we were woken up by workers who just started to bring lamps on a tree in front of our door, until 9.30am, and then stopped to start again in the afternoon.... What a poor organization.... The back is having better bungalows, with rice field views and the spa... I encourage you to go to the spa, tariff is really affordable and its such a nice spa we had... Location is real convenient in Ubud. Central and easy access to Monkey Forest which is lovely (beware of naughty monkeys getting aggressive with bananas!). Bedrooms are quite humid and we could not get rid of humidity, but I dont blame it on the hotel. It is very basic, no luxury there.
So long story short, ask for a bungalow in the back, dont swim too late and go for the spa!

We moved in here yesterday, and we are extremely impressed. We have stayed in several places over the past month. This is our 6th Bali property. So long as you're paying around $50usd, you should be alright. But at Sri, you are realllllly alright!

We love:

1. Location. Smack dab in the middle of monkey forest road.

2. Bed. Feels like a tempurpedic. Easily the best bed I've encountered in Bali.

3. Quiet. Soooo lovely and quiet. No noisy kecak dances or loud bars.

4. Craftsmanship. Our room has carved doors and a beautiful bed canopy.

5. Price. $45usd/night for standard room. Can't beat that for this level of accommodation. Nice aircon, nice patio.

6. Hot water faucet, for the man who likes a nice shave.

7. Nice clean pool. Whole place is spotless, actually. Soft sheets, btw.

The catches:

1. Wifi is finicky and you constantly have to re-log in. They need to fix that.

2. Shower hot water comes and goes. That's par for this price point. Shower together to maximize.

3. Dimly lit room w no TV, but who hangs out in the room all day anyway?

4. No safe.

Otherwise, it's an awesome find. Free breakfast is a big plus, too. They keep your coffee cup full! You will not regret staying here, if you are budget conscious. This isn't 5 star, but it's pretty awesome. Enjoy!

I was worried because it looked like a cheapie on the internet. This place really is amazing value though. Location perfect in the middle of dozens of cafes. Very clean and nice to just hang out and read on your porch overlooking a mini rice field.
