We have just finished a 6 day stay here and had the most incredible time. It is easily the most magical and tranquil resort we have ever stayed in. The villas have this cool, 60's vibe with retro styled furniture and beautiful garden settings- awesome pools that are long enough for laps but you can also access straight from the bedrooms.

The team at the resort were so helpful and friendly - the drivers, housekeepers, restaurant team, spa ladies.....wonderful. The delicious breakfasts and cocktails looking out over the rainforest gorge were really memorable. We ( embarrassingly) lost count of how many spa treatments we had in the open air spa- great value and quality.

As other reviews have said - the resort feels private, tranquil and luxurious with everything you could possibly need. The ever present dragonflies ( where the name Chapung comes from) and butterflies that flit around the gardens make it feel like a jungle wonderland. We also had frog and gecko visitors in our open living areas that were super cute.

Thanks so much Chapung Se Bali - we can't wait to come back xxx

We (family of 4) stayed in Villa 2 for six nights, and can only say that overall, Chapung was an amazing place to stay. Stunning scenery from everywhere in the resort including the restaurant, massage salon, gardens and villa. We took advice and recommendations from staff on tour packages, private taxi for our day trip, and we used the hotel provided shuttle to downtown Ubud for meals and shopping. Two bedroom residence with split level pools is huge and very private. Rooms were very well appointed and looked after. The entire team from reception to restaurant staff, massage therapists and room attendants are very friendly, helpful, and look after you. All meals at the restaurant and room service were very well prepared, quality fresh meats with their own garden vegetables, and well priced. Definitely worth the price and thinking when we can go again.

Our family of 4 stayed in a 2-bedroom villa (No.1) in October and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this peaceful, stunning rural resort.
The villa is perfect for a family as it has it's own pool, garden and open air lounge/dining area. The bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds and mosquito nets. Master bedroom ensuite is outdoors, however second bedroom has an indoor bathroom. For families with young children please note that the bedrooms are located at opposite ends of your private garden and you have to walk outside past the pool to access them. Not a problem just useful to know.
We had breakfast in the restaurant and enjoyed the amazing setting with glorious views. Other meals were eaten at our villa which was very relaxing. Food and wine both good.
Spa was a real treat and I definitely recommend getting a treatment or two during your stay.
The resort is very private and peaceful and you really do get the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere even though Ubud town is only a 10 -15 minute drive away in the shuttle van. Definitely worth a trip to wander around the old market and eat in some of the lovely restaurants and local bars.
Chapung SeBali is one of the most stunning places we have stayed at. A must if heading to Bali!

Have done Bali to death, and was blown away by this place. Putri, one the managers, was the best proprietor I've ever come across. The villas were perfect. The 45 min walk to Ubud is stunning and a wonderful way heading back!

My husband and I stayed at Chapung at the end of October 2012. From the beginning till the end it was a wonderful experience. Chapung is a gorgeous and magical place to relax, they have done such a good job there. We loved the organic vegetable and butterfly garden in particular, where all the food is grown for the restaurant. The staff and it's services are excellent! The villas are beautiful, ours was decorated with Scandinavian design vintage furniture. There are 8 villas but you hardly ever meet or see the other guests which enhances the feeling of total privacy and relaxation. All in all a 5-star experience!

Peaceful. Relaxing. Excellent staff. It was everything that you wanted from a hotel. We loved it. My wife did not want to leave and when we are back in Ubud we will easily stay there again. If you have a chance to do a couple of trips, book it through the hotel,

My Husband and I stayed at Chapung se Bali early October 2012 - unfortunately it was only for 2 nights and we were extremely sad to leave!

The spacious Villa room, bathroom and changing room were all very modern. There are only 8 villas at Chapung se Bali, which makes one feel more at home. The staff were exceptionally helpful at all times.

Our villa had a lovely outdoor dining/lounge area with kitchenette and bar fridge (I think all the villas have the same setup). The best part of the villa was the private pool which is directly accessible from the bathroom and the main bedroom. The views from the villa - of the rice paddies and valley - are simply stunning.

We ordered room service the evening we arrived - the food was delicious and beautifully laid out. The only disappointment was that we were looking for some western food after 2 weeks of eating Asian food and ordered a pizza and hamburger to the room. The pizza was actually a pie pastry base with topping, and my Husband's burger was a fancy ciabatta bun - also very expensive and not quite what we wanted.
We had breakfast at the villa on the day we were leaving and the breakfast, which is included is buffet for the 'general' foods (rolls, cereals, fruit etc) and ala carte for the main meals so that everything is freshly made - this was a nice option to the standard scrambled eggs and sausages which you get at most hotels/resorts.

We had massages at the spa pavilion on 2 occasions - 60min full body massage on the 1 day and a lovely 45min foot/leg massage on the day we were leaving - I think the fact that we fell asleep during both massages speaks for itself!

On cleanliness: everything was satisfactory - bedding, bathrooms, toilet etc. The only problem I had, which is not quite a cleanliness issue, is the amount of ants that come under the bedroom sliding door (the 1 that opens onto the pool). perhaps some sort of sealing mechanism or pesticide can do the trick.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to any1 visiting Bali to stay in Ubud if you want to have a feel for the TRUE Bali. to walk amongst the rice paddies, to see the village life and culture. Many people head to Nusa Dua, which I have heard is very touristy with top-end hotels. However, staying in a villa in Bali is the ultimate way to experience it! Another nice touch at Chapung se Bali is the complimentary shuttle into central Ubud - gosh what a buzzing place that is! Filled with all sorts of art, crafts, souvenirs, food... everything!

Thanks all at Chapung se Bali for such a wonderful stay!
