I should not complain much about the location and hygiene because all comes with reasonable price. Yes, it is a bit remote, takes about 30 mins walk to reach Ubud central. But the place is unique and serene, very traditional indeed. The garden is beautiful. I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the morning. The breakfast was decent, I'd had worse. The staffs are kind and generous, although sometimes I had to ask for water because they forgot to bring any. The only negative thing I could say is the hotel lacks of cleanliness. The bathtub I got was rather dirty and the room was rough, but I didn't have any real trouble with those. I think if they could fix the problem with hygiene, this beautiful Balinese hotel is definitely worth staying.

We have stayed here for the past three nights ( extended by one night ) and we are perfectly happy with it. Contrary to other reviewers we found the staff very helpful and attentive. The rooms are more than adequate with space, plenty of hot water , a large flat screen TV (which we never watched ), a nice pool ( cleaned every morning) and a more than adequate breakfast. The gardens are nice and it is quiet with large balconeys . I really don't know what people expect for the price. It is certainly old fashioned but to me that it a plus , rather than some tricked up hotel . We looked at 6 other places in the areas and this was by far the best. Not outstanding but perfectly adequate and would happily stay here again.

Candidasa was a great choice to stay. Not crowded place, the beach and the seaside is beautiful. The hotels location is also very good, in the middle of the main road, but very quiet. The seafront room is very pleasant. You have view on the pool and the beach at the same time. The kitchen is also very good and not expensive. Would recommend for those who look for peaceful stay.

I just saw the past reviews and felt they were a bit unfair.
Yes this place is a bit rough around the edges but for the price is good value, with well kept grounds and a pool.
I had concerns from time to time and the boys here, though laid-back will always help you with any concern.
I have extended my stay here as I like the area , which has excellent warungs,( much cheaper than in town too) and have come to call it home. If you want a simple place with aircon and a pool away from the busy part of town but still within reach, this place is a good choice.
Though

Run-down, not-quite-clean, and smelly. Staff is completely lax and unresponsive - sometimes I felt invisible to them. The included breakfast is a joke. Bed's terrible. And quite a hike from downtown Ubud. I do not recommend

Dewa Bharata hotel Ubud is a dissapointgly poor hotel. Faded glory is how the hotel can be described best. We stayed in may 2010 two nights in the hotel. The hotel is set in a beautiful tropical garden with a public pool. The rooms are poor equipped. The dirty rooms have a poorly maintained bathroom, filthy, filthy, filthy. The hotel staff, young boys, are not helpful. The breakfast was very poor in a filthy open "restaurant".
