My partner and I stayed at the Samaya for 3 nights in May 2012. From the get-go, the service was brilliant. Our flight was 4 hours late and arrived at 2am in the morning where our driver was waiting the entire 4 hours and still managed to greet us with a smile.
We arrived and everything was just perfect. We were upgraded to the River view villa and I have never experienced something so stunning in all my travels. The room was immaculate and the service exceeded our expectations 10 fold. EVERYONE in the resort new our names and we were never left wanting anything. It was my partners birthday and the staff surprised him with a cake :)
Breakfast was absolutely delicious - the best scrambled eggs and freshly made bread I have every tasted. All the juices we ordered were freshly squeezed with any fruit you want and included in our breakfast. While we ate our breakfast, the resort manager came and introduced himself to us and really made us feel so welcome.
The plunge pool was exceptionally clean and an absolute delight. We could see the river from our room villa and it truely felt like we were in paradise.
We had breakfast overlooking the rice paddies which was absolutely stunning. We did not want to leave. Till this day we talk about the Samaya and how we miss it! We will definitely be back. It's certainly worth every cent!

In the Samaya Ubud the staff made us feel like king and queen.
It was the best choise as a part of our honeymoon!
We only stayed 2 nights, but they were fabulous.
Before we arrived I had contact with the manager to surprice my lady
With a spa and romantic dinner.
Unbelievable what they prepared!
They had set up a sofa on the riverside with a lot of candles for cocktail on sunset time,
After that we had private dinner, nice music and perfect service.
So romantic.
Thanks guys!

Complimentary afternoon tea over the river and a surprise birthday cake for my husband with a lovely singing of happy birthday. Spa is superb. We will be back!

My husband, two children (10 and 13) and I stayed at the Samaya Ubud for 5 nights.
From the moment we arrived we felt at home. We had one of these new "Royal Villas" which are huge and so beautiful decorated. Children were really happy to have such a big pool and room !.
We tried, all of us, the Spa and it was excellent. The Dinner at the Restaurant River was great.
I joined the "cooking lessons" with the chef and was very well organized and interesting. They take care about anything and the staff were always so friendly and helpful !!.
Stunning views and special mention to the Afternoon tea, which is just to die for ..
We will come back. Wonderful place to stay in.

If you're looking for a place to wind down, spend time with your loved one getting away from all the pressures of work, and romance on top of it all without that all superficiality, the Samaya Bali is it. The 3 nights spent was filled with little personal surprises which made every day beautiful. Greeted at the reception after a long drive to Ubud from the airport took away our weariness and the buggy ride down the hill to our villa was a nice change from the hustle and bustle of traffic at the airport. We can't help but notice the staff's attention to our personal needs, be it food, toiletries, spa etc....which is excellent. What we really appreciate is how accomodating the staff members are during our stay even with the changes in our schedules. Breakfast was heavenly and bread..muffins..and the afternoon tea are to die for. If you're wondering if they could help surprise your loved one with romance, yes, they could. I requested for a special dinner along the river with rose petals and left that to them in the reservations. We were surprised on that lovely evening with lighted candles wrapped around coconut leaves..a hundred of them..beautifully placed. Will we come back? Definitely!

My husband and I stayed at the Samaya Ubud for 5 nights whilst on our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived we felt like royalty. Greeted at reception with a floral lei, we were escorted down to our private hill side villa where we were surprised with flower arrangements at our front door and in our spa bath, a honeymoon cake and welcome drinks. The villa itself was very clean and well appointed with a modern feel, a very comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. The back garden was well maintained, and made for a fantastic backdrop whether having a private swim in the pool or lying in the huge cabana reading a book. The property itself is located on the steep river canyon along the banks of the Ayung river, with beautiful gardens and views towards the mountains in the North of the island. We enjoyed nothing more that going for walks every morning up the hill to the restaurant for breakfast. We frequently opted to get the shuttle service into Ubud for lunch or dinner between tours and sightseeing, but would always try and get back in time for the daily afternoon tea which was to die for. Our only issues, albeit small, were that the pool light and filter would stay on quite late into the evening and so the noise may bother you, but otherwise our stay was perfect. The staff were so friendly and attentative and even extended our check-out time at no extra cost until our airport transfers later in the evening. We would certainly recommend the Samaya Ubud.

Service was attentive and the stay was inclusive of breakfast, afternoon tea, and shuttle transportation to local areas. Rooms were pretty modern and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. However it seemed very "quiet" everywhere we went... we rarely bumped into other guests during our stay, and the entire resort is situated on a very steep hill so we couldn't really walk the property (unless you want to engage in a serious hiking-session). We relied on the buggy to take us everywhere and that was a bit scary because the hill is so steep and we have to ride them facing backwards... they provided seat belts but I was still a bit uncomfortable. We signed up for a massage and the facial and both services were just alright. Nothing to rave about. I would like to try other resorts in Ubud next time to compare.
