“Fantastic experience! Highly recommended”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2011

My new wife and I stayed our first couple of days in Bali at the Samaya Ubud. I wished we stayed longer! The villas were fantastic, we loved relaxing by our private pool on the day bed.

The villas are modern and clean. The staff is extremely attentive anticipating our needs before we even had to ask.

One revert we have is having to leave a day earlier because of Nyepi. Knowing now what we know, we should have stayed a couple extra days there. The day of silence relaxing by our pool would be great.

The staff recommended great places for us to eat. The shuttle service was great, they dropped you off wherever you wanted and you just had to call the hotel 20 mins before you wanted to be picked up (weak simply asked someone at the location to call the hotel for us). The drivers were great pointing out various things as we drove to and from our destination.

Our butler Ari was great as well. He provided everything we needed sometimes without us having to ask.

I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to spend some quality time with people just relaxing.

We went to Samaya in Ubud for the start of our honeymoon, having just been married at the Bali Garden Resort in Tuban.I have been to bali too many times to count as it is my fave holiday destination. I have never stayed in Ubud before and spent many hours researching hotels in the area to find the best in our budget. We were not disappointed and can I say after travelling to many places overseas including Italy,France,Switzerland,Malasia to name just a few this is in our list of the top 2 best hotels we have ever stayed at(The other being Santa Catarina on the Amalfi Coast).
Wayan and all the fantastic staff including Denis at Swept away restaurant are so amazing we were treated like Royalty!!
The villa's are fantastic beyond our expectations alonmg with the Swept away and Scene restaurants. What we loved about Samaya is the attention to detail with everything at the resort. To Name a few would be King Coil bedding that made us feel like we were floating on air,Bose docking station in our room, gym with new equipment along with more Bose sound, cutlery and china at both restaturants as well as our room was 5 star along with the food.We had breakfast set up by the pool everyday that was served to us by 2 of the many fantastic staff members.
We spent 3 nights here then went to Sanur for another 5 nights which was lovely however I have to say I was so sad to leave Samaya and secretly wanted to stay longer.
we will be going back as well as all of our friends that we have recommended this hotel too.
Dont change a thing Samaya this is by far the best accomadation in the world along with service.

We got sloppy reception when we arrived.. No welcome flowers..our room was not as new as what we expected for a 7-month new hotel with cracks on the floor already. The food at the restaurant was good and the spa was wonderful, but the staff was disorganized. There were 4 instances that we had to wait more than 45 minutes for the car pickup from the agreed time and one instance that we were left on the street feeding to mosquitos waiting for the driver. The staff also forgot about our trekking appointment and we had to wait for another 35 minutes for transportation. The only thing we were impressed was the spa service.

Samaya Ubud is a place that needs to be experienced to grasp the extent of the pleasure of staying there. It has an understated & minimalist facade but once you've stayed in, you will begin to understand all the hype around The Samaya. Service is top notch, friendly & seamless in between different butlers, taking care of us so well throughout our stay. Staff love to interact with guests, always striking some conversation, making us feel very welcomed and at home. We had a hassle free airport pickup with a tray of cold water, towel, strawberries & nuts for us to nibbled on during the journey to the hotel. The driver, Wayan, is very informative, giving us insights about Bali. Samaya really does think from the guest's perspectives, providing all the convenient amenities & attention to details that make our stay extremely comfortable. The bed is to die for, we slept like a baby in the 3 days we were there.

We tried the Spa & find the spa room delightful along the Ayung River. My 3 year old son had his first massage & he blurted out " mommy this is so comfortable". All of us had a relaxing & enjoyable 3 hour long treatment. My son asked for a massage the next day!

After the spa, we wanted to get back to our villa with a buggy as it was quite a long way. Out of nowhere, a butler came out & sent us back to our villa without even asking our villa number, just knew our names & even congratulated us on our wedding anniversary. I have no idea how he knows that, considering he wasn't our assigned butler but such is the level of service at Samaya Ubud.

If there is any room for improvement at all, I would say with the zoned butler system, we found ourselves having to repeat requests to the following butler on duty. But it's really a small matter that does not affect our pleasure of staying at the Samaya Ubud, we will be back for sure! Keep up the good work!
