“Great location and very nice villas.”
Reviewed 4 May 2011

We stayed at Furama Xclusive for 6 days in April. Had a really great time - very relaxing. We had booked the spa villa which cost us more but after the first night we asked to change to the lagoon villa as the plunge pool was too deep for our 4 year old. We also weren't aware that you cannot access the lagoon pool from the spa villas. The location was so peaceful, the villas were very nice, staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't mind being away from the centre of Ubud - too busy and commercial. The hotel offers a free shuttle, which is a great idea. Breakfast and afternoon tea was included and we even had the option of having both in our room which was great. 25% off spa treatments a very good incentive. My only disappointment was that we had organised this trip to celerate my 40th Birthday and our wedding anniversary which both fall in April and eventhough I had written this in the booking neither were acknowledged.

Furama is a very nice hide away outside Ubud. The standard and the service is great. The hotel is not situated in the center of Ubud, but they have free shuttles to town.

We can really recommend taking a guided tour with one of the drivers recommended by the hotel. The best driver is "Mr David". He took us to many interesting places all over Bali, and with his very good English he, in a very nice way, told us about everything we wanted to learn about Bali and their culture and traditions. If you are going to Ubud, contract him at mobile (+62) 081 239 29048 or ngurah101@hotmail.com . He will also recommend places to go if you are not sure what you want to see.

You are greeted everywhere by the smiling faces of the staff who obviously love doing their job. Built out amongst the rice paddies, you feel you are experiencing part of Bali daily life but are cocooned in your own luxury villa. Shuttle buses take you into Ubud town and pick you up or else you can just get a local cab ride home. We gained lots of information chatting to other guests on the shuttle bus in to Ubud. There is a great 70 metre spring water pool with your own private inlet inside your Villa walls. (not plunge pool) A walk through the working rice fields and local village was a highlight.

Beautiful setting in the rice fields, i had a lagoon villa, which was perfect. Lots of very helpful staff. Given previous reviews, I was very pleased to enjoy a great breakfast every day, with wonderful local coffee. Unfortunately, I fell ill for a few days of my stay, so relied heavily on room service, which although does have some good meals, can be a bit hit and miss and unfortunately the DVD library has now depleted to about 3 movies, not something you will probably ever need, just my luck. But the in room wifi was a god send.

This property is surrounded by padi fields and one feels surrounded in an oasis of green.
The room architecture is similar to most high end villas ... ferried to your compound by golf cart, it has an outer compound walled in to provide the open air hall, and a bedroom that made of 3 walls of glass (curtained). The bed is a generous king size, with air conditioning and high ceiling with fan.

Deep bath tub for two, or with young kids. The bathroom adjoins the private swimming area.

We had never been to Bali, so it was hard to decide on accommodation. We wanted to keep within a certain budget but also wanted be able to indulge there. We finally decided to try the mystery hotel on wotif. I was deilighted to find out we had scored FuramaXclusive Villas & Spa as it had been one of the hotels I had looked at. It had everything we wanted.....spa, relaxation, proximity to Ubud, transfers, meals & massages. The staff and service we received far exceeded our expectations & the four days we spent there felt like an eternity. The room we had was AMAZING and the staff were so incredibly lovely. The view of the rice paddy field from our room was like nothing we had ever seen before and all the little reptile critters around the place soon became our friends. It's location was about 20 minutes from town and they took us into town & back and nothing was ever too much trouble. Although we were not located in town, we felt we had everything we needed right at the hotel. We can't wait to go back there with family and friends! Our only complaint - we couldn't stay longer!

Planning a month in Asia I was so looking forward to staying at a Lagoon-pool-villa in this hotel and it turned out to be one of the worst placed I have stayed at in Asia; this is no value for money at all (I booked at the Furama-site on the internet). It started out with a grumpy Furama-driver at the airport, no help with the suitcases, no smile whatsoever (we arrived on time by the way). They made us wait in the lounge for two hours but they promised us the best villa, it turned out it was already booked so we got another one. We really tried to keep up the good spirit but in our hearts we really were so disappointed with the loosy interior of the villa, which wasn't built that bad in the first place. The decorating is done in a terrible, cheap and tasteless way. Some things were just not cleaned, the dried-up bodylotion of the guests before us was still on the bottle, faded lampshades, broken and damaged sofa and tables. The towels were stained and torn, every day! The location is not what they say, really too far from Ubud; 40 minutes by car! When you want to go there outside the shuttle-scedule they charge a ridiculous fee. We honestly met one smiling girl of the staff in the breakfast-lounge and that was it. The complimentary diner is a set menu which was so poor we ended up starving! I could go on... I predict this hotel will not last long; they really charge too much for sure. My Advice: lower the prices or renovate this hotel big time! Furama Bangkok, Furama Ubud, both a big 'DON'T'. Lucky for us we did stay at many great hotels on Bali this June.
