“Excellent location”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

This hotel has an excellent location; middle in the "jungle", but at close distance to the centre of Ubud. The overall management of the hotel was however poor; Electrical equipment in the rooms were not maintained or not working (especially the Airco) and water was leaking from the toilet onto the floor (leading to a bad smell in the bathroom). The staff in the restaurant (for breakfast) were poorly organized and were unable to serve the guests in a reasonable time. The reception was for most of the time un-manned and the staff spoke almost no English.
So, you get a big room, but it is almost impossible to make use of other services (planning tours, etc.)

Stayed for five nights in room 7, and what a find it was. If you want complete tranquility away from the hubbub of bustling Ubud, but still be within walking distance of the action, this ticks the boxes. Staff are friendly, attentive and always nearby, but do not intrude in any way. The rooms themselves are by Australian standards basic, but clean and comfortable. Small LCD tv is tuned to Indonesian channels only, but really, television is a low priority when holidaying in Bali. No tea or coffee making in room, but we bought our own kettle to use. The pool was clean and a great view over the natural landscape, no buildings to spoil the view. They are currently building apartments adjacent, but are mindful of guests so any noise is minimal and never early or late. Breakfast was plentiful, with a selection of fresh fruits as well as eggs and toast scrambled poached or fried with juice, tea or coffee. Located on Jalan Bisma near lots of Warungs and a short walk to some great restaurants. Overall, would stay again happily. Recommended.

When we first arrived at the Bucu View Bungalows we thought we were miles from anywhere. The entry driveway is steep and it doesn't seem to be near anything. It only took a walk to discover that we were only a 10 minute walk from the hustle and bustle of Ubud. There are also convenience stores near the hotel, as well as restaurants.
Our check in was good. The staff were friendly. We had bungalow 4, which had two double beds. It was a clean room and well maintained. However, the mattresses were quite thin and hard. The views were magic.
The gardens around the hotel are great. They are well maintained. The pool is refreshing and has wonderful views.
The breakfast is okay. You are given a fruit plate when you first sit down. The menu options consisted of eggs and pancakes. Not a lot of variety, but it was included in our room rate, so it was fair enough.
We would certainly return to Bucu View Bungalows. They are extending at the moment, so there will be more bungalows to choose from in the near future.

Having arrived at night, first impressions after negotiating the steep track to Bucu were of having fallen off the end of the earth into nowhere but with the sunrise and suitably refreshed after a good nights sleep, we found this pace is actually quite well located ........you just need to get your bearings. Within a ten minute walk is 'downtown' Ubud with all the restaurants and shops etc as well as being close by restaurants like 'Cafe des Artistes' and the newly trendy Alchemy raw food restaurant. Staff while few are very friendly and helpful so you feel welcome and at ease.
The garden is well kept and the lawns and pool are well kept and attractive places to chill out with a book in the evenings/late afternoons. Not least it is such good value but there is a downside. The breakfast catering is very poor with the worst coffee/tea I have ever had in Bali and damn it they grow the stuff on the island so no excuses.

This place was an awesome find, A few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud, it's an oasis of piece and quiet that seems to have been forgotten in time. The bungalows are excellent value for money (if you get the price down), the grounds are amazing, including an infinity pool and a sacred stream that we felt we had all four ourselves. And it's in the middle of the forest, so at night you can chill in the porch listening to the monkeys.
The staff, when there, are super friendly and helpful. However, the place seems to be run in a bit of chaos and a lot of times there was no staff to be seen anywhere.

Room Tip: You can bargain the price of the room down quite significantly. We stayed in bungalow 1, which is ri...

We stayed three nights in bungalow 7 and loved it. The bungalow is in a lovely private position tucked away overlooking the jungle valley. You get glimpses of the river below and what can loosely be described as rice paddies (old terraces). Amazing sunsets can be witnessed right from the bedroom window! Lovely quiet location about 15 minutes from ubuds main road. The bungalow is of a reasonable standard for what you pay (very reasonably priced). The rooms were clean, fairly well equipped although the bathroom could do with being modernised. Shower ok, takes a while to warm up! Swimming pool a bit old but ok, area around pool could do with a bit of updating. Breakfast was standard fare but fine and staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend.

This hotel is like nothing I have ever seen. The location was amazing, overlooking the rainforest and surrounded by lush greenery. It is a 5 minute drive from the centre of Ubud but it feels like you are a million miles away from anywhere and anyone. It is so peaceful and quiet, perfect for anyone trying to relax and unwind. Also, it has a beautiful pool overlooking the rainforest below. The staff are really nice too, always trying to help and insisting on carrying our bags, even when we told them they didn't need to! The room was nice and clean without being fantastic and the breakfast was pretty standard fare. Nevertheless I would still recommend anyone staying in Ubud to consider Bucu View, I doubt you will regret it.
