Price quality well balanced. The place is outside bustling downtown, on a hill top, which grants it its own microclimate, cooler than in the city center. The apartments are very nice, clean, but it is still in the budget category. Internet is not working in the 1st apartment since it is farther from the router at the reception counter.

PS. Rooster alarm goes on in the morning :)

Room Tip: If internet in your room is important, then choose a room closer to the check in counter.

I booked In Da Lodge for four nights based on the good reviews on TripAdvisor, and I can't believe so many people liked it! We booked about $35 USD per night for the superior/studio, no breakfast, no Air Conditioner, and were told when we arrived that we had accidentally booked for only one person, and an additional person is $8 per night, still no breakfast. EVERY OTHER HOMESTAY in Ubud around Christmas (that's considered the high season) charges 200,000 for two people including breakfast and a pool (or 250,000 for a nicer, more private room), which is about $21-26 USD.

That's just the price. The room was dark and dreary, with exposed lightbulbs and faulty electrical sockets, and the bathroom was gross. The floors looked like they'd never been mopped, and the shower floor, separated from the rest of the bathroom floor only by a loose line of cinderblocks, was covered with soap scum and stones which served only to hide the muck. The sink was equally icky; covered in weeks of toothpaste stains and the drain had trash in it, literally. We asked on our second day for them to clean the bathroom and sink, and the trash was STILL IN THE DRAIN and there was no sign that the sink had been touched.

The location isn't great, either. It's close to the main road, but not directly on it, so you get all the noise but none of the convenience. If you want peace, go up Jalan Kajeng or into the ricefields; lots of cute homestays. If you want busy streets and convenience, try Jalan Monkey Forest or Jalan Hanoman.

We asked for a refund from Agoda, and since it was past the one-week cancellation deadline, the hotel had to agree. Surprise surprise, they wouldn't let us out of our overpriced and yucky room.

Just to make it worse, Jan, the owner, was terribly brusque with us the whole time.

Room Tip: our room (7) was very private; it was a big "studio" on the 2nd floor.

I stayed here with my Australian friend last year. This hotel / homestay is really nice place to stay. small but very comfortable, nestled into the village style area off Jalan Raya Ubud. nice owner and staffs. really a perfect place to get relaxed.
the breakfast menu is so so ( or a bit poor), but it was fine as we could go out to have breakfast at the restaurant nearby.

We had the room No 3, very big, cleaned uppon request, very comfortable with a really nice terrasse !

We stayed there for about 3 weeks and when we went to the Gili islands (for 1 week), the staff kept our luggage and made sure that we got back our room No 3 on our return which I found so kind from them, they were very nice with us and always there to help !

Also, food is very cheap and good !

With regards to the room rate, we initially paid 240K Rp per night but then, we've negotiated to 200K Rp per night so yes, I guess it can be the best value for money in Ubud.

Also, it's true that there is a chicken that wakes us up every early morning BUT we didn't mind it at all, it was our natural alarm as we had long working days ! And, it's a beautiful environnement full of beautiful plants and flowers so if you love nature, you'll love In Da Lodge.

So, as a conclusion, it's a great place to stay in while in Ubud ! We would definitely go again !

Room Tip: Try to get the room No 3 which has the best and bigger terrasse

What a great little place! The hotel is more like a homestay, nestled into the kampung area just off Jalan Raya Ubud. Jan the owner and his wonderful staff will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and we felt totally looked after the whole time we were there. The rooms are simple but clean and nice, tastefully decorated and quite big. Would definitely return and recommend it to others.

We booked on internet for 2 nights and extended 2 more. Seems to be best value in ubud, but last night they rise price from 290.000 to 360.000 without telling us. They said it is high season and full price is 450.000 even on internet there are still with lower price.

And Breakfast is Not included! We had paid 160.000 more of breakfast for 4 days! We find these out when we are paying the bill. When you ask for the breakfast they will give you a papel with a pen, don't tick anything if you don't want to pay extra. With this price you can find hotels much betters. In Ubud there are plenty of options of lodge with lower price and better conditions.

The staff are frendly but not trained and they only speak basic english. Room was not cleaned in 4 days! the service is slow, we ordered 2 dishes from menu (which is good priced) and it took 1h. When we first enter the toilet floor was all wet. Don't expect soap or sampu. One night we had no hot water, which was solved next day. So we had cold water shower that night.

The location is very good, it s just 200 m from center. you need go a short uphill to get there. The place is nice and is close to some rice fields. The problem is therere cock around and at 5am they will wake you up! And there're noisy cock fight everyday. You have to be very careful with your food, ants are everywhere.

Wifi connection coverage in the room is not very good.

The dutch owner seems to be friendly when is selling you tours or car moto rent, but it turns unfriendly when you are complaining about something.

Tours and activities has good discount. We asked for 8h car with driver for 500.000 which was very good. But I'm sure that you can find better price around.

Pro:

- very close to center

- nice surroundings

- quiet until 5 am and when not cock fight

- discounts for tours

Cons.

- breakfast pay apart

- not good wifi coverage

- 5am cock alarm

- Not good value

- slow service

- unfriendly owner

- uphill to get there

- no room clean in 4 days

- price rise without notice

- A lot of Ants

We loved this place! Large rooms with your own balcony area, hidden nicely out of the way but still within easy walking distance of town. The rooms are basic but clean, including desk, mosquito nets and private bathrooms...very good for the price!! It seemed to have its own cool micro climate - perfect place to escape the midday sun! The staff were amazingly friendly and went out of their way to help us out with any info we needed, and although the breakfast was not included as we had thought, it was very cheap. Booked one night and stayed for six! There were a lot of ants but that's to be expected. We also had trouble finding it - coming from Antonio Bianco museum end, a couple hundred metres after the museum, on your right a hill branches off from the main road with a metal railing, and the guest house is just at the top of there! Just seemed to have a real 'Bali feel' to it which was lovely, would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Superior rooms are well worth the extra pennies, they're bigger and give you more privacy on you...
