Awesome stay!

Great place! Stayed in the family room. The staff are friendly and efficient. The pools are clean and refreshing. Really can't fault much, apart from a temple nearby where they were practicing for upcoming ceremonies till late on some of the nights (I suppose the owners can't do much about that). Would gladly recommend to fellow travelers and wouldn't hesitate to return!

This property was such a surprise. I thought for the cost of a 3 night stay...it would have been a tad basic...how wrong was I. This property is simply stunning. The grounds and the pool were beautiful and because there are only a few villas/rooms...it is very private. We had a family room and it was huge. There is only one bathroom but it has a great shower and separate bath. My stay here reminded me of how Bali was 20 years ago. The service was fantastic and every request was met within minutes. We even booked a scooter for $6 AUD a day!!. Oh and the breakfast was fantastic with fresh juice everyday. Do yourself a favour and book this hotel when you ate staying in Ubud. It wont break your budget and you will get so much more for your money. Thank you Alas Petulu for making our stay such a memorable one. PS...go to Spice for tapas and cocktails (same owner as Mosiac) and the Daily Baguette for coffee. You can also buy cold meats and cheese to take back to your room for a cheese board.

My wife, daughter and I hade 4 good days at this hotel. Friendly and helpfull staff. Very good for the price. There is only breakfast at the hotel. The rooms is a nice size and clean. The hotel is located on a slope, so there is many steps in the nice garden where the bongalos are located.

My boyfriend and me were there last summer: dirty place, humid linnen, non proffessional and slow personnel, not fancy ay all. It was the most expensive place we stayed in Indonesia (by far) and the worst hotel (by far too). Doesn't worth the money.

I want to start with the positives for this hotel:

1. They let us have a super late check out which was amazing! Made our trip home so much smoother.

2. The location is quite good. Really close to yoga and healthy food options, not overly close to monkey Forrest road so it depends what you are after.

3. The large pool is wicked! Really nice temp and great size.

Now let's talk about a few negative points:

1. Staff were super lovely BUT at times really hard to find. No one ever picked up at reception which was a little annoying as our room as a fair walk away if we ever had a question.

2. Towels and bath mats needed some tlc. Most things were old and had holes in them.

3. The room itself is ok it just lacks character completely. It's so strange as the property has lots of nice little details and personality a.

4. Not sure if the price of $110 during low season is ok or not...we paid $250 for a 2 bedroom villa in seminyak with a huge private pool garden etc. This place just didn't compare.

Honestly it's not a bad place to stay but also not the best.

It is a little walk (10-15 mins) to the centre on a road without a pavement but it is still well located. It is in a gorgeous setting surrounded by tall trees and well-maintained gardens. We had a room with a private pool that was a treat especially as the main pool was also lovely. When we arrived our private pool was a little dirty but we found out this was because the electricity had gone off the day before and turned off the filter system, once that was sorted it was beautiful and we used it everyday.

The breakfast was good, quite standard for Bali – eggs, toast, jam, juice. Staff were friendly and helpful but the reception desk was often unmanned and it was sometimes hard to find people, that didn’t spoil our enjoyment though.

There was a great veggie café called Fussy Bird about 25 metre away which was good for lunch and juices.

Our room was a good size and the bathroom was massive. It was clean and well maintained but felt a little more rustic than the pictures show. It still felt like good value for money and nicer than a lot of the usual Bali accommodation, we really enjoyed our time in Ubud and Alas Petulu.
