V. nice garden, friendly & helpful staff, nice environment, safety LOL(just next to police station).
Room is a run-down, need some repair & touch up. Pool is slightly small but fine.
Western breakfast is good & Healthy juice is i recommended, lastly don't forget to try out the ice lemon tea.
Sadly the padi view is no longer padi field.
Overall, i sure come back here again for my holidays.

Room Tip: 110x is ground villa, 210x is upper floor room

We loved this place! It is well positioned close to Ubud's main street and across from a large supermarket. Stayed a week with my wife and 16 year old son. The tourist cottages are set at the end of a delightful traditional garden complete with winding paths, ornate gateways and modern looking swimming pool (dominated by a large female figure fountain ). Rooms rather small but have built in wardrobes, a TV and en suit bathroom. This is not 5 star hotel standard, so no air con, but the rooms were clean and had a great view across a small river valley. Our room had a noisy water pump that constantly switched on and off. The staff are polite and friendly (though English is not a strong point with the juniors) especially the manager who spoke good English and was always there to help. Breakfast in the open dining area was a great start to the day. We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: some ground floor rooms have a noisy water pump outside - check first.

Stayed here our one night in Ubud and loved our bungalow. A bit run-down, but very cosy. Everyone working and living there are lovely and helpful. Great way to get a real insight into Balinese culture and traditions.

I booked here for our group of 12 based on reviews and we all loved our week long stay. The price was very reasonable and included excellent breakfasts and limited menu lunch or dinner. The bathrooms are basic with shower problems for tall people but the gardens, pool and wonderfully friendly staff plus the handy location to a big supermarket and Ubud's main streets made it a very popular choice.

Room Tip: Some rooms are up steep stairs and hopefully the noisy caged rooster has been removed from being so...

Gunung merta Bungalows are fine just fine don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.
On the plus side the compound itself is beautiful and quiet, the family are friendly and the room was comfortable with a view of jungle ( not rice fields as advertised), the breakfast is generous and the staff were lovely.
On the negative side the rooms have a lot of potential but we were placed in a downstairs room which was a bit dark and pokey whereas the photos of the upstairs rooms look lovely so I was a bit disappointed especially as all the rooms were not full.
The bathroom was pretty nasty and really needs updating but had a good shower. The wifi did not work apparently (unless you were a member of staff or friend who could browse as much as you liked ) they actually refused to give us the password despite our devices showing full signal.
The staff were lovely but could not answer basic enquiries about things that were offered in their own brochure ( only 1 member of staff had good English) ,
The bungalows are also on a very busy road and quite a walk from the centre of town so be prepared, there is a good supermarket over the road however.
We found Ubud very busy and were not that keen on the town itself so arranged a tour outside ubud through the bungalows which was great.
Overall the bungalows are fine and are good value for money, they have the potential to be fantastic but need a little bit more work.

We booked well in advance thru Booking.com however they were not fully connected till the day we arrived and therefore they did not have a room for us. This was not their fault, but none the less they reserved a BETTER room for us in their other bungalow Lokasari and paid the difference. They really went out of their way in all ways. Although we didn't stay there, our parents and aunt/uncle did. They loved it. It's close enough to the hustle and bustle of Ubud yet your backyard is jungle-like. The pool is beautiful. The meals are delicious! Definitely get your fill of Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng while in Ubud (Fried Rice/Fried Noodles) it is delicious! They arranged taxi/tours for us 3 times as well as organized our transportation to Gili Trawangan and back.
Highly recommend Gunung Merta and would stay there again if ever back to Ubud!

Room Tip: Request a room at the back, you will have a terrace at your back door looking out to the jungle.

We made a reservation 3 weeks ago and when we arrived today there was no room for us. They did not even take the blame and blamed Hostelworld. They promissed us an upgrade in another hotel, but this was more of a downgrade. Brick dodgy bungalows with no Balinese influences what so ever. Terrible beginning of our Bali experience!!!
