WOW - what a wonderful experience we had at the Samara Villas in Ubud. The villas are situated about 1km from the main road - we might have had trouble finding them at night on arrival except for our guide - but the walk up was so worth it. We only found out later that the normal process is for the staff to scooter up luggage for you. You are surrounded by tranquil rice fields and sounds of nature. The staff are most friendly and helpful and made us feel very special from the first day - nothing was too much trouble. The walk into Ubud is peaceful and beautiful. Yudi and Stefano are charming, wonderful hosts who enjoy sharing stories and interacting with their guests. Villas themselves are clean and comfortable. I could go on and on, but we loved it - and would definitely stay their again - we did not want to leave.

Room Tip: Try to get room 5 or 6 - the most private and quiet with the best view over the rice fields. Howev...

If you are looking for accommodation in Ubud, this is a good place to go. Lovely villas away from the busy street. We stayed here for 5D4N and its just great. It is surrounded by padi fields and be prepared to walk a little (10-15 minutes). Before your reach the villas, be sure to call Samara so that they can arrange come over to the carpark to collect your bags. The walk to the villas are very nice and a little mysterious. We like it a lot. If you intend to do some shopping, be sure to bring some shopping bags for your convenience due to the walking distance between the street and Samara. PLEASE BRING A GOOD TORCH LIGHT! YOU'LL NEED IT AT NIGHT :)

We had a great time and its just so sad to leave. There are some people who complaints about the view from the villas. Ive check the views on all the villas (6 in total). Some are facing the restaurant, some are facing the swimming pool and some are facing the padi field. If you are intending to sleep with your doors and windows open, please inform the owner on your request so that they can give you a villa facing just the padi field. Otherwise, any villas will do.

Breakfast are included and you can choose ranging from Continental, American and Indonesian. We had dined at the Samara restaurant twice. The pasta are good with good size portion.

Stefano and Yudi are very passionate about their work. They always make a point to have a nice chat with us making sure we are comfortable, had a great time and always eager to help us if we need one. The staffs are very friendly and eager to pleased. It was our 10th anniversary and they decorated the villa on our last night!

Samara, we had a great time! Thank you very much.

Keep up the good work!!

We are currently in the middle of our stay at the Samara and everything is beyond expectations. The view IS the sweetest in Ubud, and Stefano and Yudi are great hosts. Every morning starts with a WOW when you open the curtains of your room. During the day the pool is super, and the breakfast and dinner are also very very good.
The service with the scooters down to the parking and into town bridges the little distance from town quite conveniently. This is such a heaven of peace and tranquility, could not have chosen any better.

We had 3 days here , not much more I can say other than we loved it here. We were a bit nervous about the motorbike ride up the very steep hill, but once we were there it was ok. Ubud has grown like the rest of Bali but this place is away from everything. Total peace and tranquility. Just GO is all i can say.

Room Tip: Rooms 5 0r 6. Be prepared to walk everywhere. Dont pack too much.

I loved this "place", it is much more than just a hotel or villa thanks to the passion that has been put into it by the owners Yudi and Stefano.
Every morning that I woke up to the rice paddy views I had the same thought - I could never tire of this.
A lot of people pass by The Samara Villas to do the rice paddies walk to see this view but we were lucky enough to live in it whilst only a few minutes walk to a lovely little street full of resto's and character (about ten minutes to the main street).
The villas are brand new and always very clean. The design is simple yet lovely. If I didn't live in England I would copy their bathroom - I loved the semi outdoor shower.
As first timers to Bali The Samara have given me a memory that I will always cherish.
The staff are amazing. They really do capture the heart and soul of the Balinese that you would loose in a larger place.
A big thank you to Stefano for acting as our VIP concierge, from getting us a motorbike within minutes (we were running late), booking tours and spas, and giving us the address of the best local warung around.
Bali meets Italy = the perfect fusion.

If you are looking for accomodation in Ubud you don't need to look any further. This is the place you want to stay.
We loved the Samara.
-The views are incredible. Whether you're lazing by the pool, having breakfast in the restaurant or exploring the surroundings, you won't get bored of the view.
-The villas are spotless and are of a very high standard. Decor is lovely. Loved the outdoor shower too.
-The owners Stephano and Yudi are fantastic - the friendliest, interesting and helpful hosts we met on our trip. They won't disturb you if you want to be left alone, but we spent ages chatting to the lovely couple and they are very happy to help you out in any way. The rest of the staff are also great too.
-we ate at the hotel one night and the food was delicious. great home made italian dishes
-good breakfast with a good choice between balinese, contiental or american, and very generous portions
-location is perfect. Best of both worlds being only a 5-10 minute walk to the centre of town and also being in the most relaxing, unspoilt setting admist the rice fields. Yes, you will need to picked up with motorbikes when you first arrive with your luggage as the last 500m isn't accessible by car, but don't let this put you off. it is worth it. if you don't want to go by motorbike, you can always walk (we did so every night) and the guys can take your luggage up for you. The hill isn't that steep, it's a concrete path the whole way and only takes a few minutes.
-pool area is lovely. we never had a problem with lack of sun loungers, as most guests are usually out exploring the area, but do agree with a previous review, adding 2 extra loungers wouldn't be a bad thing.
I would stay here again without a doubt and would recommend the Samara to all my friends and family. We loved the Samara.

Room Tip: i requested room 5 or 6 based on the reviews here. the hotel was fully booked when we arrived so we...

The Samara is not accessible by car, the hotel will send mopeds to the car park pickup point which is approx 400-500m away. We were not aware of the moped journey before we made our reservation. Upon arrival we were greeted with cold towels and refreshing fruit juice. The Samara was fully booked and we were allocate a room nearest to the reception, which meant we were slightly overlooked. If possible try to get a room near the pool end for increased privacy. The room was well appointed and extremely clean with modern facilities and a fresh fruit bowl every day, their is air con but we still found it hot at night to sleep. There was also a minibar (payable locally) if you so wished to use it. Breakfast choices were American, Continential or Balinese - the Balinese was very good. The pool was functional but would become crowded if there were more than 2-3 in their at the same time. There are only 4 pool loungers for the potential 10 guests which was disappointed, an improvement would be to purchase more loungers to accommodate all of the guests perhaps locating some in the garden area? The walk to/from central Ubud is approx 10-15 minutes, and is safe however you will need a decent torch to return at night. Overall a great stay, friendly owners and helpful staff.

Room Tip: Try and get a from near the pool, this is the other end to the reception and will provide the most p...
