Location: Jalan Kajeng, Ubud, Bali 80571, Indonesia

Good location for the view of padi field and if you want to be near Ubud town but not for honeymooners.Walking back in the night may not be for the faint- hearted. Hot water turns cold quite quickly. View of padi field is very nice and serene but spoilt by loud speaking villa assistants in the dining area, admin staff and when they do the daily cleaning. Maybe because the area is small so every little 'loud' noise is amplified. We like the experince of the motorcycle ride to the villa. Little restaurants near the villa is nice too. Villa owner and wife are friendly. Afternoon tea is delicious esp the cookies. Free wifi in the room which is most welcome. Breakfast is average. Although villa is only 2 years old, things are beginning to get old. We found cracks on the swimming pool tiles and the sink became stuck in our room on the first day.Room 5 and 6 are the best, with good view and privacy. Beware of room 1 even though you can see the padi field. If your lights are on, the view inside the room will be seen if someone stands at the main entrance. Although there are many faults, we still like it as we went there for the view, location and it's value for money.

Room Tip: Beware of room 1 even though you can see the padi field. If your lights are on, the view inside the...

We stayed 4 nights in this amazing hotel and it was the absolute highlight of our trip. It is nestled amongst beautiful rice fields where you can take endless walks. It is within close walking distance to town. The staff is absolute amazing, very helpful, polite and friendly. Look no further and book the The Samara it is the sweetest view in Ubud.

My girlfriend and I stayed here on the last week of June 2012 and we were completely awed by how peaceful and mesmerizing the location of this villa is considering it is only 10 to 15 minutes walk away from Ubud's main road (Jalan Raya Ubud).

The mornings here are so beautiful and charming. We had breakfast here which is very good and we watched the ducks waddle around the rice fields, and marvel at the natural beauty of nature and the hardworking ethics of the farmers. The breeze made this place feel so cooling and the nighttime outdoor showers chilling. We were in Ubud for 4 days and 3 nights and our itnerary was packed with things to do and see, and that's our regret for we didn't plan on a day to just chill and relax in this wonderful place that's perfect just for that.

If you're going to stay in the Samara, do spend at least half a day here to relax by the pool, enjoy the breeze, nibble on their complimentary tea time treats, and have a dinner or lunch here as the food is really good.

Yudi is really warm, fashionable and professionally handled all our needs. She's also a great person to ask about the great deals in Ubud for cocktails and spas. Thanks to her recommendation we were able to enjoy our time there without worrying about making unwise choices.

If there is one gripe we have, it's the little road that leads up to the Samara. It's a road with its own charm and character that's GREAT for strolling in the morning. BUT a potential nightmare at night if you're like us who likes to stay out late for nightlife and come home close to midnight. The road has virtually no lighting and it's an upslope climb. So coming back to the Samara at night can be a thriller, unless you have a few people walking with you. Definitely not recommended for solo walking, unless you love an adrenalin rush.

Overall, I highly recommend this place. For its quality, for its beauty, for its people and for its charm. Like many things in Ubud, this is a hidden treasure.

Room Tip: Villas 3 to 6 will offer greater privacy than villas 1 or 2 which is just next to the lobby. Also...

We stayed in one of the Samara villas for 4 nights last week. We really liked the peaceful and remote location of the villas. When we arrived, we got our driver to call the hotel and 2 staff came to collect us on their scooters. It seemed a long way on the scooter from the "carpark" in the dark and I was worried that we would be a really long walk from town. I had read all the trip advisor reviews so I knew that the villas weren't accessible by car and how nice they were reported to be but I thought my husband must be wondering what I had gotten us into at this point :) It turned out that it is really only a 10 minute walk from the villas to the main street of Ubud.
The villas were lovely: clean, spacious, comfortable. Breakfast was really good - choice of Indonesian, eggs and bacon, pancakes or cereal. Sitting by the pool in the middle of the rice paddies was something special, you really felt like you were on holiday and 1 million miles away from normal life.
We ate dinner one night at the restaurant, I had both the meatballs and tiramisu after reading rave reviews on trip advisor and I don't know if it is because I am from an Italian family but I really didn't think either was worth writing home about.
The service was excellent throughout our stay. We met Yudi who was lovely but not her husband.
We would definitely stay here again if we were to return to Ubud!
