I really, really LOVE this place! Everything about this place: the people, the location, the villa; they are all great and lovely! And furthermore, we love the quietness of this place!!

The Samara is located in the middle of the paddy field, and takes about 10-15 mins walk to the Ubud town, so it is very convenient. However, no cars can go directly to the hotel's entrance so one can either walk (and enjoy the walk and view along the way) or rely on hotel's motorcycle ride up. No hassle and no worries! It is great!

They only have 6 villas so it is quite exclusive. Great villa and we love the semi-outdoor shower!

Staffs are really friendly and they would love to chat with you, finding out things about you, and recommends you things to do/eat in Ubud. Their service is extremely good. In my personal opinion, at any one time, the number of staffs in The Samara is way more than the number of guests. We were served afternoon tea by the pool (or villa, depending on your choice) everyday and the attentiveness they gave us is marvelous.

The pool is small but it is good enough.

Oh, they served/cook great food too!

Everything about this place is perfect! If we were to go back to Ubud, we will come here again!

We came after reading the positive comments on tripadvisor. It is all true. This place is literally paradise! Because the hotel is small and familiar, you feel at home from the minute you arrive. You'll be served cool welcome drinks and a towel. Then enjoy the beautiful pool surrounded by rice paddies and a wonderful view. Staff is always helpful and friendly, food is also remarkably good (maybe due to the italian roots of the owners couple).

Ubud is in easy walking distance. A short walk through the tropical rainforest and the rice fields is highly recommended (staff will tell you which way to go).

If you are looking for a calm, very clean hideaway, this is your place. You can get you head cleared here in this magical place. Enjoy nature sounds, friendly people, wonderful environment.

Full recommendation!

Room Tip: There are six bungalows. Each of them is great!

Nice small hotel in the middle of the rice fields. Beautiful location with very clean and good facilities. Staff and managers are helpfull and friendly. Hopefully we will be back! Great place to enjoy Ubud after a short walk but with sweet views!

I cannot compliment The Samara enough! From the moment of arrival, our every request was catered for, and many things were anticipated for us before we could ask. On arriving in our lovely room where a 'Happy Anniversary' message was written in flowers, my husband and I knew we were in for a fantastic treat! The staff were nothing but wonderful, accommodating and kind, providing a personal service without being 'in your face' with anything.

Each morning we sat down to a relaxed, tasty breakfast, watching the rice fields and neighbours chickens work their way around the field. Could life be anymore relaxing? I am gluten intolerent, and with prior notice (provided when we booked), nothing was too much trouble. There were plenty of options on the menu for me to choose from, and adjustments were made to some dishes without a murmer of trouble. At one point I also felt unwell (I hasten to add NOT due to the food!!), and the staff were more than happy to provide local remedies and kindness which enabled me to relax and feel well again by the afternoon (the heat no doubt as we had spent the morning walking around Ubud with no hats, silly us!).

From booking tours and spas, organinsing drivers and just providing general local knowledge, Steffano and Yudi have created a home in Ubud, a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city, while still located within walking distance. We loved that the last part of the journey was accessable only by foot or scooter, as it provided a sense of seclusion that having cars drive past would have ruined.

The rooms were clean, well appointed (the pillows were soft as clouds and the bed just right for providing a fantastic nights sleep) and a little unique with their outdoor showers. We were located in the last villa with a wonderful view and peace and quiet. In short, we enjoyed every moment of our ten day stay! If you are looking for a romantic boutique experience, I would not hesitate to recommend the Samara!

The Samara is situated along Jalan Kajeng and the 15' walk from the centre of Ubud is really breathtaking, passing several rice fields. Arriving on scooters from the main road was a nice alternative. There are only six luxury rooms with an outdoor shower. No mosquito problems at all! Breakfast (3 choises) is included. The hotel owner just opened a new italian restaurant in Ubud centre but there was no outdoor seating possible. So we have tried the Italian (same card) and Balinese food at Samara restaurant next to the pool and it was excellent! At dinner you can see the fireflies and it was amazing to hear night time noises of ducks and geckos.
Customer service was outstanding. Complimentary tea when returning to the hotel between 5 and 6 pm. At the reception you find flyers of the Putri Bali massage and spa. All the packages are exceptional value for money. Ask for it!
Currently, this is the best place in Ubud! I can only advise to go.
