“AHH the serenity”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

A beautiful location set amongst the rice fields.

We stayed for 6 nights.

Quite, quite and quite, with distant subtle sounds sometimes of Bali music in the distance,

mystic.

The rush hour sounds of a couple of free range chooks feeding through the adjacent rice fields,

mesmerising.

The farmer tending to the crops,

hypnotic.

The view from the rooms (6 only),

magic.

Food and service.. good.

The staff, second to none, after 35 plus visits to Bali i rate them....excellent, Made and the lady on the front desk...love them!
they will organise anything, from a bike/taxi to a tour at value, no rip off!
Mobile phones given on arrival, pick up and drop offs to main road prompt and effort free, so dont be put off by remote location.

Walks in the area excellent, just turn right as you leave the resort.
Continue along the path, you should see mount Agung in the distance a very holy spot for the Hindu people of Bali (the most holy spot and all temples face the mountain),the path will get narrow, very narrow,
continue through the bush and watch your step along the irrigation walls as the fall is far,
cross over the waterfall and continue then climb up the embankment to the rice fields.
turn right for a long walk or turn left to walk down to Sari Organic (great views great food but rubbish service, a must visit)
continue all the way down the winding path, beautiful views and pics to be had.
I turn and come back when i get to the Temple at the bottom, the return trip about an hour at good pace.

Enjoy, i hope this helps.

BTW the internet is poor away from the main office, they need to fix this!!!

Bath towels also need to be softened, fine for my rough skin but for the better half, not happy with them!!

Room Tip: we had room 5, room 6 is at the end and is the room to get, but WiFi is rubbish down there.

Very kind, extremely polite staff. Excellent hospitality. Goof nature around. Half opened bathroom. Remarkable and elegant room interior and facilities. Fresh fruit service. Single villa style luxury rooms. Excellent food in their restaurant with normal prices. Very delicious Itallian cousine. Very fresh meals. Free wifi in the room. Flower full bloomed garden. Bird songs and rooster screaming in the morning. Geckos are running on exterior walls. Many fireflies during nights. No mosquitoes. They give free cell phone and you can call them anytime from city center to pickup by motor bike.
You can feel it's a dream.

Room Tip: Very calm and very cosy area. surrounded by farm land. Any rooms are good but better not stay near s...

I stayed at The Samara with one of my best friends in March and loved it.

The most awesome thing about this place is the attention to detail and the genuine concern about whether or not you have a great time in Ubud. The owners and staff are incredibly attentive and cheerful. They think of absolutely everything; from recommending restaurants, to giving you an emergency phone that you can keep during your stay - complete with emergency numbers programmed in it (Ubud is safe so we never had to use them).

The villas are not accessible by car- which i thought might be a problem but it really wasn't. Staff were available 24/7 to pick us up at their car park on scooters when we were done adventuring in town- at no extra cost. The front desk was very organised and sorted out a rafting trip for us which was amazing. They also arranged an airport shuttle for us.

My favourite thing was how clean the rooms were- I am super ODC about cleanliness and I was completely comfortable there.

The pool is also right outside the rooms which is essential in the Balinese heat.

All in all- the only place to stay in Ubud.

We stayed for three nights at The Samara. Made picked us up from Denpasar after our flight was delayed over an hour and was the most cheerful and helpful. Breakfast was phenomenal, the property was pristine, and our private tour was amazing.

I cannot recommend the Samara enough! It is beautifully located in the rice paddies but still very close to town. It is a nice little walk, but if you like they offer free transportation. They give you a cell phone to use for local calls and to contact them. The breakfast is fantastic, but best of all is the unbelievably friendly staff. I had a transfer that failed when I was leaving which was arranged by someone else. However, the staff at the Samara solved the problem in the very best way. A truly great place!

Room Tip: I had #6 which had great views!

Location is really neat - just outside the city in more rural area (transport to/from the city center is included in the rate). Rooms are spotless, nice LCD tv with a ton of channels, decent wifi, refrigerator, hair dryer, and extremely comfortable bed. Pool is really nice and breakfast was spectacular. Many options and a full menu to choose from. We arranged transportation to/from Ubud through the hotel and the car was very spacious and comfortable, excellent driver and very reasonable rate. Everyone we interacted with from the hotel was sooo nice, friendly and helpful. Our visit was a stop on our honeymoon and the resort really made an effort to make it special for us.

We would go back!

Beautiful location, situated among rice fields yet is still close to the town (the hotel arranges a free scooter shuttle to take you to the town).
Staff were attentive, friendly and are eager to fulfill any requests. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Highly recommended for a stay in Ubud.
