Yesterday, I went to the Tamrind spa and had a classic Bali massage. Everything was wonderful, from being greeted by name upon arrival to having the massage oils and their uses explained.
The spa is part of the Murni Homestay complex. It’s ‘old Bali’ but very well maintained and gives you an idea of what it was like 50 years ago.
There are beautiful wood and stone carvings all around, paintings etc.
The massage rooms are very well appointed. There are full tubs/showers and toilets in each one.
Everything is very clean and smells fresh and fragrant.
The masseuse (Juni) did a great job. She spoke English well, and I was able to communicate my individual needs.
The 60 minutes of heaven just flew by....it was over too quickly.
After, I was offered a drink and a fruit plate.
All in all, a lovely and relaxing experience.

The service and staff at the Tamarind Spa were fantastic. From the moment they greet you to the moment you leave, you really feel like you’re their only customer. The first day I had a 90 minute full body massage and it was such a great experience that I just cited to go back the next day for additional treatments. That right there says it all!

Visited the spa today with my Mum. We were very lucky because we had tried to get in somewhere else but they couldn’t fit us. I stumbled across Tamarind spa and thought this looked even better!
They fitted us both in for the afternoon for a package that included a massage, body scrub, flower bath and facial. They also organised us a driver for a good price (70000 IR) which was probably better than we could negotiate on the street.
The spa is set in beautiful gardens and the ladies were so lovely. They gave us some tea and a cool cloth and let us chose our oils. Even though it was raining and my mum has mobility issues we had no problem getting around as they happily helped my mum up and down steps and with her shoes etc.
Every part of the package was delightful and the spa was cleaned to the highest standard. They even gave us tea and fruit for when we soaked in the bath.
If I had to chose anything to pick on it would be that the skin care for the facial seemed to be one size fits all and not tailored to any specific skin condition. That being said they don’t try and sell it to you. It’s obviously for relaxation not treatment and my skin did feel lovely afterwards.
It was the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Tamarind Spa is like finding the old, authentic Bali. The Spa is so so so.....beautiful and set in a Balinese compound. The tropical gardens and elegant fountains are so relaxing - it feels like an oasis. The exquisitely carved Ganeshas and Buddhas are a reminder that you have come to a place of peace – a beautiful haven of relaxation and divine connection. I had a 3 hr treatment with my partner. It was heavenly.
5-star trained massueses and quality products and the price is so reasonable. About the same as dinner and a bottle of wine!!! No kidding!!!
I had a footbath ritual, 1 hr massage, scrub with heavenly products, a facial and a petal bath!!! I did ear candling as well. The last 2 were add-ons.
I have been here 3 times now. It's such a peaceful experience and you feel like you are floating afterwards. I had lunch in the quiet gardens after. You have found a gem here. Bookings advised. It's popular.

I recently visited Tamarind Spa in Ubud....what a wonderful piece of heaven. Tamarind have just finished creating some new spa rooms.....the decor is beautiful....calming and relaxing. The staff at Murni's are extremeley professional, warm and welcoming. I had a sublime 1 hour lomi_lomi massage.....the therapist's touch carried me off to a dreamy 60 minutes with a beautiful massage. Tamarind is now at the top of my list for spa treatment in Ubud. I can't wait to head back there for my next treatment. Such a great selection on the spa menu. While you are there, checkout the lovely accommodation at Murni's Houses and top off your massage with a meal at Murni's Warung....just down the road from the spa.
