Really enjoyed the beautiful villa. The beautiful gardens, comfortable airconditioned bedroom, pool, friendly help, delicious breakfast, helpful advise regarding transportation, restautants and spas, all made the trip special. The walk into Ubud was not long, but in the humidity, it was a bit of a challenge the first day. By the time we left, I was more than used to it, and enjoyed walking through the neighborhood into town, watching people decorating for the upcoming festival.

“best vacation house in Ubud”
Reviewed 12 March 2012 for a stay in February 2012

The house is just around the corner of the ubud centre so you could easily access the town for coffee or a quick suveniour shopping in one of the afternoons. The neigbours are so friendly that they would give you big smile and hello each time you are in or out from the alley; this is important, because you dont want to feel being "alienated" during a relaxing holiday without good adivse from locals about the weather or where to go for good food or where to find nice book store for local recipe.

Villa Manis just offers all the characters that are so important to us when selecting holiday apartment/house. Plus, it has a nice salt-water pool that you could throw yourself into and stay for the whole morning without feel bored
The staff, (gardener and house keepers) are very friendly and willing to help when you look for directions or hints on what to do, and we were really grateful for Waya's helpe to cook lunch during the days we did not feel like going out. It was extra work for her, but the MieGoreng she prepared for us was so delicious and needed to thank her million times.

If you ask me where I would want to stay in Ubud next time, I surely say Villa Manis is one of my top choice.

Liked best: location and swimming pool
Liked least: no satellite TV because personally, I dont like opening iPad or NB during my vacation, as for long vacation, it might be good to have CNN or BBC to know what is happening out there.

“The Best Ever Stay In Bali”
Reviewed 21 November 2011 for a stay in November 2011

Now where do I start?

Mary Lee the owner and her hand picked staff of this very special villa made our 28th stay in Bali the best ever.

Made Rai (driver) picked us up in Kuta in a very clean near new vehicle with great airconditioning and dropped us off to our villa. Made is a perfect gentleman that was in control at all times and speaks very good english.

When we arrived at the villa we were met by Made who is one of the house maids. She showed us around the small grounds and let us know everything we needed to know about the property and area.
Mary Lee joined her later on in the day and what a perfect host.
Wayan the second house maid introduced herself the following day with a scumptsious breakfast of mie goreng with an egg on top (which we had arranged the day earlier)
The villa is a one bedroom with a huge bathroom with a good sized bath tgub and semi out door shower. The toilet is modern with a spacious vanity and all good western style fittings and features.
The living area has a day bed which is ideal for the afternoon nap and the lounge area is spacious with both modern and older style Balanese furnishings. The kitchen is well equipped with a four burner upright gas cooker and a fridge/freezer. Fresh drinking water is provided in both the bathroom and the kitchen.
The airconditioned bedroom has three double shutter doors which lets the breeze through and the four poster bed in a joy to sleep on.
The exterior offers verandahs front and rear and the splash pool is ideally located just outside the living area and is great to cool off in.
The gardens and lawns are well manicured and the views to the rice fields are special as the workings go about their daily business.
We found it great to walk down (approx 10 minutes) to the centre of Ubud and found a great little laundry which done our clothes at around $2.00 every two days.
I would highly recommend this property to a couple who is looking for a relaxing break away from the hussle and bussle.

I would just like to thank Mary, Wayan, Made, Ketut and Made (our driver) for the best holiday ever and we will be back next year if we can get a booking before this lovely location is sought after.

If anyone wants any further information on this villa I am happy to answer your emails.

“We Had The Best Holiday Here!”
Reviewed 19 November 2011 for a stay in September 2011

We had a wonderful week at Villa Manis. Within easy walking distance to the heart of Ubud, but tucked away next to rice paddies, it's in a perfect location for those who want to be near to all the restaurants and shopping but also want a lush, beautifully kept garden and peace and quiet. You can walk through the rice fields right outside the Villa -- so beautiful, and you can get some beautiful photos just walking through the village immediately surrounding the house. Here are just a few of the highlights of staying at Villa Manis:

1. The best! breakfasts (which are included in what you pay for the accommodation). We chose western breakfasts of scrambled eggs cooked to perfection, lovely crunchy toast, French butter, lime marmalade, and a big bowl of freshly peeled mango, papaya, banana, and pineapple;
2. There is a driver used by this villa who lives just across the street (lots of space between houses in this part of town - feels very secluded). You can arrange to go on all-day tours with him;
3. If you need anything, the staff is on sight all during the day to help you. The villa is also cleaned on a daily basis. Whenf you are out and about during the day you will see people selling tickets to a fire dance during the afternoon of the performances on your way home. Highly recommended.
4. The gardener, Ketut, who looks after the gardens on these premises, is also a painter.
5. Getting your laundry done is a godsend when you've been travelling around for awhile.
6. There is nothing like a good bed for a good night's sleep! The room is air conditioned. There are few mosquitos in Ubud, but there is a mosquito net - a good one - over the King-size, 4-poster bed, and it is very quiet here;
7. A very reasonable nightly and even better weekly rates. You pay more for less in a lot of the accommodation nearby, which is why it's a good idea to book well in advance for this Villa;
8. It's hot in Bali. You can slip into your own pool just a few steps from your door. Heaven after a day's walking around or touring with the driver!

I could go on. Actually we loved everything about our stay here, spent our down time lazing by the pool reading or swimming. We have done a lot of travelling over many years -- it's not often you get the best of both worlds: complete privacy and quiet village life as well as very easy access to everything you might want and need, plus fantastic service from Mary and her staff. We would love to go back there.
