Owner description: Directed by American wood-firing ceramic artist, Hillary Kane, Gaya Ceramic Arts Center (Gaya CAC) offers a stimulating program of international workshops, continuous weekly wheel throwing classes, and a fabulous ceramic resident artist program. Some might ask... why come half way around the world to learn throwing skills, or to fire a kiln? In our view, setting is everything! Our annual calendar of world class ceramic workshops reflects this: approaching clay not only from the standpoint of a skill-building experience, but also as a creative exploration, tapping stimuli from landscape, architecture, cuisine and culture that cannot be found anywhere else but here in Bali. Gaya CAC coordinates every detail so that participants can focus on the experience at hand—and that experience is indelible: Bali offers fecundity at every juncture---the creative interpretations are endless. WORKSHOPS… Two-week intensive programs taught by internationally renowned ceramic artists from all over the world. CONTINUOUS CLASSES… Weekly tutelage, private lessons, and studio membership passes for an on-the-ground audience. ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM … two-month opportunities for concentration, growth and exposure, attracting professional ceramicists worldwide.

I love ceramics. Gaya ceramics are high quality, beautifully made for your table settings and for your home. I got a cheese plate with a handle that is made of ceramic and flecks of stone. I will definitely come back!

Hi SileneinSing,

We're glad you like your Porcelain with Bali Volcanic Sand cheese board, which is from our Bali inspired collection. It's something special that only the Gaya Ceramic and Design production team does here in Bali.

If you ever want to get your hands in clay then you could take a Throwing Thursday class or 2-week intensive workshop across the road at the Gaya Ceramics Arts Center, which is our community education center. You can visit our website to find more info on all our hands on clay experiences.

Hope to see you in Bali again soon!

We were really excited to try our hand at pot throwing and booked a private class while we were in Ubud. There are a few ceramic studios in the area, but I think we definitely got the best with Gaya. Our instructor Alexis was brilliant. Really helpful and a great teacher. The studio is fantastic, really well-equipped, and we enjoyed our day with them enormously. As a bonus, Moksa, one of the best restaurants in Ubud is a short walk from the centre, so a great place for a lunch break.

Ive heard about the learning studio and came to check it out. What a lovely facility nestled in a quiet neighborhood of Ubud. You can take courses from teachers from around the world. Some very creative works of art on display and for sale. I loved the bamboo concept integrated with the Joglo recycled Java home.
