Owner description: Directed by American wood-firing ceramic artist, Hillary Kane, Gaya Ceramic Arts Center (Gaya CAC) offers a stimulating program of international workshops, continuous weekly wheel throwing classes, and a fabulous ceramic resident artist program. Some might ask... why come half way around the world to learn throwing skills, or to fire a kiln? In our view, setting is everything! Our annual calendar of world class ceramic workshops reflects this: approaching clay not only from the standpoint of a skill-building experience, but also as a creative exploration, tapping stimuli from landscape, architecture, cuisine and culture that cannot be found anywhere else but here in Bali. Gaya CAC coordinates every detail so that participants can focus on the experience at hand—and that experience is indelible: Bali offers fecundity at every juncture---the creative interpretations are endless. WORKSHOPS… Two-week intensive programs taught by internationally renowned ceramic artists from all over the world. CONTINUOUS CLASSES… Weekly tutelage, private lessons, and studio membership passes for an on-the-ground audience. ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM … two-month opportunities for concentration, growth and exposure, attracting professional ceramicists worldwide.

Happened past and were glad we doubled back to look in the shop. Amazing ceramics with unique designs and colours. Also available are fragrances, incense and oils also with unique fragrances. Beautiful displays and great staff. A must stop in.

We visited the two Gaya galleries, over the road from each other. One fine art and exclusive pieces, the other homewares. Both lovely and really worth visiting - a short taxi from the centre of Ubua

I went nuts in this store!! Such cute ceramics!! Great for take home gifts because they have smaller items and pack them with bubble wrap so perfectly! They have beautiful plates, artistic vases and precious tea and coffee cups. Also, a lot of choices for bathroom amenities like toothbrush holder, soap holder etc.
You can find these ceramics all over Ubud!! Four Season Hotel...Locavore resto...Alaya Resorts. They are well known in this area of Bali.
I haven't taken any of their classes but I read good things!!
Definitely check this place out if your into supporting local artisans and not buying your typical "street" gifts.

I have just spent the past 2 weeks participating in a fabulous woodfiring workshop organised by Gaya Ceramics Art Centre, Sayan, Ubud, Bali. Hillary Kane and her dedicated team run internationally renowned ceramic workshops led by master ceramicists/potters/sculptors approximately 6 times a year. The facilities are ideal and the hospitality unforgettable. Each workshop specialises in a clay discipline and is tailored to advance one's aesthetic appreciation for clay forms and cater for individual skill levels no matter what one's previous experience with clay may be. The catering is superb and the planned special excursions and additional spontaneously organised Gaya activities are both educational and spellbinding. These workshops are truly 'value for money' providing professional development outcomes as well as an enhanced Bali holiday experience.
