“Highly Recommended - Superb Staff!”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

Apart from being in a brilliant location if you want to be able to walk around the main area of Ubud, & the hotel itself is very beautiful & immaculately maintained - it is the staff that need to be congratulated on their service for really adding the WOW factor! Each & every staff member always took the time to either just say a friendly hello or keep up with and be sincerely interested our daily outings. We stayed in room 309 in April, lovely light filled room with good views towards the mountains, pool area is gorgeous. Highly recommend this hotel.

We found a little bit of heaven on earth when we entered the reception of Komaneka Rasa Sayang. From the hustle and bustle of the airport and road travel (be prepared for scary driving and extremely busy roads) we were welcomed with cool towels and a refreshing drink whilst our check in was expeditiously handled by the professional and mannerly staff. From introduction, we were referred to by name throughout our three night stay. This is how the Komaneka experience differs from other hotels - it is a friendly (luxurious) home from home. The professionalism, warmth and expertise of ALL of the staff is what makes this a different experience from other hotels. Yes you have all the trappings of a 5* hotel including aesthetically pleasing furnishings, organic local products, beautiful linens etc etc! The rooms are very spacious and airy with stunning bathrooms including a bath and a huge shower (separate toilet). The location is excellent for shopping and meandering around Ubud - right in the midst of everything but very quiet and calming. The pool area is beautifully blended into the landscape - you can take the complimentary afternoon tea there each afternoon and for a change can use any of the other Komaneka hotels for breakfast or tea. In the short time we were there we got to know the staff well and found them all delightful but special mention to Desak who was just lovely and looked beautiful at the "cooking" night in her Balinese dress! Highly recommend to attend the hotel's night where you can experience fabulous local food, Balinese dancing/music and a bit of "craic" with the staff. Suffice to say we did not want to leave the hotel to go to our next Bali destination! It was one of the highlights of our SE Asia trip. Thank you to all the staff x

Room Tip: Try to get to 2nd floor as 1st floor gardens are darkish though handy for the pool. All rooms are qu...

A friend and I stayed here a total of 2 nights. It's located right in town. Which is really convenient, they have shuttle cars free of charge for guest too. The rooms are very nice and clean and has a really romantic ambiance to it. But because I stayed with a friend, that's not what we were after but none the less, the room was still amazing! Staff are all lovely; the only down side, I believe is that the food served at the restaurant was just average, food wasn't consistent, scrambled eggs were watery. One of the tiles in our room were also loose, so when we stepped on it, it would move and make noise. Also, with Internet you would have to consistently log on, instead of being automatically connected, which got really annoying. I'm not sure if other guest had this issue but I had my phone and it just wasn't fun having to log on consistently. Overall, I had a pleasant stay, I would stay there again.

My husband and I spent 5 nights at Komenaka at Rasa Sayang. Family feel from the staff, very friendly. They booked our trip to the Elephant park and were very helpful generally. Lovely big rooms with tropical balcony, good in house movies. Pool area very peaceful, restaurant overlooks the pool. Afternoon tea is a nice touch, complimentary. Fruit and snacks provided. Nice feel of welcome. Good restaurants close as well as Monkey Forrest and cultural buildings. Washing good value, laundry done very quickly. Location a winner, right in Ubud with streets of shops and markets.

We literally booked 2 nights at this hotel 3 days before arriving in Ubud (while we were in Nusa Dua) because we wanted somewhere modern with an indoor shower/bathroom (had some bad experience with outdoor shower earlier in the trip).

Wow, this hotel was amazing! It started with friendly receptionists and a personal tour of the bedroom, a large comfy bed with a lovely heart shaped flower petals arrangement, to a meticulously maintained hotel facility. And the hotel thought of everything - mosquito repellent (all natural), universal outlet adapter, flash light (didn't need to use it), flip flop (in addition to room slipper), and an apple TV...in addition to all the standard amenities in the room.

Breakfast had many choices and I especially enjoyed the Indonesian breakfast. We also took advantage of the free room service during our 1st breakfast and the food came within 20 mins!

Hotel also provided day-time activities for guests to partake - I tried the wood carving and making Balinese offering. It was a great way to learn the Balinese culture. Afternoon tea time by the pool was another plus and it could almost substitute for dinner!!

Oh the infinity pool was relaxing and tranquilizing as we were surrounded by the lush green and trees.

Lastly, location was great. We were close enough to walk to Ubud market and the monkey forest but just the right distance away from all the noises. The hotel also provided free shuttle bus to take you anywhere. The drivers were courteous and friendly and the wait each time was very short!

The only minor complaint I have was that the rooms on the 1st floor (1 level below the reception) had little sun light given the high wall built around the terrace. You might want to request for a room on a higher floor if possible.

All in all, we were so happy with this hotel that we were not ready to leave when it came time to go....

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 2nd floor or above to get more sunlight exposure.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel - great location in the centre of town but as it was set back, noise was not an issue.

Our room was very nice and clean - the bathroom was a particular highlight - and whilst we did not have a view from the room, the view from the restaurant and swimming pool was great.

The main reason for wanting to write a review for this hotel is that the service was fantastic - everyone really tried to go above and beyond (Desak, thank you so much for the coconut on our last day!). The hotel organised a driver for us on one day of our stay, who was brilliant (and worth spending the additional money for - as there are no shortage of drivers offering their services in Ubud).

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel but it does have one major drawback which I must start with not because I am negative but it is vital information for people coming here: There are no views from your room, instead you look at a blank wall about 4 metres in front of your window. For me when I travel half way around the world I would like to see something from my hotel room yet this hotel is wedged into a thin town centre site so you are blanked off fron seeing anything by the building next door righ on the boundary ! Did they build this hotel the wrong way around?? I say this becasue the corridor has an open view with nothing in the way. Why didn't they put the corridor on the other side?? - must have been a reason for this but I couldn't see it.
Apart from this, the hotel is pretty perfect. The rooms are furnished five star with a Balinese wow factor. Glass bathroom walls, deep red upholstery, hardwood panelling on the walls and marble floors. The restaurant and infintiy pool perch above a secret tropical valley that feels lke a rain forest. It's beautiful and the staff are fabulous.
Finally it is right in the middle of the town centre which means it is ultra convenient for getting around - we loved it's location - didn't use a car for four days. Top tips : There are four Komeneka hotels in this town so don't get confused. The Komeneka Bisma is 1 mile out of town but it is bigger and has spectacular views from rooms. They provide a free shuttle bus that takes you anywhere and brings you back form all the Komenekas and The Necka Art gallery is a must free visit - great art and fab architecture. The monkeys can be quite agressive ! My advice: as long as a non view doesn't bother you then come here.

Room Tip: Higher up to get some light into the room.
