“There cannot be a better place in Ubud”
Reviewed 16 November 2013 via mobile

First we booked 3 nights but 10 minutes after we arrived we decided to book one more night, and than one more...
I never met so friendly staff and owners. They will do everything to make your stay perfect without and there's nothing that can't be fixed.
Komang, the manager, booked from cooking courses to boat tickets, gave us the best contacts and all their recommendations were great!
The rooms are beautifully decorated, spacious, perfectly cleaned (twice a day).
Every afternoon we were regarded with a tea or coffee and a homemade small cake.
It's a bit far from Ubud center but that was never a problem since there is a shuttle service at the hotel. Somedays we were the only guests that required the shuttle service so we got to choose exactly when to go and/or be picked up. Anyway, there are taxis everywhere and you get it for around 50000rp.
This was definitely the best place I've ever stayed at and would recommend it to everyone I know!

My wife and I stayed 5 nights in the very spacious lotus room to start our honeymoon. Already at arrival at the airport, the welcome by the taxi driver from the villa with fresh cold towels and ice cold water was a first sign of the excellent service that continued throughout our stay at the villa.

Location was very good 10 minutes drive outside the, for us too touristic, and busy center of Ubud. Taxis are cheap, drivers always very friendly and always available. Walking through the rice fields for little over an hour towards Ubud was among the best activities we had.

Only minor critical point we can think of is that the price is rather high compared to other places we stayed at in Bali, but maybe this is also because lodging at Ubud is more expensive than the less touristic parts.

Overall, our stay was excellent and especially the staff was very kind and welcoming.

This place is incredible. It's just outside of the city center, which is perfect for us. We liked getting away from the hustle and bustle to this quiet, beautiful house. The rooms are very modern and spacious. The closet space is beyond anything I've ever experienced in a hotel. The bathroom had an outdoor shower and tub (the Lotus Room), which we made full use of. The pool is simply amazing. I know this is an odd comment, but the pool chairs were wide and incredibly comfortable; loved them.

Breakfast here was great. Would have liked a bit more fresh juice, but honestly, the amount of food you get is amazing so I don't have a real complaint. Don't make the mistake of skipping out on the banana pancake! They mention that they have a small menu for light lunch/dinner, but I just want to mention that we ordered fried noodles and they were fantastic. They should tout their menu.

Last thing I want to mention is the staff. The hotel manager is great; very seriously attentive to all of our needs. Let's not forget the other staff members, though. They were so, so genuinely kind. Every time we arrived, we were met with smiling faces. They made our stay incredible.

Look forward to coming back to stay here when we're back in Ubud.

This was our second vacation on Bali and this year we spent 4 nights in Ubud. To summarise our experience: this is wonderful villa and we felt at home immediately. The staff is very, very friendly and helpful. The owners are very nice people and the garden & pool are like a little paradise. Breakfast is great as is the shuttle service to Ubud downtown (10 min ride). Whenever we will go back to Ubud, Villa Saraswati will be again our choice.

What an amazing place. We had a week here and were still not ready to leave. Felt so relaxed that it was hard to pack up and leave. All the staff were amazing. It was nice being able to stay somewhere smaller than other places yet still being able to meet other travelers who were staying in other rooms. All lovely people.

Nyepi was an amazing time to be here, when I come back I hope to make it around the time of Nyepi but there were so many other highlights as well: beautiful rooms, lovely pool, Obi's dance demonstration, the cooking class, the great advice and recommendations from owners and staff, the friendly locals and nice taxi drivers, Balinese music (got myself a couple of Gus Teja CDs). Another highlight was being upgraded to a better room when it was discovered we were on our honeymoon - overall just a wonderful place. Can't wait to come back. Couldn't have dreamed of a better honeymoon. Thanks to EVERYONE at Villa Saraswati!

Room Tip: Keep your door closed because those huge geckos can get in and are quite loud in the middle of the n...

Villa Saraswati was perfect, we could not have asked for a better place to stay. It's was my first time at the villa and Cyn's 2nd time. Komang and the staff were so obliging, friendly and courteous. Nothing was ever a problem. Thank you Dean and Robyn for your hospitality. I loved my birthday surprise - Thank you. The villa is well presented and spotless, the beds are comfortable and the atmosphere is just pure relaxation. It was definitely the best part of our holiday I wish we had stayed there longer. The breakfast is nothing short of perfect, the banana pancake was delicious and so was the burger. Thank you very much for making our holiday one to remember. I hope we have an opportunity to return to Bali as I love Ebud and Villa Saraswati. Best wishes to you all from Cyn & Kym xx

Image an open floor plan with beautiful decorations, gentle breezes, and lovely views looking out over the pool, and you will see what greeted us when we first arrived at the Villa. We knew we were in for a fabulous experience. We were welcomed by Komang, the attentive manager, and several members of the helpful staff. Later Robyn and Dean, the owners, introduced themselves and made us feel right at home. The Villa is gorgeous!

We spent our first 4 nights in the Lotus room, an amazing spacious room, walk-in closet, large bathroom with outdoor and indoor showers. We left Ubud to tour around Bali and came back to spend an additional 5 nights in the Swan room, also a lovely room but smaller. Both were beautifully decorated, but the Lotus was special. The bedroom was surrounded by windows on three sides, so when the drapes were opened, you could enjoy tropical foliage all around. Komang set us up with a kettle, coffee, and milk in our fridge so we could have coffee in our room. Having coffee on the balcony was a great way to start the day. At night, we were serenaded by the geckos, roosters, critters and an occasional pig.

A generous breakfast was included and offered an American breakfast or Indonesian--and the best banana pancakes in all of Bali. Fresh fruit, juice and smoothies were available. A few choices for snacks and dinner were available, very reasonably priced. The Villa is located outside of town so having this food avalable was convenient so we didn't have to go back into town for dinner if we had had a late lunch.

A shuttle was availble to take guests into town running on a regular schedule, but exceptions could be made. If necessary taking a taxi back to the Villa was only $6. The Villa also provided sarongs for visits to the temples and offered advice on what to see and do. They could also set you up with a driver.

We felt so pampered. The staff was always available and eager to make our stay enjoyable. Our last night at the Villa was my daughter's birthday. Knowing how much we loved the Lotus Room--and the fact that it was empty--Komang, Robyn, and Dean offered to let us spend our last night there. They decorated the bed with balloons, and the next morning at breakfast, they had a strawberry tart with candle for my daughter. She was pleasantly surprised and appreciated the extra effort to recognize her birthday. Komang also helped us by wrapping several wood paintings to carry on the plane. He went above and beyond providing service.

We were sad to leave the Villa and would make it our home again the next time we're in Bali. Thank you Komang, Robyn, Dean and the wonderful staff for making our days at the Villa so comfortable and enjoyable.

Room Tip: Loved the Lotus Room, but it's one of the more expensive rooms.
