Owner description: The Campuhan Ridge Walk is arguably the best known Ubud trek and with good reason. The sparse crowds and the aesthetically rich vistas remind one of why people from around the world come to Bali. The trail starts at the historical origin of Ubud, the confluence (or Campuhan) of the Wos Rivers.

“Pleasant walk”
Reviewed 1 April 2014 via mobile

I good easy walk to do to get out of the hustle of Ubud. Nothing to spectacular but just enjoy being out for some exercise. Easily signposted from the hotel before the bridge. Start early as it can get rather hot.

“Our last walk in Ubud area”
Reviewed 28 March 2014

Beautiful views, nice walk from more rural areas into the heart of Ubud. We lingered quite a bit-- but I think we spent about 45 minutes on the ridge.

“Different perspective to Ubud Central”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

Really enjoyed walking the Ridge walk last week. My first time and did not know what to expect. Delighted to note refreshment spots and very nice artisan studios.

“Wonderful Green Space in Ubud - Champuan Ridge”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

The Ridge walk in Ubud is a treasure - enter from the Ibah Hotel sign on the right of Jalan Raya somewhat before the Campuan Bridge, coming from Ubud. The path leads you over a river and then you'll come to the Campuan - Campuhan, Campuan, Champuan, Tjampuan!!! Ridge... there are about 6 spellings but don't let that put you off!) A breathtaking open space, you are walking along the top of a mounded hill with a path along the top, surrounded by swaying green alang-alang grass - the kind of grass used for thatching rooves here - sometimes you'll even see a local harvesting it. The walk through nature is lovely and takes about 45 minutes to the end of the ridge - take a hat/sunscreen/water... on arriving at the far end, walk a little further to pass small painting, craft and egg-painting stores, to find at last a cafe with a lovely view of ricefields, and small bales (thatched open wall 'houses') arranged over a lotus pond full of large carp that have the unusual habit of flinging themselves out of the water to slither across the top of the lotus leaves, looking for insects (maybe they were just hungry that day!)

You can walk back to Ubud via the road but that involves a very steep hill..or better, catch a motor bike ride back along the road from someone at the cafe (then you'll see what's involved!). Or of course, you can simply walk back along the ridge.

To walk there and back with a short stop at the cafe, you need about 2 hours.

When you get back, you could pop into the Ibah hotel to see their lovely spherical flower sculpture in the reception made from frangipanis (plumeria) and maybe have a drink in the pretty grounds.

Alternatively pop over the road to Murni's Warung for lunch or dinner - lovely river views, and a very hip bar with a giant metal ganesha.

or cross the bridge, to Bridges restaurant, more upmarket and a truly lovely inspiring and delicious venue for a meal.

“Lovely walk”

Beautiful walk with amazing views and floating cafe and spa at the end of the road. Well worth the effort, best to attempt very early given the heat during the day
