Biyukukung Suites and Spa
Ranked #103 of 199 Hotels in Ubud
Reviewed 25 June 2013

The hotel is located in a rather central part of Ubud I suppose although it still feels rather distant from the heart of the city. It is surrounded by paddy fields in mountainous area so you can expect breathtaking views and cool temperature. Beds are slightly below average, especially the extra bed. Toilets and amenities aren't the best in terms of cleanliness. Breakfast is NOT buffet, but you get to pick a la carte offerings from fried rice to pancakes. The main let down from our stay at Biyukukung is the service and the staffs. The guy who attended to us at the reception is not very friendly and helpful, perhaps even almost rude. Probably because we are local teenagers and not foreign tourists. He even demanded for our room keys when we left the hotel for a morning walk which is unreasonable as all our valuables were still inside. Aside from the extremely poor service, the rest is just fine. Look for an alternative if possible.

As we could only stay during week ends, this hotel was not easy to book due to its high popularity. Fortunately we managed to secure 2 rooms for 3 days at end of March and were happy with our stay.

The rooms and pools were very clean and nice. Frankly, the price we paid was very reasonable in view of all the free facilities & amenities included. The room interior and exterior were very well planned - simple & functional but very stylish. All rooms had open view to a beautiful rice field. The ambiance and serenity were very relaxing too.

Service level had a lot of rooms for improvement especially with the older staff in both restaurant and front desk: they seemed reluctant in meeting guests' needs. Their younger staff (apprentices and new entries) were much more pleasant and accommodating although their knowledge for facilities & service skill must be improved (due to lack of guidance). I felt sorry for such a nice hotel with young enthusiastic staff but mediocre service level among the senior front liners. I tried to meet with the manager (owner representative) but was told that he was away over that week end. That's probably why their service was so slack during our stay.

Definitely this is a great value hotel is your travel style is free & easy.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back were more quiet. The newer rooms next to rear pool were more spacious and more pri...

I LOVE BIYUKUKUNG

This is my first time in Bali and decide to spend 02 nights in Biyukukung. And they didn't make any disappointment for me.

We drive around 01 hours from Ngurarai International Airport to UBUD. Resort is located a bit out of UBUD town, but close to dirty duck and coco supermarket. Location is fine for us because we have a car. If not, this hotel may be a bit out of town for you.

With a warm welcome of staff, they served us a cold fruit juice upon arrival and escort us to room. We book deluxe room, which 02 storied townhouse. Down stair is bathroom with shower , fridge area, and upstairs is the room.

Room is really good, overlooking the step rice field , standard size twin bed with nice wooden floor, good air condition. Bathroom is huge, separate bathtub and shower. They come with HUGE bath where 02 people can use in the same time.

There are 02 swimming pools for 30 rooms , that 's really special. One is located back of reception was nicer than another pool where located in superior area. Both of them overlooking the rice field

Breakfast is decent and up to standard, you can select from menu both western or Indonesia breakfast in set menu, every set come with fresh fruit, juice and coffee. Restaurant is overlooking the rice filed as well.

Resort is free wifi

Improvement

-Cleanliness : Bathroom is a bit dirty, some sand stain on the bathtub
- Wifi is not work well in raining
- Deluxe room is not suitable for children and elderly people. As you have to claim up and own
to the room. The Stair is narrow and you may fall
- No elevator in this hotel

Overall, I am really like this resort , Definitely back if I come back to Bali again

Room Tip: Book Superior is better

We found this on trip advisor & found it well situated and a fairly good place to stay. Breakfast was free & ok as were most breakfasts in bali. The difference is the bacon, milk, eggs, tea & coffee and bread is not the same quality as we get in australia, so that made all breakfast simply ok. Staff very helpful despite the commincation barrier where we were hopless & spoke no Balinese and they tried very hard with the excellent grasp they have of english.Spa treatments half price if you were staying, pretty good though the facial my partner received left her face aching for the rest of the day. We had to makec3 phone calls to chase our washing which took 3 days to get back, but it smelt lovely and was pressed carefully. Having a driver to drop us off and collect us free day or night was excellent. The gardens are immaculate and the 2 pools really lovely. Mosquitoes not too bad at all which was great. This is a very good place to stay in the mid range budget so would happily recommend it.

Greeted with a warm hello by super-friendly staff, and a refreshing welcome-drink was one amazing impression made by Biyukukung. My room wasnt really prepared at the time I was checking in, but staffs explained it very easy to accept and then I waited in the upper balcony with paddy field as its scene. I tried the spa's services, it was all great. Comfortable guest room. I really had the best time enjoying Ubud by staying in Biyukukung. Located near by main roads makes it all very memorable.

Room Tip: Deluxe Room would be better, especially if you can choose one nearby the spa and 2nd pool.

Located a very short stroll off the main strip is this unique hotel. Less than a 10 minute stroll along the steet to the monkey Forrest. Expect to pay around 250,000 rupiah to get here from kuta/airport. Greeted with a warm hello and arrival drink, our room a deluxe twin was two story. Room with small balcony over looking rice paddy fields, bathroom is downstairs. Great unique accomodation, only thing to be mindful of is no street noise but nature noise like frogs, crickets, chickens etc but we loved it here. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, it was well kept and clean, breakfast had a good choice and great view! No food after 2pm but lots of local resturants so
This wasn't an issue. Ideally
Located for holy spring temple, elephant cave, volcano, coffee plantations etc which hotel were more than happy to help arrange tours for. Lovely private pools, deff stay again, forgiving the natural noises at night a 10 out of 10 for everything

The decoration and the environment impressed me the most. Besides that, the staffs at the reception are very helpful. Receptionist named Bawa who helped us the most even with our car rental and other bookings as some of the Indonesians are not really good in speaking English especially through the phone. We got 50% off with the spa and massage treatment as we are the guest of the hotel although the price is not the cheapest you can find in Ubud. One thing to mention, the wifi didn't work in our room hopefully this problem has been solved. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay at Biyukukung Spa and Suites, will definitely come back if we plan to visit Ubud next time.
