Very nice gardens, very nice staff, but food very hit and miss. Bar was never open, nor was the pool. Just boring really... No view from emerald, lots of Mosquitos and not much for kids to do. Unfortunate because a friend recommended, I must have had a bad experience.

We stayed in the River villa for 10 days. An experience of the essence of the place, tucked away on the river Wos this hotel is only for people who really want to experience a real aspect of real Bali; if you want western style in Bali probably not for you.
The river from the balcony offers a range of changing scenes from people bathing and washing, children swimming and playing to uninterrupted vistas of the flowing river and sounds of water birds, frogs and if you’re lucky maybe monkeys.
We had two monkeys, numerous frogs visit us, bats fly through the coconut palms near the balcony, and a resident Tokay that ensued we had a special time. We discovered that the Tokay, a large and colourful gecko, is plentiful in Bali and throughout Southeast Asia, you hear them much more often than you see them. They make the most fantastically unlizard-like sound and they are very good luck, ours kept us company at night living in the ceiling, busying itself during the night.
The gardens and grounds at Bali Spirit are beautiful and very serene, great pool, fine restaurant with many other great food spots nearby. The shuttle service runs a few times during the day and is very inexpensive if you want to use it in your own time. Staff are caring and generous spirited, always ready to help.
My only minor criticism would be the massage, expensive compared to others around the area.
We will definitely stay again in Bali Spirit, the spirit of Bali. Thank you!

The Ubud city as it self is a place were to stay during vacation to Bali. The Ubud city and the region around is real Bali. I loved the most stay in Ubud city, the people abd atmosfere.

The hotel is perfect, very good location- just 7min walk from Monkey forest. 15 min walk from center of Ubud.

The staff is very nice and helpfull. Pool and view amazing.

We stayed in suite- it is a bungalo type house just for two, with private garden & terace. Nice.

We totally enjoyed our stay at Bali Spirit. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was clean. Breakfast could be a bit better but overall we loved it. Lots of steps to navigate but we expected that. We would definitely go back.

Room Tip: We were lucky enough to be upgraded to the honeymoon suite and it was beautiful.

This hotel really surprised us by its green location and the truly "back to nature" feeling. We staied at a small cottage 3 near the river that does not have much isolation, but is perfectly functional. You are woken up by the birds singing and insects outside the room.
While the room is pretty small and quite dark due to the dark wood walls, the bathroom is open to a small garden and consists of two parts: the toilet and shower and rather a big room with sink, big table and minibar. Though the garden is just couple of meters big, you get a feeling that you are really close to nature, probably a bit too close for some, as in the evening you feel a bit worried if some snakes, gegos, insects get into your bathroom. You get used to it after a couple of days, and no, we did not get visits by snakes, but a couple of big gegoes were sitting at the ceiling and the moksitos can definitely fly by from time to time as it is open roof. Gegos and insects are such a common feature of Bali that you would see them almost everywhere you go. Please do not get worried by my description, they do get some other types of rooms for those who prefer closed bathrooms, but you would most likely not get the same feeling of being close to paradise.
The restaurant serves tasty food and the swimming pool is also a nice escape from hot Bali temperatures. For breakfast you get a choice between toast/cornflakes/croassan, egg, fresh juice or fruit, tea/coffee, which was sufficient and tasted well. The hotel is pretty small and during our stay less then 50 % was occupied which made us really feel privacy and peace.

All in all this is a very nice and special in its nature hotel without luxury feel, but with the feel of peace and harmony.

Among the critical points i would like to mention the fact that we were really missing a big mirror in the room and the safe location was rather uncomfortable. You have to go to the bathroom every single time you want to use the mirror and it is quite uncomfortable as the clothes are in the room as well as in the evening you do not want to go to a dark bathroom to use the mirror.

You have to keep the door between the bathroom and the room closed all the time to avoid insects, but the outside door to bathroom does not have any handle and it makes it difficult to close properly.
The room was pretty dark if you kept the curtains closed, but if you opened the curtains you felt a bit exposed and lacked privacy.

The surroundings of the hotel are just perfect - the river, the jungle - it is really a tropical paradise.
However, the rooms look very tired, the water pressure in the shower is extremely bad - and for me this is one of the crucial things when checking the room.
The breakfast is very poor - I always wonder why is it so difficult to get a plate full of fresh fruits on an island that is nursing with amazing and cheap fruits?
Revamp is more than needed.
Other than that, it is great value for money and staff was very helpful and polite.

I was looking for a place to relax in Ubud. Despite the hotel is a bit far from city center, they provide a free shuttle to city center of Ubud. The hotel is well inserted into nature but all facilities is getting a bit old, hope they will refresh it soon.
