We stayed in march 2012 and we loved this hotel! It's right where you want to be in Ubud. The rooms are basic but not expensive either. The rooms and swimmingpool are situated in a lovely garden with little statues, just beautiful. And the staff is incredibly friendly and always there to help you. Rooms were cleaned every day. Some days we had rain and the staff came to us at breakfast asking what we wanted to do and arranged transport for us. Would highly reccomend this hotel!

We just spent 5 nights here and had a thatched rough cottage, really a basic room with balcony overlooking the pool in the central courtyard. The pool is very large and clean and towels always provided. The aircon works, just, but the extra fan was definitely needed, a little noisy. The bathroom was very basic by Bali standards and rather worn and small, but clean.

The grounds of the hotel are very traditional with amazing vine covered steps and private bungalows for some of the guests. It's a peaceful location for town but you still will hear some gentle Balinese music until around midnight especially around the festivals.

The breakfast included is very basic, unimpressive cooking, coffee and tea undrinkable. Luckily there is the outstanding Kafe restaurant 100 yards up the road from the hotel with incredible fresh juices, patisseries, and healthy cheap meals all day long.

We arrived in the evening and found the welcome a little dry compared to other hotels, the staff carried only two of our many bags up and down the numerous steps throughout the hotel and up to our room.

There is also a tendency for the staff to hassle you each morning asking you where you are going each day and which company you have booked. It felt like the Stasi were following our every move each day. Obviously they feel the need to make extra money from booking tours around the area. Our advice... politely decline and say you are there relax.

Overall the location is so good and the hotel clean and price correct enough that the little faults can be overlooked. Not bad!

Very lovely and comfy poolside. Felt really comfortable and secure after 2 really bad experiences in other hotels around Bali. Really nice garden, like an oasis. Staff was genuinely friendly, not like in Kuta or Gilis. Maybe needs some refurbishment, but it didnt matter that much.

Situated in the centre of Ubud well back from busy Hanoman Street adjacent to rice paddies, the hotel's main attributes are its well maintained and interesting gardens, its friendly and helpful staff and a lovely pool. The rooms (ours had aircon) are in typical Balinese style on two or three levels, and are clean and comfortable but a bit gloomy inside. The low water pressure in our room meant that the lack of a shower curtain for the over-bath shower was not a major problem. There is good free wifi in the pool/restaurant area. The included breakfast was adequate and nicely served beside the pool but was rather limited in choice.
Overall this is a quiet and very pleasant place to stay, let down by just a few minus points.

Artini 2 is a lovely place, in the centre of Ubud, but yet very quiet.
Nice swimming-pool, nice rooms and very friendly and helpful staff.
Breakfast was nice too.
The only "con" was that the wi-fi worked only in the breakfast / pool area.
But that's a minor detail.
The rooms that overlook the pool are quite nice.

We stayed here as part of an Intrepid tour in Jan/Feb 2011. I had read some reviews beforehand so knew to ask for the brick built rooms, ie. not the thatched roof room as apparently they come with um.. visitors!
We were given a nice room on the second floor with a lovely balcony over looking the pool.. the room itself was decent enough.. traditional balinese wooden design , fairly dark. The "bathroom" as in most budget places was a toilet with the "one hose does all" job..not spiffy clean but not dirty either.. manageable Lol! the sinks etc are in the bedroom which means you can get some cockroaches so dont leave stuff lying around. Im used to budget accommodation as Ive done lots of tours but I came here directly from Bali Hyatt in Sanur so it was a bit of an adjustment! And some friends that stayed in the thatched roof rooms did have some droppings etc on their beds when they returned out from the um visitors that live in the roofs! That said the staff were lovely, the grounds are beautiful and the pool is good size and perfect for chilling out. The location is great, smack bang in the centre of Ubud which is a great place, lively with lots of great art for sale and some really good restaurants to boot. And there is a beautiful hilltop walk that must be done, followed by a fish pedicure! Try Kafe if you are in the mood for healthy homecooked food.. they do "raw" options here and great for vegans/vegetarians. the food is top quality and its a really nice place to just sit and watch the world pass by. The staff are all kids from the cartering school next door.
And you should definitely buy the lovely incense they sell here.. especially the "bugs away" one which came in very handy throughout our trip in Bali/Lombok.
We stayed one more night in Artini on the way home and were given the stone bungalows..such a difference! The rooms are genuinely lovely ..again theyre not maintained as well as they should, its the norm unfortunately in Bali things like peeling paint, damp patches etc.. however the room was huge with a massive bed, tv, fridge, dvd player and enormous bathroom.
If youre looking for 5 star modern accommdation then this isnt the place for you.. to be blunt maybe Bali isnt the place for you! But these rooms do the trick and as long as youre not too fussy theyre fine, location for me being most important with nice staff and food to follow and gorgeous grounds. Yes the rooms are a bit hit and miss but that kinda adds to the charm of the place.. nothing better than sitting on a rickety balcony overlooking the pool with a cool beer and listening to the family in the house next door get ready for dinner!

Room Tip: As for pool facing or at least a stone/brick built room.
