I have stay for a night here while my travel accompanying friends who done food photography. We arrive very late at the night and lucky that still a room for us.

The step down to the room little bit dark and we got the room close to the end down the alley and the pool. Room conditions is simple and look already little bit olds. But still okay for sleep overnight.

We wake up early in the morning for going to Ubud market and when back we got simple breakfast. It's were standard breakfast and not special one.

Overall the hotel is fine located close by the Monkey Forest or Dirty duck restaurant just path away from the hotel. There is nice rice fields view in front of the hotel and garden view for you stay on the room down to the valley.

But will be difficult if you bring some bags to come down and up from the front office to your room.

Stayed at Artini 2 cottages for 1 night as part of Intrepid's Lombok tour (TISL).

Pros:

Very well located, in the heart of the city;
Good value for the money;
Basic but clean rooms with a certain Balinese charm;
Beautiful, eerie pool which illuminates the grounds at night;
Nice personnel;
Good free Wi-fi from hotel lobby;
Breakfast was basic but quick, even for a relatively large group (10 people + other guests).

Cons:

Access is a tad troublesome: you have to reach a sideways alley, walk down steps and further a few metres to reach reception; not ideal when you're in a hurry or have to lug your suitcase in and out of there. That being said, the walkway feels quite open and safe. It's just not obvious.

Though grounds are beautiful and lush with tropical vegetation, this attracts mosquitoes and the like (we shared our room with a gecko) and overall does not feel as 'clean' as other places.

Personnel is kind and helpful; their English is sufficient: they understand the basics (e.g.: reserve a room; transfer a call; room key etc.) but any request slightly out of the ordinary and they are at a loss (e.g.: explaining why we have no aircon in the Intrepid package though the unit is right there in our room + giving the option of paying extra for it; understand basic questions like : what time do stores close?).

Overall, if you are not fussy, either about comfort or about requests, this hotel is a great choice and great value.

If you rely on your hotel a lot for personnel support and Western standards of comfort (e.g.: less bugs; easier access to reception and rooms; cleaner feel to the rooms; personnel a bit more fluent in English; basic but good food), you may want to shop around, I have seen and heard of better options on these criteria and in this price range.

I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend at the start and end of a tour we were taking with Intrepid Travel. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous! The gardens are immaculate and there are people tending to the gardens all day making sure everything is tidy. The pool is very modern but surrounded by statues and landscapes which are very traditional making for a lovely setting. All of the staff were friendly and always available to help. The rooms weren't anything outstanding however they were comfortable, there was hot water, there was a safe to keep valuables. The rooms were always clean and tidy and the room service was great.

We stayed in two different rooms at Artini 2. At the start of the trip we were down stairs from the pool in a room with a fan where we could hear the roosters in the morning (this may annoy some people but we didn't mind) and at the end of the trip we were at the bottom of the first set of stairs from the road. This room was massive and had the added benefit of no wild life noises in the early hours of the morning

The hotel is in walking distance of the Monkey Forrest, all the local shops, restaurants and markets. Such a great location

I stayed at Artini 2 Cottages in April 2012 alone. Upon arriving at Artini 2 Cottages I was struck by the beautiful grounds of the hotel. It is typical Ubud – leafy, tropical and peaceful. The hotel has an authentic Balinese feel to it with water features and ornate stone carvings and fountains dotted around the gardens. I opted for a fan room which was on the ground floor so no thatched roof which I was pleased about after reading other reviews! The room itself was fairly basic (although it did still have a traditional Balinese feel to it), comfortable and clean and there was a nice, little, shaded terrace area in front. The doors didn’t quite close properly and needed to be locked with a padlock which wasn’t ideal but in terms of safety, I wasn’t worried and valuables can be locked away in a locker in the reception area when you’re out. The pool area was the perfect place to relax with a fresh fruit juice when I didn’t feel like exploring in the heat and the staff were generally really friendly and helpful. The hotel is perfectly located to explore Ubud and everything you could need was only a short walk away (which is important because Bali’s famous blue taxis aren’t allowed in Ubud so the only ‘taxis’ are guys on mopeds – and I didn’t fancy getting on the back of one of those). Also, if you’re interested in yoga, Yoga Barn is a only five minute walk away. There’s a great café/restaurant over the road called ‘Kafe’ and there is a fantastic spa called ‘Zen Spa’ is right next to Yoga Barn which does the best Balinese massages for around £8.

Very nice and cosy with charming swiming pool! The rooms are clean and staff is very friendly. The hotel is in a good position: close to Yoga Barn and not far from Monkey Forest or ARMA Museum. But if you want to save the money choose the Artini 1 Cottages - it's just across the road, it's cheaper and you enjoy the same the swiming pool of Artini 2 Cottages free of charge:))

This hotel is great value - large pool, good breakfast/service, pretty gardens, quite basic rooms but clean and spacious, inside bathroom with hot water. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, would definitely stay there again. Only downside is the rooster which wakes you up early morning, but this is common all over Bali...
