“Good value for money if you bargain, but aging”
Reviewed 1 January 2013

In October my friend and I stayed at Pradha for the seond time in as many years. Two years ago it was a little frayed around the edged but the great staff, facilities and proximity to central Ubud made it worth it. this time around, it's more than a little frayed (fix the pool tiles, already, it's been at least two years!) but the location still works in Pradha's favour. There are only 6 guest rooms (very large bedroom - 3 downstairs with double beds, 3 upstairs with twins) with separate bathrooms, a fridge and airconditioning. The price (bargain hard and get it for about half advertised in the off season and when staying for more than a few days) includes breakfast which is quite good. The compound itself has a small bar overlooking the pool (small but perfectly fine for such a small number of guests), a restaurant, the prime seats of which overlook the neighbouring nightly dance troupe, a spa treatment facility and, downstairs, a laundry (very cheap and very good), a small internet/second hand book type place, a small shop (all basics such as water, tissues etc) and a reception which can do tour bookings. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the food is fair to middling but at a good price and while the rooms are really tired, the location in spot on for parking yourself for a few days in Ubud - far enough up the street to be off the main drag but close enough to walk to the markets, Monkey Forest Road etc.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms (although seem to be all twins) seem more secure as they have a proper lock on th...

Before going to this restaurant, we had been in about 10 others in Ubud (indonesian and western food), all being from correct to excellent quality .
When we arrived to have dinner at this place, there was a group paying the bill and complaining between them about this place.
We quickly understood why. We ordered one pizza and one pasta. The pizza was just a big baked paste with a kind of tomato ketchup on it and some meat that was obviously not fresh. Awfull, I could not eat it. Concerning the pasta, the portion was ridiculous and so finished within three forks.
We calmly explained all this to the waitress. So, they kindly excused, offered us a fruit salad and cut off the taxes for the bill. We finally paid like 100.000 RP. But what a poor place ! We will sure never come back to it.

We stumbled on the Pradha one night while looking for somewhere to have dinner (we didn't stay in the rooms there). We sat on the balcony and it just happened to be at the same time as the evening traditional Balinese dance show (7.30-8.30)....wow what an experience!

We had a top spot, looking down from the balcony and watching the show while drinking Bintang beer and ate balinese food. We would recommend the 'Package deals' on the menu, for around $6 you get a 3 course Balinese dinner.

Room Tip: Have dinner at 7.30 and watch the traditional Bali dancers.

We stayed at Pradha during the Ubud writer's festival. It was essential for us to be in the town centre and we weren't disappointed by the location. As the previous guests have mentioned - despite the central location it is still very quiet. The decor is true balinese style and very cozy. The was basic but clean, with a nice balcony. The only downside was the bathroom; the water takes time to heat up, however it was not a majorly disturbing problem.
The breakfast was great (I strongly suggest to try the Balinese one), all in all we really have nothing to complain about. Especially seen how we booked it very last minute and how cheap it was considering the location.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. the staff very friendly, we were the only ones staying so got a great price. It feels like you are far away from the centre yet it's just off road. Has a very serene vibe and lovely outlook over the pool and dining area (which over looks a dancing stage_bonus). Recommend
P.s yes the water pressure is low and hot water is temperamental but its bali _ who really cares.

Found this hotel by chance just off Jl Raya right in the middle of town. We were able to negotiate a very good deal as we were planning a "long stay" of 6 nights. Our room was upstairs with a balcony and very comfortable despite the hot water being a bit erratic. It was good to have the airconditioning and the clean deep swimming pool was a real bonus.
Dropped the keys off each day and the room was well cleaned with fresh towels and beds made.
It was handy, for a small fee, being able to access the several computers available and also make local and international calls. A laundry next door meant my limited changes of clothes worked really well.
The staff were young, friendly and helpful.
The restaurant was excellent with breakfast included in the price. We also had one lunch and dinner there and the food was delicious. I enjoyed the meals there as much as any of the many other eating places we went to.
Had a couple of gentle massages in the spa - one on my back, neck and shoulders just before flying out.(The best idea I ever had...no stiff neck at all after my flight home.) The spa offered a discount for guests.
As it was my first trip to Bali the central location was a real bonus....many places were within walking distance and there were always taxis available. If you follow Jl Kajeng you within a short time you pass a little local school , cross a bridge and find you are in the rice fields. An early morning walk in this direction was a delight...everyone setting up and not pushing to buy anything.
There was some pressure in the hotel to buy tickets, work out a program etc but it didn't create any problems for us. Lovely young people just trying to make a living.
So many thanks to Wayan and Edy on reception, Wayan who drove us out on a day trip and all the other staff.

We (two young American males) stayed here for a couple of nights in late September, following the recommendation of the Lonely Planet guidebook. All said, it seemed unworthy of the guidebook's recommendation.

The property is pretty, and very central. There are only six rooms, each of which have a private balcony or porch overlooking the pool. The room was plain but clean, though when we arrived we had to request towels. Similarly, we were told upon checkout that we would have had to leave our key at the front desk had we wanted our rooms made up during the day. Hot water was advertised, but it was very finnicky and we could never get the shower temperature right.

We were surprised that during the week of the big Idul Fitri holiday, the hotel and its restaurant were usually empty. Perhaps because of this, the manager was far too eager to assist us with selling us on a "program" for the day, or on having us eat in the restaurant.

  • Liked — It is definitely a pretty property.
  • Disliked — Service
