“Delightful stay in very central location”
Reviewed 9 October 2010

Found this hotel by chance just off Jl Raya right in the middle of town. We were able to negotiate a very good deal as we were planning a "long stay" of 6 nights. Our room was upstairs with a balcony and very comfortable despite the hot water being a bit erratic. It was good to have the airconditioning and the clean deep swimming pool was a real bonus.
Dropped the keys off each day and the room was well cleaned with fresh towels and beds made.
It was handy, for a small fee, being able to access the several computers available and also make local and international calls. A laundry next door meant my limited changes of clothes worked really well.
The staff were young, friendly and helpful.
The restaurant was excellent with breakfast included in the price. We also had one lunch and dinner there and the food was delicious. I enjoyed the meals there as much as any of the many other eating places we went to.
Had a couple of gentle massages in the spa - one on my back, neck and shoulders just before flying out.(The best idea I ever had...no stiff neck at all after my flight home.) The spa offered a discount for guests.
As it was my first trip to Bali the central location was a real bonus....many places were within walking distance and there were always taxis available. If you follow Jl Kajeng you within a short time you pass a little local school , cross a bridge and find you are in the rice fields. An early morning walk in this direction was a delight...everyone setting up and not pushing to buy anything.
There was some pressure in the hotel to buy tickets, work out a program etc but it didn't create any problems for us. Lovely young people just trying to make a living.
So many thanks to Wayan and Edy on reception, Wayan who drove us out on a day trip and all the other staff.

We (two young American males) stayed here for a couple of nights in late September, following the recommendation of the Lonely Planet guidebook. All said, it seemed unworthy of the guidebook's recommendation.

The property is pretty, and very central. There are only six rooms, each of which have a private balcony or porch overlooking the pool. The room was plain but clean, though when we arrived we had to request towels. Similarly, we were told upon checkout that we would have had to leave our key at the front desk had we wanted our rooms made up during the day. Hot water was advertised, but it was very finnicky and we could never get the shower temperature right.

We were surprised that during the week of the big Idul Fitri holiday, the hotel and its restaurant were usually empty. Perhaps because of this, the manager was far too eager to assist us with selling us on a "program" for the day, or on having us eat in the restaurant.

  • Liked — It is definitely a pretty property.
  • Disliked — Service

I stayed at the Pradha Guesthouse with my mother for 3 nights. Very amateuristically run litthe guesthouse. My mother and I stayed in room number 5. The bathroom was not clean when we arrived and for the consecutive 3 days we did not receive any fresh towels and our room and bathroom were not cleaned. The staff did realize this and used the excuse of a holy hindu holliday for not doing their work. Also it was not possible to shower because of plumbing problems. Overall not a great place to stay except maybe for the central location.

We stayed here on our last night in Ubud.

Clean, comfortable, no frills rooms in the heart of Ubud. My husband loved the pool which is small but the deepest we encountered on Bali.

Breakfast was a good start to our last day before travelling to Seminyak. The front desk were really friendly and organised a taxi to Seminyak for us (a friend of the man on front desk). The taxi driver was very nice only chatting when we asked him questions until he got onto the subject of football. My husband realised en-route that he had forgotten his phone/pda so the driver called Pradha only to discover that when we first set off we had been followed by someone from the guest house trying to return the phone to us. He (Made) drove all the way from Ubud the next day by scooter to return the phone to us.

The extremley honest and helpful staff at this hotel make it above average and from reading the guest book in the room we are not the only guests who rate it highly.

  • Liked — The massive bed which apparently sleeps a family of 5 (read in the guestbook) and the helpful front desk
  • Disliked — It wasn't really honeymoon material but was great for 1 night
