The WAKA di UME is a haven of traditional architecture and charm just a short ride or reasonable walk from downtown Ubud, Bali. Surrounded by picturesque rice paddies and local farms, the now WAPA di UME retains its welcoming atmosphere, individual cottages with private pools, excellent service and relaxing spa. We loved every minute of our four days there and plan to return as soon as possible.

Room Tip: Our detached cottage with private pool was at the far end of a lovely corridor lined with flowering...

We stayed at the Wapa Di Ume for our wedding anniversary for 4 nights. The hotel is beautiful and the setting is perfect. The rooms were amazing and the staff could not do enough for you. The food was great, we had breakfast and an evening meal there one night. Ubud itself is great and so much to see and do. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and wish we could have stayed longer.

We ended up at Wapa di Ume very randomly and just for one night before leaving Bali to the Gilis.

The place is stunning. I loved the fact that in spit of the luxurious flair, the surrounding rice fields and overall sacred feeling of Ubud is somehow intact.

Lovely pool - a bit small but most pools in Bali are - ok food (we just had burgers, salads and other simple things). Amazing bathroom in the room with a crazy large bathtub and everything you need - which made us feel at home!

Beds are comfortable and equipped with a mosquito net but we didn't have mosquitoes in the room which was perfect, clean and tidy.

We had a massage at the SPA which was awesome. The staff was great and very professional.

The views on the rice fields are priceless. Highly recommended.

We had 3 nights at the Wapa di Ume - 1st-4th August. Loved every moment of it and wished we'd booked for longer. Have only ever been to Ubud for day trips and didn't realize how much there is to do there. We were so busy we didn't have enough time to relax and enjoy the beautiful pool area enough - only managed a few hours. Their watermelon mojitos by the pool are fantastic.

We had the lead in room and we more than happy. The room and bathroom was big and airy. Although its nice to have your own private villa, if your budget doesn't stretch that far, you won't feel like you've missed out in the lead in. Our little front patio looked out over the rice paddies and it felt quite luxurious.

We had lunch at the restaurant a couple of times and had some of the best vegetarian food I've ever had. We also did a cooking course and really enjoyed it. We went into the food market at 7am, before it turns into the tacky tourist market. It's where the locals do their trading and buying and you really got a feel for the Balinese life. We cooked ourselves dinner that night which was lots of fun and tasty. Highly recommend it.

We wanted to do the rice paddy tour but, we didn't have the right shoes. Make sure you take walking shoes that you mind getting dirty.

The property is only about 5 minutes from the Ubud centre and there is a shuttle every hour. All the staff were lovely and very helpful. Really pleasant and couldn't do enough to help. My only regret is we didn't stay longer......next time.

What a sensational small hotel/private villa resort. 1min from the main street of Ubud by car/bike yet set on the serenity of the rice fields and the river. The hotel staff all remember your name and they cannot do enough to make your stay enjoyable. I read some feedback about their breakfasts not measuring up before my stay and I can tell you they have resolved that issue - it's the best meal of the day! Watermelon jam (made at 5am each morning so its perfect everytime) was a new treat. The spa/massage/yoga facilities are awesome. The pool is stunning and feels really private. They hold a 'cultural night' on Tuesdays where you can hear the stories behind their beautiful dances, and even join in or just get a photo afterward. There is a traditional balinese outdoor kitchen with a private banquet area for lovers to enjoy a romantic dinner/breakfast set into the ricefields. They also teach Balinese cooking and take you to the local markets to collect produce but we didn't get the chance to do it. The staff like to help you build your activity itinerary to ensure you are well informed and delighted - so do take their advice. The rooms are stunning, huge, with massive beds and glass doors leading onto porches where you can watch the fireflies in the rice fields at night. It's my kind of perfection to chillout from a busy life. The shower can be a bit tricky, but they fixed it for us so the lesson was - just ask and ye shall receive. Gusti the Manager and his staff run a hotel they can be very proud of, and they are, for good reason. Can't wait to go back again.

Room Tip: We upgraded from a standard suite to a larger suite before arriving, but as it turns out, they are a...

We stayed for 6 nights at Wapa recently and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This hotel only has 16 rooms / villas so has a very intimate feel, and the staff are all so friendly and helpful. The hotel is far enough out of town to be quiet and feel a million miles from what is becoming quite a busy town in Ubud. The regular shuttle buses provided a great (and free way) to get in and out of town a few times a day.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a great family vacation that started with a good driver picking us up at the airport.

Pros of the hotel:
- good location for Ubud and the surrounded attractions.
- the rooms are a perfect combination of rustic environment and modern services (plus we love the view)
-breakfast is good

Cons:
- do not take the cultural diner: dances are good but the food was cold and the service slow.
