“Simply stunning”
Reviewed 3 November 2010

From the moment we arrived and were greeted with a cold drink and a fresher towel, we slipped into relaxation! The rooms are beautiful and exactly like the pictures online (there’s no trick photography like some other bali hotels!) We booked a Lanai room and were unexpectedly upgraded to a Pool Villa which was the highlight of our holiday. We spend hours on our balcony watching the village people work in the rice fields below. The staff are extremely friendly, the breakfast is fantastic (and huge!) and the location is amazing (its not right in the action but they offer a free hourly shuttle down to town) We didn’t try the day spa but it like deluxe! I honestly couldn’t recommend the Wake Di Ume highly enough and would advise people to book return transfers with their taxi driver as there are no taxis in Ubud and the local drivers charge triple the amount. The hotel also offer transfers however I didn’t enquire about the rate. A big thank you to the Wake Di Ume for really making my holiday!

absolutely beautiful and a very relaxing hotel. stunning rooms and bathrooms, luxe pool and gardens. service absolutely A1. the little touches everywhere make the experience that bit more special.
even though slightly out of town, hourly shuttle service is very easy and always on time.
restaurant and tea room are superb.
i highly recommend this as a great place to stay if you want to slow down and relax a bit in ubud.

Stayed at Waka Di Ume for 6 nights. The setting was peaceful with rooms overlooking a rice paddy. Being a boutique resort it was not busy so the pool was not crowded. The rooms were beautifully clean and spacious. The stand out feature is the friendliness of the staff on all levels from the gardening staff to management; ever willing to help and always cheerful. Just a little way from Ubud but frequent shuttle services were appreciated. The breakfast menu was excellent with a choice of Western or Balinese, and plentiful at that. The afternoon teas and evening meals were also presented with grace and charm. After having stayed at several types of accomodation in Bali, my husband and I would be very happy to recommed the Waka di Ume, so much that we are already planning our next visit there. Wouldn't go anywhere else now.

We spent 2 nights at this resort and was way too short. We stayed in an upstairs villa with a garden bath, overlooking the rice fields. The staff were amazing, helpful and friendly. We had the wonderful opportunity of attending their cooking class. It was a great experience, the chef was very patient with my husband who had never cooked before. We loved the market experience and thoroughly enjoyed cooking in a traditional Balanese style kitchen. The best part was eating our 3 course menu, with a glass of wine overlooking the rice fields.
We also did an early morning rice trek, our guide was a hotel staff member who was lots of fun and gave us lots of information about rice growing and the culture of Balanese people.

Meals at Waka di Ume were wonderful. We also took the opportunity and had a message and I had a facial at the hotel spa, both were heaven. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to any guests that want a relaxing yet cultural visit to Ubud.

We only stayed 2 nights and that is my greatest regret. This resort (although very small - only 16 rooms) is just stunning. Even the smallest /cheapest rooms are huge. Its not a budget hotel but it is certainly great value for money. Located with an outlook across rice fields and dense "jungle" like forest at the rear of the property. The staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful. Small restaurant with lovely food and very tasty breakfast. Beautiful spa and massage facilities even though we didn't have time to take advantage of it. It is a very romantic place and whilst romance was not on our agenda this time around, next time my partner and I will enjoy a few days here taking advantage of the local attractions and activities offered by the hotel - such as a cooking class. Highly recommend.

We arrived tired and weary after traveling with our 20 month old daughter but we felt immediately relaxed the second we arrived. This is a small resort but beautifully designed. The staff are attentive and genuinely friendly. Waking in the mornings to the sun over the rice paddies was everything you dream of when you think of ubud. The spa was beautiful and well priced compared to other resorts. We had lunch at kupa kupa barong which is far more expensive but not nearly as beautiful or well designed. If you like Balinese design with a modern take this place is a great example. Close to the town as well. Not the most baby friendly with many steps and lily ponds everywhere but that's ubud!

We just returned from 2 nights at Waka di Ume. We were unexpectedly upgraded to the family villa with pool - the best of the hotel. It was simply amazing, and by far the most luxurious accommodations we've ever stayed at.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and always seemed genuinely interested in stopping for a chat. The restaurant food was outstanding - we at breakfast (2x), lunch (1x) and dinner (1x) there and were always impressed. The prices were also reasonable and comparable to the places in town, so you did not feel like you were being 'ripped off' by eating at the hotel - something all to common in other places.

The location offers spectacular vistas for photographs, whether from the villa or from the restaurant, or from anywhere on the grounds.

The free shuttle into town (5 min drive) is offered almost every hour all day.

This is the perfect location to relax and enjoy serenity and luxury - a striking change from Kuta.
