Simply superb. If you're looking for a quiet escape away from the crazy times, but still within touching distance of the town, this might be for you.

The hotel itself is situated in a beautiful valley, overlooking a river and surrounded by trees. There are lots of ponds dotted throughout the hotel, with frogs, lizards, butterflies and birds everywhere. The views are fantastic.

Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, food is great, and the rooms are clean and tidy. The whole place has a very authentic feel to it, and you really feel at home in the forest!

Of course, there are a lot of steps and some of the rooms require quite a climb to get to breakfast, but that's all part of the experience, and the hotel is all better for it!

The spa is the real gem of this hotel, hidden away at the bottom of the valley. I've never seen anything like it.
Stayed for a week and was in the spa every day to relax.

Other things worth a mention are that this hotel, being in the valley, avoids the constant noise of traffic on the street outside; you really can't hear it at all. It's also only a ten minute walk to the centre of Ubud, but far enough away to avoid the throngs of people, traffic, and unsavoury smells of the town.

Loved it.

Stayed for two nights last week and loved every minute. Shuttle buses on the hour into town(only a15 minute walk and the buffet breakfast was fantastic. Rooms was large airy and we'll appointed but it is the view from the balcony that is simply stunning . The garden setting sprawling over the river bank has to be seen to be believed. If you have an eye for beauty and and a love of history and nostalgia this place is for you. Will never forget our memories of tjampuha, a big thank you to all the staff who do an amazing job.

There is something captivating about this hotel, perhaps it's the sheer age and wonderment of what this would have been like in the 1920's, you can tell it would have been very grand in its day. It is still very beautiful, tranquil and instantly relaxing as soon as you step into the grounds.
The spa is right on the river so spending an afternoon jumping from pool, hot spa, cold spa, steam room & sauna felt like we were miles away from anywhere. Followed by a massage on the banks of the river also. The spa treatment was actually a little chilly and the use of towels instead of sarongs might improve this.
Breakfast is an extensive buffet overlooking the resort. The dinner we had there was fine but the restaurant sadly was quite empty, lacking in atmosphere. It seems a lot of people eat out or order room service.
Our room had beautiful views over the rainforest which was quite enjoyable from the balcony. The bathroom was the only disappointment and is in need of renovations. No practical elements such as towel hooks, very slippery floors and a old dated pink tiles. Not suitable for anyone unsteady on their feet, in fact would be quite dangerous and would suggest asking for a new room if safety is a concern.
The rest of the room felt as though we'd stepped into ancient Bali. So ornamental and attention to detail with a private balcony.
I found a yoga studio about 10mins walk away, Ubud Yoga House. Very beautiful and meant no taxi required as suggested by hotel.
Staff are all lovely and helpful and assisted with all our enquiries.

We have just come back from our 9th stay at Tjampuhan. We had 2 rooms for 5 nights overlooking the amazing jungle setting.. We always love the traditional Balinese feel of this place and it feels like coming home. Unfortunately we missed seeing Eustace and Agus who have just left but the staff are friendly and attentive. We love the spacious rooms and balcony, home to many a happy hour. Breakfasts here are always a great way to the start the day too. We really enjoyed our stay but in future would like to see wifi in our rooms, not just in reception, and a more flexible shuttle bus service (like the old days). We still highly recommend Tjampuhan - a beautiful place to experience the real Bali.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Slept in one of the lovely new refurbished room (emailed them to request this before arriving). The hotel grounds were stunning. A little out of the main area of ubud. Though only a 15 min walk or the hotel offers a free shuttle every hour. The spa area blew us away. Never seen anything like it. Breakfast was a decent buffet. Loved this area of ubud. A lot more jungle like. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel- staff is mostly willing, but not always efficient or effective. Cleanliness is an issue. The rooms are ok but the bathroom in our villa was- well a little sad... Hygiene could (and should) be improved... Location is excellent and the design of the hotel is beautiful! You should NOT stay here if you are disabled or have difficulty walking and/or stairs.

This hotel has possibly the most incredible setting of anywhere I've stayed, nestled deep in the valleys of Ubud, every part of the hotel feels like a secluded paradise. The room was very comfortable, with outstanding views. The staff were friendly and helpful, if a little disorganised. Each day when they cleaned our rooms they forgot to return clean towels, however, they would arrive within minutes when we called the front desk. However the minor problem with the service was eclipsed by the incredible grounds of the hotel. I'll definately be returning, hopefully soon.
