“A little gem”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

Tucked away on a path in Penestenan is a little gem. The Yellow Flower is a casual little cafe with delicious food. The tofu vegetable stir fry was really fresh and delicious with great value for money. The fruit smoothies are amazing also.

“Amazing nasi goreng!”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

My family and I rented a villa 100 ft from Yellow Flower for 2+ months and ate there at least 3 times a week. The nasi goreng is the BEST IN UBUD! It is healthy, flavorful and has several ingredients that other don't add. We would go back again and again just for that dish! The watermelon and mint smoothie was another favorite. When they have avocados, definitely order the guacamole! Breakfast is nice there too. The location is really funky and fun in Penestanan. If it is crowded, be patient and bring something to read. They don't have a big kitchen so you can wait a long time for your food. If you are staying close by, they are more than happy to bring food to you! They do not accept credit cards so make sure you have enough cash because there is not an ATM nearby.

The drinks here are simply the best in the island. Cheap, organic and not in a tiny little glass like many other places that serve smoothies and juices. I also like the use of cashew milk as a base. What is also really great, is that this cafe is supportive of local farmers and sustainable/organic produce! And all the drinks taste amazing!
The setting of this cafe is really beautiful in greenery. Wish I had come here more often!

“Simply Delightful”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

We had the wonderful Sunday-night buffet here last night, sitting amidst orchid-draped trees with a babbling brook in the background. The meal began with a delicious soup of jackfruit and broad beans and ended with a simple dessert of fried plantain with papaya and watermelon. In between, we sampled 22 Balinese delicacies. Each dish was delicious and the meal included fish (fish on a stick, wrapped in plantain, and fritters, among other things) and a wide variety of vegetarian fishes. The restaurant serves complimentary flower water (easily the best "flavored" water I have ever had) and I ordered a glass of icy lemongrass and ginger juice, which was so good that I'll be making it at home. The service was gracious. All of this for under $8 USD per meal. Incredible…if you're staying in other parts of Ubud, it is easily worth a trip to Penestenan and short stroll down the lovely path (which begins directly across the street from Alchemy). If you're coming for the Sunday buffet, make a reservation to ensure your space.
