It is a nice place. We slept at the more expensive rooms. The room was beautiful, no complains.
BUT , there is no view from the room. when you sit out side the room you can only see the live fence, don't expect any rice fields or pool view...
And the shuttle runs up till 5pm. If you are after dinner in the "city" you have to for taxi about $5 one way... If you stay to eat at the restaurant it's expensive ....
So you can relax by the lovely pool (no shade...) and enjoy the free afternoon tea. Breakfast is very generous ...

This may be the nicest hotel I have ever been at! The rooms, the pool, the location, the rice paddy view, the staff and the restaurant are all off the charts. This is a very special place that I feel lucky to have found.

We stayed at Kenanga for two nights and it was wonderful and peaceful start for our Bali holidays. The hotel is small, friendly, intimate and tranquil surroundings. It is located approx. 10 - 15 min. taxi drive from centre of Ubud. The breakfast was very good as well evening cocktails and snack at the bar (Terracota restaurant). Staff was friendly and helpful. Perfect place for those who like romantic and a little magic atmosphere:)

My husband and I were hoping Kenanga would live up to it's Trip Advisor status and are definitely not disappointed! The staff are friendly but non-invasive and the rooms are gently decorated and clean. We stayed in number 10 which overlooks the rice paddies which is sensational. admit to still feeling slight discomfort at the disparity of us in our lovely environment watching the local families and the back breaking slog of rice harvesting. The restaurant food is delicious and well priced! All in all we will be back for a very relaxing and unique start to our annual Bali migration!

Wow! What can I say. If you read some of my other reviews, I am a tough cookie to please - but this place really is magical. The setting alone is quite breathtaking, and with the rice fields are in a phase of growth, almost ready for harvest, so the sea of green was fabulous. The onsite restaurant was excellent. Breakfast every day was a treat , with personalised service making us feel very special. The staff were attentive, patient and efficient. The breakfast menu is al-a-carte (but included in the room rate) with some great options. It is prepared fresh, is hot and doesn't require you to shuffle a long a conga line leading to a bain marie. Tea and coffee flowed freely and endlessly. The pool area set up is great, the pool nice and deep (1.60cm) and the sun lounges comfortable. The only improvement here would be sun umbrellas which we discussed with the manager (upon asking us for feedback) on departure. There are relatively new and he advised that they are looking for the best option given the gusts of wind that can hit the pool area infrequently. The rooms are well appointed, the shampoo and body wash smell delightful and the aircon works a treat! The only two improvements on the room would be the height of the shower head and block out curtains - otherwise it was a really nice, well sized room. The location is a little out of Ubud proper, but the hotel run a shuttle on the hour from morning to early evening and taxis are about $5 AUD each way if you miss the shuttle. We liked this place so much that we thought it would make the perfect wedding and reception venue for us given the intimacy of the hotel (around 15 rooms) and by the way the place is set up and the ambience. We'll definitely return again in February.

Room Tip: Have a sunset drink on the lounges at the restaurant. Pure magic!

I booked 2 rooms from the net via photos and crossed my fingers that Kenanga would be all that was promised... Myself and my 3 family members arrived after being in seminyak for a week and in need of some trees and peace...while Kenanga was initially hard for my driver to find we finally found the driveway after I panicked when I saw the Main Street nearby and the old buildings but... When we saw Kenanga at the end of the driveway we were so relieved and very pleased. The hotel is amazing! It's like a tropical forest paradise hidden away over looking an incredible rice paddy field. Our rooms were lovely the decor earthy and modern with a contemporary Balinese edge. The beds so comfy, sheets high quality and the bathrooms tip notch ...hot water, lovely stone and slate floor so perfect away from the heat of Ubud. The verandas are huge with large comfy day beds perfect for lazing around and reading, ordering room service and looking out on the rice fields. The pool is perfect. It's position in the heart of the hotel is excellent and the magic edge makes you feel like your swimming at the edge of the world. It's so serene. There are deck chairs and the staff are on hand for drinks, snacks and towels. And are also discreet. The restaurant is open air and tropical overlooking the rice paddies, next to the pool and the food was brilliant. We had great breakfasts (included) and the staff were so great. We also had dinner there which was delicious and the couple in our group had the romantic dinner out on the rice paddy in the small hut surrounded by lamps which was the highlight for them. Nighttime the place was so in beautiful with the lanterns and the lovely buildings and decor. Magical !! Great for honeymooners as there were lots of little huts and spaces to be alone and watch the stars. The place is perfectly clean, we did not see any mess its all new and well kept. The staff assisted us at every turn and provided all we needed. We couldn't fault Kenanga its just soooooo pretty and so luxurious as well as tropical and Balinese..so if you want the whole magical ubud tropical paradise with clean modern accommodation stay here. Five minutes to the heart of ubud by the shuttle but we loved staying at the hotel. My family did not want to leave Kenanga .

Room Tip: Get one overlooking the rice paddies! All rooms we had aircon and the verandas upstairs have great v...

In early September, my sister and I went to Ubud for a 4-night stay at the Kenanga and had a great stay there. The hotel was lovely, the staff friendly and helpful. Also, not to be missed was the incredible massage. The location of the spa, jutting out into the rice field, with the open-air feel was marvelous. It was the best massage that I've ever had, not only from the quality of the massage itself, but the fragrant oils that you got to choose and the setting made it incomparable. We both enjoyed it so much that we ended up fitting in a second massage during our stay. The restaurant was wonderful, too - food good and service good. The Kenanga is a little bit outside of the main street, but we wanted the quiet and peacefulness that it offered. All in all - a 10 in my book.
