we stayed 6 nights in a bungalow at the kenanga hotel. the rice field view behind the hotel was amazing. not directly in the centre of ubud but the perfect place to stay from the mainstream tourist places! the staff was really friendly and helpful!

we also made a trekking walk through the rice fields organized by the hotel which was amazing!

we will definitely come back!

My family stayed a week, in two rooms, at this beautiful hotel in July. It was not our first visit to Ubud and had previously stayed closer to the centre. This hotel is perfectly placed to enjoy the sights and sounds of Ubud without the crowds. The hotel opens onto beautiful rice paddies. It is possible to walk from the hotel to Ubud following the rice paddies. It's probably a 40 minute walk this way, but well worth it for the scenery and the sights of every day life. (And when you arrive in Penestenan there is gorgeous juice bar " In fact, take any road off the main one and you will be amongst local life ... this is one of the hotel's main attractions in my opinion. The centre of Ubud is a short drive away. You can take the hourly shuttle bus, or a cab (not at all expensive). There is a Bintang supermarket between the hotel and Ubud centre. The staff are lovely. Very professional. Warm and welcoming. Breakfast was complimentary and plentiful. The rooms were beautifully appointed and (ground floor) opened directly onto the padi fields. Could have spent my week just sitting on the verandah watching life go by. But I didn't. We went on tours, wandered Ubud, walked the walks radiating from Ubud, ate well, shopped, got caught up in temple ceremonies and always had the wonderful pleasure of returning to Kenanga and our beautiful room at the end of each day. Will return.

Absolutely love the dining place which overlooks the green rice fields! It is so beautiful and serene. Dinner was unexpected good (ordered soft shell crab soup, spring roll and beef teriyaki), and breakfast is nice too. Room was comfortable, light and airy. Definitely worth a try.

This is a very nice small hotel right outside of Ubud, to spend some peaceful nights. I never knew if we were the only ones in the hotel (pretty cool for me) or guests are so peaceful you almost don't see them. Food is ok, but you always have to take a taxi to get out, unless you want to walk 20 minutes to Ubud. The hotel has a spa mood. Prices for the spa are very decent, expensive for Indonesia, not so much for Bali, I have to say the spa is open space, right behind the hotel, where 'almost' no one can see you. Not good for socializing or partying

Great bungalows with a beautiful infinity pool and restaurant/bar looking out on the paddy fields. We absolutely loved staying here, it's about 5 mins drive to the centre of Obud but we thought it was worth it for the peace and quiet. They have free shuttles going into the town and one evening we organised a taxi.
Would def recommend staying here, we had a wonderful relaxing few days.

My girlfriend booked this place for 2 nights in July, 2012. The hotel had literally just been opened and everything was new and clean. We could not believe our luck. The rooms are big and so are the bathrooms. We had a Kananga Room which was left of the pool as you look out over the rice field. Staff and food were great. It is a 10 minute taxi out of town but that is just something to be aware of. I would stay there again without hesitation! Very relaxing. We didn't want to leave.

Kenanga hotel has just few villas (big rooms with terrace) and rooms. We stayed in a villa room which looks fairly like the pictures on the website. It is very big, like 40m2, plus a huge beautiful bathroom with bathtube and shower and 2 sinks behind a white curtain. Not much furniture but well arranged. The only negative aspect is that there is no view at all, and not much day light in the room but you can have a certain privacy thanks to the trees. The pool is beautiful and the view is just unique over the rice fields. The restaurant next to the pool offers good quality Indonesian and Italian cuisine. the breakfast is generous and with a lot of choice between bread basket, different eggs, rice or noodles, yogurt with muesli, fruits, etc.
The spa is simple very charming as it is totallu open over the ricefields, you get a massage with view! Regarding the location, it is not in the busy and hectic Ubud center, but just 10 minutes away by motorbike. Ubud gets busy, noisy with a lot of traffic jam and tourists, this is a good option to relax.
