Luwak is the place to be if you're looking for a bit of tranquility - which surely is the case for most people who venue beyond the glitz of the more popular beaches. The facilities were excellent - large kitchens, spacious rooms, good equipment - all of which were very well maintained. I like the feeling of privacy mixed with a sense of openness which is build into the very architecture of the place. Initially I was a little apprehensive about the place because it seemed quite out of the way e.g. to get to the Ubud market, one would likely have to walk about 30 minutes. Luckily, the staff were very accommodating, readily providing transport all around Ubud. The staff were exceptionally friendly, which made the stay all the more pleasant. Not only friendly, but really efficient too - there were a number of occasions I was honestly quite surprised how much initiative they took to make sure their customer's needs were met e.g. printing out maps, information on places I wanted to visit.

We stayed in 3 bedroom villa. We stayed another villa in Ubud and then we came to Luwak Ubud. The other villa was in more quiet location, however Luwak is closer to center of Ubud which was great for us. Villa is absoutely wonderful. Everything is quite new, clean and high standard. Stunning bathroom, bathtop on the top of fish pond was absolutely beautiful. Outdoor shower makes me little nit cold at night but i liked it still because of the atmosphere. Bedroom always keep clean, swimming pool was a bit small but was big enough for my children. I will definately come back to thus villa. I loved every bit of Luwak Ubud. We stayed here for 3 nights, after 3 nights we didn't want to go back, i could live here for months.
Ubud was cooler than I expected, you need long sleeve for sure. Breakfast was just ok. Nasi goreng and nasi lemak was good, but american breakfast was below expectation. Toast was cold and omelet wasn't soft enough. Restaurant food was value for money. I recommend asian dish rather than western. They are always good with asian dishes. All staffs were very freindly and helpful. Driver was always willing to drop us to town (5 min drive) we went to the town almost everyday for shopping and eating. Ubud central is always packed with bikes and cars, we need to wait for long time for the driver to pick us up from Ubud central. It was not their fault, it is because of bad traffic. I would recommend to take taxi to back to villa as it only costs you 20000-25000rp (2-2.5usd).
My children and husband didn't want to go back. It feels like own home with friendly staffs. We will definately come back for next visit.

Room Tip: We stayed villa 1 which is the first villa on the row. It was very quiwt and private. Howev i think...

Overall the villas are quite sensational - almost faultless. We were lucky enough to stay in the 3 bedroom villa which is huge. Very nice private pool and gardens. The staff could not be more helpful. However, some fine tuning still necessary, perhaps because it is still quite new. The large kitchen and diner is excellent but needs cutlery and crockery.

The location is good if you want to be a little bit out of town but is a little too far to walk to the centre of Ubud. The staff are great in that they will drop you in town pretty much when you want.

The food at the restaurant is basic but generally good including the breakfast.

Overall, excellent stay but some minor improvements could make this a five out of five.

This place grows on you! Luwak Ubud Villas is not just somewhere you come to stay, but a place you come to live while you're in Bali. It's a residential villa of the highest standard, and somewhere you're truly able to call home during your stay. You're given the spacious comfort of a home, but also the service of a quality hotel from a lovely staff that is constantly willing to help and make your stay more enjoyable. Villas are a generous size designed to accomodate families and groups, but can also be used as suites with great privacy. I can see why many people request extensions for their trips here, and there were also multiple returning guest I met while I was here - and it's only been open for 6 months! The longer you stay at Luwak Ubud Villas, the harder it is to leave.

We stayed at Luwak in June 2012. I stayed with my husband for three nights here (before going to seminyak). We loved it here. It was so relaxing and peaceful. We had a two bedroom villa and it was very private and spacious. The two bedrooms are detached buildings. The bathrooms were semi-outdoors, which is common for Bali. The interiors were very pleasantly designed with a modern yet warm feeling.

The edge pool overlooks a huge gorge with lots of luscious green plants. Very tropical. There was a balcony deck area with a huge bean bag. And two tanning lounges.

It's located in a quiet street about 15 minutes walk from the main section of Ubud. It's very quiet. The staff were very happy to drive you around for no charge. We gave our driver a $10 tip which was more than enough.

We had massages in our villa which were excellent.

There were however a few small issues.
Our airport transer driver was late. We were left wondering if he was ever going to show. Luckily we only waited 15 minutes. But the car didn't have any water or refreshments which made the 90 minute drive horrible. When we arrived, the manager tried to get us to share a larger villa with other strangers. They tried to sell it as an upgrade which was clerarly bulldust. Luckily my husband put his foot down and refused.
The bathroom got a bit smelly but it's outdoors so you don't notice too much. That's the reality of poor countries - maybe not their fault. The shower was poorly designed and water got all over the floor. There was limited hot water. But it was so hot outside, it wasnt a huge problem. The shampoos etc were of a low quality and weren't consistent with this otherwise very high quality boutique hotel. The air con remote went missing so we were stuck with an icy cold room. But fine with an extra blanket. Don't order poached eggs here or anywhere Bali. They were cold, very overlooked and tasted of vinegar. Cold white toast. Stick with what they know and have nasi gorang for breakfast. It was delicious.

The staff were very lovely. We would love to come back here.

I stayed here for over 25 days and had the most wonderful time there - the staff became to feel like my friends. From the moment I dropped past to enquire about staying there I got a great feeling from the place - and just knew I had to stay there. I loved Luwak - from the decor of the villas, the service of the staff - nothing was too much trouble and way always done with your beautiful balinese smile, grace and character. The decor of the villas and cleanliness were fantastic - a piece of paradise in Ubud. All the staff working there were lovely - even bringing me my own little personal water cooler to keep hydrated with all the Yoga I was doing.
It is just a 5 minute scooter ride from the main street of Ubud - close enough to the action but far enough away to be peaceful and quiet. It was a good sign that most people that stay there have extended their stay there - they must be doing something right! I will look back at my time at Luwak with very fond memories, and even shed a tear upon my departure.
