We’ve just returned from our first trip to Bali, where we booked a cycling day trip with Bali Moon Tours, we had read about them in an article in the West Australian and we would highly recommend them to any traveller visiting Bali and wishing to see a bit more. Our knowledgeable guide Wayan really gave us an insight into ‘life’ in the Bali interior on what was a very personal cultural tour, with my husband & I being the only people on the day trip.
We were collected at our hotel and taken on a marvellous tour that took in a coffee plantation, a wonderful lunch at Penelokan with breathtaking views of Mount Batur and the crater lake. We then headed off with our guide Wayan for a 40k cycle tour (approx.) that took us through 6 villages on very quiet roads towards Ubud, free of the hustle bustle traffic that we’d experienced in Legian & Seminyak. As we travelled through the villages we stopped at temples, rice paddies & terraces with Wayan giving us lots of fascinating information on Bali village life, culture & beliefs. We were greeted by the villagers and their children who all shouted ‘hello’ and gave us a wave as we passed by. Our day ended with a lovely Balinese meal and we were then taken back to our hotel, tired but exhilarated by our very spiritual adventure. Thank you to Angung, Wayan, our driver and all involved in making this an extremely enjoyable and memorable trip.
