Description: Step into the cozy dining room of Scappanapoli, and you immediately feel at ease, as the walls are painted in warm tones, comfy cushions adorn the chairs, and magazines and newspapers rest on nearly every table. Grab a seat at one of the wooden tables under black and white photographs of famous Italian actors, and peruse the extensive menu, which features traditional Italian dishes that you won’t find in other run-of-the-mill Italian places in Ubud. Got questions? Not to fear—Napoli-born owner Piero and his wife Enung are always on hand to assist or simply engage you in warm and welcoming conversation. The food at Scappanapoli has its roots in Southern Italian cuisine, so the menu features plenty of handmade pastas, wood-fired pizzas and vibrant dishes with fresh seafood, herbs and vegetables. Start your meal with the light Insalata di Polpo for tender chunks of octopus marinated in olive oil, lemon, parsley and garlic, or sample the Crocchete di Patate, which are crispy and golde

My husband & I were a bit hesitant to eat Italian in Ubud, but I was pleasantly surprised! We shared the Bruchetta with parmigiana melanzane. Good. I had the Gnocchi a'la Sorrentina. It was very satisfying. I could taste that it was handmade as it was very springy and not floury like store bought varieties. My husband had the Pizza a'la Spaccanapoli. He would have ordered extra cheese in retrospect, as we are accustomed to lots of cheese in South Africa, but the base and ingredients were fresh and moreish. I had a bite and really rated it! But if you love cheese, ask for extra (Rp.12,000). Nice Italian music played and the setting is simple but homy and comfortable. I would eat here again if we were staying longer!

Friendly staff, falling over themselves to help you but when I saw the pizza being prepared next to a chain smoking customer I was thankful we already had our meals. The pizza prep zone is in the eating section of the restaurant and without a Non Smoking Policy I couldn't get past how unsatisfactory that was.

We had pizzas which tasted fine, although toppings were a bit stingy.

When I saw the name Spaccanapoli I knew just a real Napoletano could give this name to a restaurant, we had rocket salad, Bruschetta, spaghetti aglio olio e peperoncino, friarielli delicious! Just like in Naples you can get! But then the pizza.... disappointing.
The staff was friendly but thry didn't speak english good enough to understand what we were asking for and mess up everything, we endup eating something different of that we wanted and paying so far the most expensive meal since we arrived in Bali.
Sorry Salvatore but you weren't there to look after your restaurant.
Pd: non fatti i pidocchiosi col formaggio.

I don't want to discredit this eatery and say don't go there .....BUT this is the first time in 4 years of travelling toUbud that I have not been able to eat a meal. The basil gnocchi I ordered was like a bullet and way too salty to boot.Yet my sisters pumpkin ravioli was delicious. I left hungry, she left satisfied ... The rest I will leave up to other pundits.

We ate here 3 times during our stay in Ubud because the food was so good. Great variety of good food on the menu and Italian wine to go with it. Highly recommend the spinach and ricotta ravioli and the pizza. Staff very friendly and happy to chat with us.
