“we love to stay there again and again.”
Reviewed 12 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

The location of villa damee is great,in a village and surrounding by rice fields. The rooster wake us up every morning but not alarm.as we are from the city,we totally love this village. The staffs are all good, very friendly, very helpful. Also the foods is so yummy and the price is so cheap.Thank you Stephanie and your staffs but one thing we were a little disappointed is : no little girl's welcome dance like what other reviews said, maybe it was because of nyepi we believe.

Glad you enjoyed the villa and rural life unfolding around you. The Balinese girls dance when they are available and they were committed with temple ceremonies around Nyepi, so sorry about that, but we will treat you to this next time you visit, for sure.

“Absolutely fabulous”
Reviewed 25 March 2014 for a stay in March 2014

"Just about the best introduction to the best of Ubud.
The staff are one of the great strengths of this superbly placed villa. It is part of the surrounding village and one quickly feels attached to the daily rhythms of village life.
Don't expect loud noises or a party scene, just the croaking of frogs, the occasional chant from the temple or the far off sounds of gamelan.
Thoroughly recommended"

Thank you for the lovely feedback.

Wayan and the team offer fantastic personal service. I am glad you got to do so much during your time in Bali, especially the local stuff in the village. Memories to keep forever.

Its a beautiful place and I am happy you got so much out of your holiday in Ubud staying with us at Villa Damee.

Thank you for your lovely review. Thank you for the feedback on the glass door into the bathroom. We have ordered a blind and it will be installed next week. Excellent suggestion. Now you are back home, you may have a few laughs over the gecko that visited the girls room. Nyoman was the brave forest warrior and removed - bravo. Nature really is all around you at the villa and sometimes hops over the fence! We also value your feedback on the 3 rd bathroom. The villa does have 3 showers and 3 toilets, but the upstairs room does not have en-suite and we are now investigating to install a 4th shower/en-suite. Thank you for your suggestion. We are always seeking to improve our guests stay. Good idea about the camera warning too. The Balinese dance is mesmirising. The girls are excellent dancers. I will let Wayan know to tell our next guests - go get your "good" camera . The beauty of this performance, in your private villa, your private space allows for good shots indeed. We are so happy to offer this when we can. The girls are in school, so can only dance for our villa guests, when the time allows. It is our little surprise. Glad you liked it.

We will see you next time you are in Bali.

“Lovely Villa with charming staff”
Reviewed 20 February 2014 for a stay in February 2014

We arrived at 8pm in Bali's new airport, where getting through Immigration was fairly quick and easy despite the long queues of people at the VOA counters and passport counters. Airport transfers are included in the rental, and it was lovely to be met and taken to Villa Damee.
It was rather late by the time we get to the Villa but Wayan, the manager and Nyoman, the night guard were waiting to welcome us. Our meals were waiting as we had already pre-ordered due to the lateness of the hour. After dinner, we were shown to our rooms. The rooms at the ground floor are very spacious and well furnished. The 3rd bedroom on the upper level has views over the paddy fields but strangely no bathroom. The only access to a bathroom was via one of the downstairs bedrooms, or at the other side of the pool near the kitchen. As we were traveling with extended family, this was a disadvantage for us . The ensuite in the master bedroom although lovely is actually outdoors in a small private garden. The girls instantlly decided that this wasn't for them and rushed to the more conventional room. I must say that sitting on the throne staring out at the stars takes a bit of getting used to but it is not overlooked and is sheltered from the morning sun by some trees. It could do with a blind over the bathroom door, with young kids and teenagers around and the sliding doors not a hindrance since you can slide it either way to open even if locked!
The pool is a plus and great after a day of sight seeing! As we were late arriving, the normal Balinese welcome dance was postponed to another more suitable time. I wish I'd known how good the performance was going to be as I would have been better prepared to take some decent photos. The girls had put in a lot of effort to get into their costumes and it was a really an excellent performance.
The staff headed by Wayan were helpful and charming and kept the villa lovely and clean. Not used to country living, our girls had a fright to find a big gecko in their bedroom one night! But Nyoman came to the rescue! The included breakfast is basic toast and coffee. But you can order extras like eggs or mee goreng or even french fries for breakfast!
A bit off the beaten path in a traditional Balinese village but only 10 minutes or so by car into Ubud town. We enjoyed our nightly drive to Ubud for dinner with Hassan. He is a very careful driver. We also like the services of Dana and his team, especially Putu and Made.

We love Ubud and would come again.

So glad you enjoyed the surprise Balinese dance performance at the villa. It is very special. The girls are very good dancers and love performing. Your late night arrival was not a problem at all. Nyoman is happy to serve dinner at 10pm, midnight or anytime. The 24 hr service we offer at the villa caters for this. Some guests even arrive after midnight. Our staff were happy to wait up. There are 3 bathrooms and 3 toilets at the villa, but I am sorry about the issue of no en-suite in the 3rd bedroom. We are addressing this issue now. Thanks for your suggestion about a cover for the glass entrance to the bathroom door. We have ordered a blind. Thanks for this feedback. Happy you enjoyed the service of Wayan and team- and the high standards of cleaning we uphold at the villa. Our Balinese staff are very well trained and so gracious in their service to you, the guest. The gecko in the bedroom and Nyoman coming to the rescue will make for a good laugh now you are home. There is definately nature around the villa and you certainly got to meet it at very close range. Happy you enjoyed the car and driver services and we really look forward to welcoming you back.

“Highly Recommended Villa”
Reviewed 25 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

We just got back from Bali, staying our last week at Villa Damee. The villa is more beautiful than the pictures suggest, and the staff are without doubt the shining star. They are always there when you need them, keep the villa meticulously clean, yet completely unobtrusive.
Wayan (Manager) could not have been more kind, helpful and accommodating, she took us the local village healer and translated the entire reading/offering ceremony for each of us, took us to the village school and then back to her house to show us how the locals live. Wayan is a great point of contact and we are so happy to have met her.
Nyoman looked after us each night, he makes a mean cocktail (served poolside, with a big smile) and his Balinese cooking was the best (so good in fact, we pretty much decided to stay in most nights after our first mouthful).
Made/Wayan (man) looked after us in the mornings, serving breakfast/coffee, cleaning the bedrooms/bathrooms, helping to organise drivers and anything else we required.
Kadek does an amazing job on the lush gardens and he took us on the river walk which was hard work for us lazy city dwellers (but totally worth every sweaty heart pounding second).
The villa bedrooms/bathrooms are large, with massive wardrobes and clean linen.
The pool is a great size, perfect start, finish (and everything in between) to the day, getting out was the only chore.
Upstairs, on the yoga platform, the hammocks are a great addition and it became our favorite chill out zone, the shade, the breeze, the view. We spent hours there, reading, napping, chatting...... wish I was back there now!
Stephanie's correspondence was quick, thorough and helpful from start to finish, the villa was easy to book, and Stephanie stayed in contact in the lead up to our stay, organising pick up from our prior villa in Seminyak.
Overall, Villa Damee is more rural than we were expecting, but with all the comforts you could want away from the hustle and bustle of the cities we quickly adjusted, it is only a short 10-20 minute drive from the centre of Ubud, the staff are amazing and it is the perfect place to relax, unwind with nature and beauty all around.

Thank you for your kind words and I am so glad you got to experience life in the village, including a visit to Wayans home and the healer. Very special indeed and a real Balinese experience. I agree, it is hard to leave the villa, when the cook is so good!! Hope to see you back next holidays.
