“Superb resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2013

I spent only a night here for our honeymoon, and was blown away, really. I love the room and its perfect interiors. The bed was very comfortable, we had a good quality sleep. Even the breakfast was delicious! They also got very lovely and helpful staffs. I certainly would spend another night here in the future, highly recommended :)

Dear RinellaPutri,
Thank you for visiting Alaya Resort Ubud and taking the time to share your experience on Tripadvisor.
We are happy that you described your staying experience with us as a superb resort. Our unique interiors was designed with Bali’s artistic nuance in mind, set amidst the beautiful lush paddy fields of which Ubud is so popular. Glad you enjoyed our the Petani breakfast, as we truly make all effort to make the breakfast an icon of our small boutique resort.
Again, we appreciate your comment and definitely looking forward to welcoming you back to Alaya Ubud.

Best regards,

This hotel is stunning, the room was spacious and an amazing design, the bed was soooooo comfy. I loved the balcony with the fan, felt like my own alfresco area and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
The location was perfect, close to everything. Our group visited a few other resorts/hotels around Ubud before we were to decide which one but Alaya was stand out to all the rest and we instantly fell in love with it.
I will definately be staying here again and highly recommend it to all.

Room Tip: Definately go with a room with a balcony, the view is really pretty and its so peaceful sitting/lyin...

Will love to keep the awesomeness of this place to myself but I'm just doing a review of all the places I visited in Bali.

In short, I loved the room, the setting which blended in very well with what Ubud has got to offer and the location. Will very likely stay here again unless I'm thinking of really splurging on a grand hideaway/retreat the next time I go back to Ubud,

A few points for improvement (so that I would continue to have awesome visits at Alaya in the future)

1. Food wise, I think the american/continental cuisines were good (based on breakfast standards) but the indonesian/asian cuisines were not as good as others I have eaten subsequently around ubud and seminyak. I'm talking about food like Nasi goreng, beef kway teow soup etc. Presentation of the food was excellent, but I really think improvements can be made taste wise on the Indonesia and Asian cuisines. We need great food to complement the setting.

2. Comprehensive MAP of UBUD - Was a little surprised that the hotel did not have a comprehensive map of the Ubud area (referring to a map that has all the streets labelled). I ended up with a map which was a VERY rough sketch of the Ubud area (just the location of the hotel and maybe a few other places) on my first day which didn't really go as smoothly as I planned. Example, I wanted to go to Sari Organik but it was impossible to locate the place on that rough map given to me so yes, will be great if hotel stocked up some good maps of Ubud for hotel guests.

Other than that, it's awesome. Can't think of any other faults. :)

We booked the Alaya on the internet after reading reviews on trip advisor. lovely hotel centrally located in Ubud just next door to the Cocco supermarket. The room was spacious and beautifully appointed did appreciate the internal and external fans. Lovely to sit on the balcony with the fan on and look over the rice field. However had an issue with the air-conditioning that did not work, it was cooler outside than in. explained to staff the next morning after an uncomfortable night to please look at the air conditioner. on return to our hotel room late in the day the air conditioner still did not work. I rang and after a while it was explained it was not fixable and transferred to another room. the 2nd room had issues with the door not closing well but was a new room that had not been used before so expect a few issues. The pool recently completed and while not to the standard of some hotels in indonesia was pleasant. Afternoon tea and breakfast were really enjoyable.

We booked Alaya from Jan 2013 and we are aware that it just opened sometimes in Dec 2012 based on the website info. During that time we do not know wether we make the right decision since no reviews were available. And we are very glad we had a wonderful experience from the room itself, the friendly service and the good food they serve. Their nasi bali is recommended. They also have an excellent afternoon tea which are delightful. The room itself is very new, modern and spacious. Very big and comfortable mattress and their bath amenities smells nice. We will definitly go back.

Room Tip: We stay at ground floor and slightly below the paddy field though it is still good. I guess higher f...

The Alaya is in a great position on the main street of Hanoman in Ubud, it is walking distance to monkey forest road and close to shopping facilities and surrounding cafes and resturants. The staff were impeccable with their service, professionalism and flexibility. We would like to especially thank Mayun who took his own time have our electronic equipment repaired. Trisna and Ayu for very efficient front desk service including helping us arrange international travel. Indra for helping us get around Ubud and for his friendly local advice and Wiadnyana for smooth airport transport. All our resturant needs were met with understanding and ease by Gunawan.....he is always smiling and a pleasure to be greeted by. The rooms were always serviced and any request that we had was never a problem. All staff made us feel like Alaya really was our home base in our travels. Many thanks and we will definetly see you again when we next stay in Bali. Jason and Rose room 218.

We got really lucky with Alaya, having booked it on Agoda. The price was reasonable, and we wanted somewhere relaxing, and yet close to Monkey Forest Road. Initially I was a little apprehensive because it's a new resort, having only opened some months ago. But I needn't have worried.

Check in was a breeze by the friendly staff, and our rooms were big and very comfortable. We'd also had bad experiences with the air conditioning in our hotels in Seminyak and before that, Jakarta, so it was nice the air con here worked perfectly, AND there was a ceiling fan as well.
The room decor is beautiful- a little rustic, but very tasteful. The toiletries smelled amazing, and the forest mural/wallpaper? near the shower made you feel as if you were standing under a waterfall.

The views are amazing. Who would have thought you could get terrace views right in the middle of ubud, and so close to Monkey Forest road.

Breakfast: it's not buffet, but the ala carte menu is extensive, and will fill you up nicely. Everything from the eggs to bacon was made to perfection, and I loved the way the yummy yoghurt was presented in a claspy little jar. Love such attention to detail.
Also, best coffee I've had in Bali.

The only negative experience was with the water- the hot water was not working properly. We had to shower with lukewarm (and sometimes cold) water throughout our stay.

All in all, an amazing stay, and we'll definitely be back!
