We were pleasantly blown away by the spacious bed and the view outside our room. I was also enticed by the design of the bathtub and had a good evening soaking in the water. I've to say the mattress is firm and comfortable unlike many hotel rooms we had been to previously, and we ended up buying their complimentary body lotion and shower foam products as these smell so good!

A special thanks to Barista Oka who was our guide for the coffee brewing class. There ware notes neatly prepared and presented to us on the table when we arrived for the class, complete with a pen and notepad. How thoughtful! i would also like to thank the front desk including Artini and driver, Indra, who managed to defuse a tense moment during this trip when we found out that the half/full day tours offered by the hotel only came with the driver but not a fully qualified tour guide. In the end, we managed to take a ride in the comfortable hotel transport at a taxi rate. The quick remedy taken by the front desk salvaged this trip (which was meant to celebrate my birthday) for me or this unhappy incident would be a main blot on my memory. I'll definitely be back to this resort again!

From the moment I arrived at Alaya, I was greeted by the most heartwarming welcome I've ever received, along with some delicious welcome drink, and was left feeling as if I was staying in the most friendly home stay with the luxury of a 5 star hotel!

And what luxury it was, the room was not only huge, but also beautifully and lovingly decorated, the interior design was simply perfection into the very last detail, especially the huge spa-like-bath tub, with the beautiful rain-forest wall paintings!

Apart from the friendly service and beautiful rooms, the location was perfect, it was both central (Jalan Hanoman/Monkey Forest Road) AND quiet, which is surprising, because when you enter the lobby, it seems really noisy, but since the hotel stretches its length into the rice paddies, it's quite serene at night, with insects chirping and all that.

Lastly, I just wanted to mention that I had the luck of staying right when the 1-year-balinese birthday of the hotel was taking place, and the entire staff celebrated it with a traditional balinese ceremony, and they actually invited me to join them, which was probably one of the most memorable experiences I had during my time in Bali. By the end, I felt like everyone at the hotel were both my friends and family!

So needless to say, ALAYA now has a very special place in my heart, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Ubud!

Room Tip: Try to choose one further inside and on the side where the rice paddies are.

My Wife likes to joke that I am high maintenance, when it comes to holiday accommodation.
Of course, she is right!
But on a serious note, I have not a single complaint about this resort, the staff, the food the rooms ALL excellent and I am totally happy to recommend the Alaya in Ubud.

Picked Alaya based solely on TripAdvisor reviews and it lived up to the hype. Stayed for 7 nights in Feb 2014 and it would be difficult to find fault. Spacious well appointed rooms, great views across the rice paddies, staff who couldn't do enough for you. Will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Had a room in the rear block on the first floor - would recommend the same again.

Stayed at Alaya for 4 days in Feb 2014 and it was one of the best part of my trip to Bali. If you are on a honeymoon and want to enjoy luxury - this is a great place to be.The hotel is a bit pricey but the views, the comfort of the rooms, the sheer warmth and hospitality of each and every employee makes it worthwhile.

Location:
Located almost in the center of the town (if you can call it that). There are nice restaurants around and the shop right opposite offers bikes on rent. Monkey forest is a 1 minute bike ride while the zoo is 15 minute drive

Room:
We stayed in their "Alaya" rooms on the 3rd floor. All their rooms offer a great view of rice paddies.

Washroom:
Only these rooms offer large round bath-tubs made in a very natural way. Even the shampoos, hand wash etc. offered are very Balinese and very much natural. Only a curtain separates bathroom from the rest of the room

Other services:
They offer complimentary evening tea from 3-5pm but we dint use the service on any of the days. Pool is nice and there is a spa right next to the pool

Cons: Nothing much here, probably something very specific to my needs
- the hotel does not have (m)any options for vegetarians
- most resorts in Bali have a game area/some sort of entertainment services but Alaya doesn't. It will be a great addition if they had TT/pool tables etc. or entertainment shows in the evenings as most resorts do
- The services like tours, bikes on rent should be cheaper, especially considering that all shops around offer the same

Overall: The staff know what they are doing and will treat you with great respect, typical Balinese warmth and make your trip wonderful. Highly recommended

Room Tip: Alaya rooms on 3rd floor are stunning for the bath-tub they have. All rooms have rice paddy view. 3r...

I stayed here for 2 nights in Feb 2014 and was blown away by the excellent service the moment I checked into this resort!

My wife and I stayed in several hotels and resorts and Alaya Ubud had the best service we experienced. The rooms are of a good size but with only a curtain separating the bathroom and the bedroom, it might be a bit of an inconvenience. However, my wife absolutely loves the bathtub.

The location is good and is 3 mins away from the famous Bebek Bengil (dirty duck) restaurant and 5 mins away from the Monkey forest.

They deliver breakfast to our rooms where we can enjoy breakfast while enjoying the view of the rice paddy field. They don't even charge for a 3rd set of breakfast even though there are only 2 of us. The complimentary afternoon tea is also much appreciated.

Swimming pool is a bit small but there is also a nice and quiet reading area near the spa amidst all the lush greenery.

Overall, I would highly recommend Alaya Ubud resort to my friends. Thanks to the staff of Alaya resort for making this a memorable stay!

We have just come back from a 4 night stay here and I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are going to Ubud.

The hotel is gorgeous with lovely spacious rooms. Little extras such as home made shampoo/conditioner, body lotion add a great touch.

It is in a great location overlooking the neighbouring rice fields, set on a quieter road than the main strip but only a short walk from all the attractions. The Monkey Forest is literally around the corner and only a 10 minute walk from the main road in Ubud which hosts the Palace and temples, along with many bars and restaurants.

The service is excellent with very helpful and friendly staff. Great breakfast and afternoon tea included.

A very peaceful and relaxing base for a trip to Ubud. We loved it here and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: The hotel is only small so there are not that many rooms - all rooms face the same way though so the...
