“A relaxing holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2013

I recently stayed in a Deluxe Room overlooking the pool and rice fields. Pool was great and the resort, set in the rice fields, was very spacious and quite. A great place to stay and I would definitely stay there again. If you stay in the hotel, make sure you book the deluxe rooms overlooking the pool. All the staff were smiling and eager to greet you. The room was good and the balcony also good. Whilst I was there they installed a shower curtain in the bathroom, but still no towel rack or toilet roll holder.
Breakfast was a fixed menu of American, Indonesian or Continental - and the staff would not deviate from the stated items. I am sure it would not hurt the hotel if the staff allowed you to have a piece of toast with your Indonesian breakfast - but No! The staff in the restaurant need training in removing empty plates - all plates were left on the table until you exited the restaurant. The restaurant was not busy - the staff did not seem to understand that quality service means that once you complete a course the plates should be removed.
Despite my minor negative comments, I would still highly recommend the Agung Raka Resort and bungalows.

Room Tip: The Villas looked interesting but more expensive. Deluxe room overlooking the pool - great!

Stayed in a bungalow, room 103, and am still puzzled by its set up. There's villas, and a new building with hotel rooms. My bungalow had an upstairs bedroom with a/c - mind the steep stairs - and the bathroom and a lazy room was downstairs. Both 'open air', but with blinds if you needed. The bathroom was a grey, dark room, which was a pity as it's really cool to have a shower and watch the stars above you.
Woke up at 5 AM due to the sounds of all animals in the area. They keep quiet after some time, no worries. But made me feel in the middle of the jungle, loved it. Also the premises with rice fields, the new pool and restaurant were more than fine. Breakfast isn't a very big buffet, but pleas do try their capuccino, loved this excellent cup of coffee! (extra charges)
When you want to get of the beaten track, stay here. There's a shuttle to Ubud centre, tho you can walk if you like. Monkey Forest is not that far as well. When in Ubud, go to the museum, especially when you are there in the wet. (in January I hided there against the rain ;)
Staff: some do their best. Internet codes weren't correct, it took me to the next day to get one member of the staff to tell me the right codes. Anyway, this is Bali!

Room Tip: Like I said, the bungalows have steep stairs, but are a good value for money. My a/c was working fin...

We chose this hotel because it was the best priced and available at a very busy time. We arrived to a luke warm reception, no electricity, no internet (which the reception staff couldn't care less about) and dirty sheets on our bed that had to be changed. Breakfast the next morning was a let down as they were out of everything in their beautiful new setting and we had to wait as everything, one by one was ferried down from the top kitchen.

This is a bungalow style hotel in a beautiful setting and the rooms are large with great balconies, very private, and in a good location in Ubud, just not good value for money I feel and they really need to look at their staff service, attitudes and hotel pricing.

This is my third time staying in Agung Raka. A nice bungalow all to yourself. The staff is ever so friendly and they can still remember me when I check in. This place is for people who prefer to be surrounded by nature.

The property is beautiful. Accommodation is in the form of Balinese Bungalows facing rice fields. A 2-level bungalow all to yourself. The staff is very helpful. The location is very good. A couple of convenience stores are just across the road. There is an Indian restaurant around 10 mins down the road. Monkey forest, which is one of the attractions is also a short walk from the resort. The resort provided up with complimentary pickup and drop in the town. That was really helpful.

The toilets in the bungalows are at the ground level with the bedroom being on the upper level. The narrow stairs made it a bit uncomfortable for the aged in our group. We had a problem with mosquitoes. The AC in one of the rooms was not up to mark. But the housekeeping guys arranged for a fan which made it bearable.

Food was ok.

We planned on 3 nights and stayed 7. Why move when you have all you need and more and the people make you so welcome and are just so nice.
We found this establishment to be very good value, there was construction going on right beside us, but the rice fields, pool, and peaceful surroundings far out weighed this incovenience.
I do feel that the 21% taxes should already be included in the stated rate on Agoda, as the steep Bali tax really increases the base price, not just of this hotel but of everything in Bali. That being said, the hotel does provide complimentary rides to and from town, wherever you want to go, and pick ups so the inconvenient location is less of an issue. Dewa is very open to constructive advice for improvements, and get issues resolved quickly, like a plugged drain. All bungalows are two storey with bathrooms down a flight of 12 stairs, so if mobility is an issue be aware of this.
Breakfast is delicious, and variety is very good, however other meals need improving, service is prompt and always with a smile.
Overall we loved the tranquility of the rice fields, the lovely wildlife sounds to wake up to and go to sleep by, and having a massage on our terrace was also a wonderful experience. If we return to Bali, we will definately stay again,

Room Tip: Pool side is great, just check on construction situation first, nice and close to reception and grea...
