We stayed here for our honeymoon and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautifully laid out with rooms tucked away to provide your with privacy and also with a sense that the hotel is actually smaller than it appears.

The staff are very professional, helpful and very attentive. I particularly liked how pool staff would magically appear with a glass of iced water. The breakfast is of good made-to-order quality and provides a good spin in more traditional breakfasts (i.e. pumpkin pancakes, Indonesian fry up etc)

There are also some good restuarants within walking distance.

Only negative is that you will need to take transport/ taxi to the centre of Ubud -so it gets a bit tiresome having to take taxis all the time. The shuttle bus does not run as often as it could do.

Tip: do not book a taxi from the hotel directly who charge an additional 35% but just walk out of the hotel where there will be several offers from drivers as soon as step out

even though i traveled here nearly a year ago, had to write and highly recommend this hotel. it is somewhat removed from the downtown ubud area, but secluded, peaceful and beyond stunning. the property is sort of scattered around a pool/lounge area, which allows for some privacy. the rooms have high ceilings, beautiful marble floors and balconies overlooking jungle ravines. the food was probably the best I've had at any hotel, and the staff were fantastic. massage was outstanding. suasta was our guide for a day of seeing temples and fields across the area, and was entertaining as well as informative. if you're going to ubud, you have to check this place out.

After reading the reviews on Uma we were quite impressed and this place turned out to be more than we expected. From the moment we arrived there was an element of calm and peace, no big crowds of tourists, no luggage porters with their trolleys, just a comfortable sized open air reception with a view to the serene swimming pool. What a way to start our holiday. Check in was fluent, we were greeted by a genuine smile from the lovely reception staff, no delay no hassles, and before we knew it we were being escorted to our pool suite. We walked around the manicured gardens and pool and not far from that was our beautiful single level room, the pictures online don't justify this spacious and light filled accomodation, and to be there in person was even better. Every aspect of our room catered towards personal convenience and a home like feel, ie. wifi, universal power sockets, air conditioning, satellite tv, in room safe with power socket inside, movement activated light for night time, and a straw shopping bag is provided which you can use whilst market shopping or when walking around the grounds.
The best part of Uma Como was the attention to detail, from having our rooms cleaned twice a day, being greeted by our first name by staff members (Babak Lindsey and Ibu Sam), to having a cold glass of water served to you by the pool without even asking for it, and staff by the pool will walk by to check if you needed more. A true touch of top class service with a friendly smile. Our only regret was that we came here first, we should have visited the big resort and ended our trip here. However, at least we were blessed to have stayed here.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff, you were great and very helpful when needed, especially when my partner got sick and we needed medicine, the lovely staff member from front desk organized transport togo to the pharmacy and offered a doctor to visit, we truly appreciate it!!! Special thank you to Wita and Ayu.

This was our first ever visit to Bali so we weren't sure what to expect. Also we were travelling with our three daughters aged 11, 7 and nearly 2 which made me even more nervous.

But as soon as we arrived at Uma by Como I felt relaxed and taken care of. Our room was a brand new pool suite and yes the private pool was cold so we didn't use it often but the hotel pool was one of the best pools ever! The indoor outdoor shower was wonderful, the beautiful baby cot supplied came with a gorgeous mosquito net and we enjoyed relaxing on our patio.

Breakfast was superb! And if I needed some watermelon for my fussy two year old and it wasn't on the buffet table it was no problem, they just brought us some. Or if I wanted a non breakable cup with a straw, or hot chocolate for my girls, or bread to feed the beautiful koi fish. Nothing was too much trouble.

This might be disappointing for some people but Uma is a great place for parents who always travel with their children but would still like luxury and excellent service. They have high chairs, a kids menu and a section of the pool is shallow for kids so even though there are a lot of stairs and you need to keep an eye out for young children it was a great experience for them.

Although some of the adult guests obviously did not appreciate us being there. We tried to shush our girls around the pool but really they are on holiday and not shouting just playing and actually using the pool not just staring at it in exasperation.

The location is ideal with lots of child friendly restaurants nearby, we especially enjoyed the Chinese one as we could sit on cushions and eat while watching the world go by on their scooters, and their food was delicious and very cheap! They also looked after my toddler and showed her the fish while weate, what bliss!

We also used a babysitter and it was just so easy to organise at a moment's notice and she was great and very affordable.

I didn't realise how spoilt we were at Uma until we went to a much larger hotel at Nusa Dua. Ubud and Uma by Como really crept into our hearts and I would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Pool suites are spacious and come with a study area which can be used as an extra room.

Uma use to be a romantic hotel for couples. Now it has more families with screaming children. Children screaming at breakfast and in the pool. Very hard to relax. Too many changes. The breakfast use to be so peaceful and lovely. Now it feels like a train station with the buffet in the middle and all the tables squeezed together.
Looks like a bus was unloaded with people from Kuta now. Guys walk around barefoot with their singlets on. What happened Uma? Are you purposely trying to lower your standards just to make more money?
You use to have less waitstaff and better service. Now the breakfast room is full of waitstaff but the service is nothing like it use to be. What you had before was unique, personalized and so special. Why do hotels and restaurants always feel the need to fix what isn't broken to begin with? Take it from someone who knows how amazing Uma & Kemiri use to be like, go back to what you had before it's too late.

Dear Hua M,

Please allow me to sincerely thank you for returning to Uma and sharing your recent experience.

I am very much saddened to know that we could not meet your expectation on your recent stay with us. I am terribly sorry that your relaxing time at the resort was disturbed by the presence of children. We will learn from this to ensure we properly control the number of children staying with us. We will also look into the opportunity to create children activity to ensure our young guests are being taken care of and at the same time giving the upmost relaxing holidays for the rest of our guests. We will learn from your feedback and improve to ensure we keep providing our guests with genuine personalized service.

Once again, thank you so much for sharing your experience and feel free to contact me directly in future so I can personally assist you with anything you need in case your travel plan brings you back to Bali again.

We have been travelling in Bali quite some times and tried many different hotels and B&B's. We expected a lot from this place, but were a bit disappointed. Uma is a beautiful place and they put a lot of effort in the decoration, with success. Also the food is really fabulous! We eat in the italian restaurant, the pool bar and of course breakfast and every meal was a celebration! But the price quality relationship is not ok. The rooms are decorated in a beautiful minimalistic style and the shampoo, soap, etc. is fantastic. But the rooms (pool suite) don't have a view as you can see at the picture. There is a small pool but it's surrounded by walls and therefore there is no sun what makes the water too cold to enjoy spending time in the pool. Nice point here is that from the pool, you directly can enter the open shower and continue to the bathroom.
Another point that disappointed us was the staff. Luckily there were a few very nice people especially in the restaurants but at the front desk it was hard to find a smiling person and also we had to ask many times before things happened (eg placing an extra bed or asking to pick up the suitcases). Another not so nice surprise were the ants that we found in our bed in the evening, although the place was very clean, there are quite some little insects in the room. We found many places in Bali with better price/quality relation. I hope Uma will improve, because it would be a shame of the beautiful resort!

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view, don't go here!

Dear Aranka Z,

We are delighted that you have chosen to spend your family time with us at Uma by COMO, Ubud. I am glad that you enjoy the design and decoration of our room as well as our Cuisine. I am particularly grateful that you love our new Italian inspired restaurant - Uma Cucina.

However, I am sadded to know that you are disappointed with the view from our Pool Suite. I am terribly sorry that it was not described clearly to you at the time you made your reservations. We are still doing all our effort to beautify the gardens near the pool and hopefully when the plants have grown well, it will definitely make lots of different. It was also unfortunate that you couldn't see the alternative rooms and villas that we offered, which have fantastic views to the Wos River valley. It surprises me that you had unpleasent experience at our Front Desk which is very unlikely the character of our team. I truly appreciate your feedback and I am sure it will help us to improve.

Hope you will give us a second chance when your travel plan brings you back to Bali again and please contact me directly so I can personally assist you.

Kind regards,
Suteja

Uma was recommended to us by a friend who's lived in Ubud 10 years. From the moment of check-in I had a feeling it was going to be amazing, and it was - every detail. We were upgraded to a pool villa and it was stunning, tasteful, clean, spacious, etc. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The pool is great, and the food was so delicious and healthy. Of all this though, I'd have to say what makes this place stand out is the exceptional service. The staff is really friendly and accommodating without being overly solicitous or robot-like, if you know what I mean. I would definitely come back, and recommend to anyone.
