Really enjoyed a week at Uma Ubud. Room was well designed and spacious, service was excellent and food menu was well rounded with the highest quality. Daily yoga was awesome. And while the spa was good, it might be the most obvious outlier. It was a lovely design but small and with fairly limited offerings...so more like 4 stars vs the 5 stars I give rest of the resort.

The rooms were beautifully decorated, food was amazing, and the property an oasis. We tried both the Balinese and Italian restaurants - both were incredible and the poolside bar had a fantastic drink list. The complimentary yoga classes every afternoon were an unexpected bonus - great instructor and a beautiful setting overlooking the valley. We stayed in a standard room, with a veranda overlooking the valley, a bathtub, and an outdoor shower. The only area for improvement would be a little soundproofing in the duplex-style rooms - we could hear every whisper of our neighbors, not to mention other noises! But all in all, I would definitely stay here again.

This place is beautiful. The staff are amazingly helpful and even try and learn your name...nothing is too much for them. Our room was very well appointed particularly the bathroom which included an outside shower. The plunge pool had a lovely view across the valley.
The main pool was lovely to do a few early morning laps in. And strangely the Italian restaurant at the resort is really good. And the breakfast menu was amazing.
It's a lovely calm and tranquil place to spend a few days.

Room Tip: The pool villas are really nice

From the delicious breakfasts to the gorgeous rooms, attentive staff and absolute tranquility of this property, Uma Ubud felt like heaven on earth. The breakfast menu is small but delectable (you want to try EVERYTHING!); the bar food just the right combination of light yet substantial. The pizzas are possibly the nicest I've tasted outside of Italy (must be the air!)

I really enjoyed the meditation classes, the morning walks and the yoga classes (we did a combination of private and general classes).

The rooms were very comfortable - we stayed in a garden room - so made the most of the pool area as we didn't have a private pool. While the hotel was full, we never felt it was over-crowded or that we wouldn't be able to get a sun lounger on those days we decided not to go into town.

We took the shuttle to town frequently - a great service offered by the hotel - my only criticism would be that the last shuttle returned at 5pm, which was a little early. However, getting taxis back to the hotel was no trouble at all.

I loved every minute of our stay and will definitely be back!

Dear Mandy,

Thank you so much for your recent stay and for taking your valuable time to write a great review about Uma.

It is fantastic to know that you still felt the tranquility of the resort during our busiest time of the year and I am glad that you enjoyed your every minute at Uma. We are very humble to read that our Pizzas are possibly the nicest you have tasted outside of Italy. As a new establishment, it is very encouraging for our Cucina team.

Thank you for your feedback on our shuttle service which we will take it into consideration.

We look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

Finally, please allow me to wish you a very Happy New Year 2014, and we wish you all the best!

We spent 4 days at this lovely boutique establishment with the utmost beautiful surroundings, in a super comfortable and modern villa and manned by excellent staff. Just a 10 mins drive from the city centre, the hotel is situated in a mountainous forest area within a valley which is so picturesque. Our pool villa was intimate and lovely with a plunge pool that overlooked the forested area, a huge sunbed for lounging around (read a book or just enjoy nature), a cosy TV sitting area plus modern bathroom facilities (a bathtub and having both open-air and covered showers!). The breakfast menu was ample and tasty at Kemiri and the Italian food at Cucina was excellent. We had a romantic candle-light dinner at a small pavilion at Kemiri and was served the most mouthwatering dishes we had for a very long time - waygu beef, yellowtail salmon, grilled squid etc. And the staff - were superb. From the masseurs at the Spa, waiters at the restaurant, the yoga trainer, front desk staff ... everyone! Everyone addressed us by our names, greeted with smiles and saw to all our requests. This is what all hotels should be like.

Room Tip: We stayed in a pool villa and we loved it! It's very private with your own plunge pool.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience at Uma. It is very inspiring for us and motivating us to serve our guests even better. It was amazing how you described our Pool Villa which I shared with my reservations team as a sample on how we should describe the villa. I am glad that you enjoyed your villa, our food at both Kemiri and Cucina, our COMO Shambhala spa and most importantly you enjoyed the service from our team.

First, the room: We got the Pool Suite, it was fairly big but only had a single chair and a spartan desk but nothing else in the adjacent room, you couldn't sit on the bed due to the mosquito net (which you want to keep closed because due to the area, it's easy for bugs to get in the room). The bathroom was beautiful but open to the outside with the pool, so there was no way to make the bathroom airtight from the outside. It's actually quite nice usually, but when you are worried about bug bites, not as much.
I believe some rooms are not connected to the outside, so keep that in mind when you chose.
The AC/temperate worked great, the room was kept meticulous (free fruit and bottled water daily).
The grounds were very nice, the staff everywhere was absolutely fantastic, and the food was excellent too (including a cooked to order breakfast which was the best we had in indonesia).
Uma by Como is well located for sightseeing and not driving a much as if you were coming from the south, so it's a good base to be at.
Oh, and yes, I'm sorry for being a techy, they had really good reliable wifi (range, speed, and coverage). You shouldn't be spending all your time on the internet, but if you do use it, it worked much better than most places I've been at.

The management was also extremely receptive to the feedback I gave them (small things they could improve), and that's a huge plus in my book. They definitely do everything they can to make you happy, you can go without reservations.

Room Tip: Decide if you need the pool suite and really want a bathroom that is connected to the outdoors with...

Amazing service starting from the front desk, to the store, to the pool and bar staff, maintenance and especially the breakfast staff.

The bar food was absolutely fantastic and the breakfast menu the best we've ever seen. A smallish selection but extremely well selected and gourmet. Would beat any top restaurant/cafe brunch menu in Sydney and Melbourne (now I know that's a big call but it's true).

We had booked this hotel because the major ones were fully booked or extremely expensive and was going to be a 2 night stop over in Ubud. We were pleasantly surprised to have found a fabulous intimate boutique hotel and will definitely be back.

They were also very accommodating of our child, even though it was a primarily adult hotel.

Highly recommended if you're looking for great service and value.
