The Uma is quite something else from the moment you arrive in Uma Ubud you feel at one. The staff were amazing and genuine and nothing was too much trouble. We travelled for our Honeymoon and this was the perfect place to enjoy the first few days of our honeymoon( we stayed for four days before heading onto the Samaya, Seminyak). They offer Yoga overlooking the rice fields (Kelly went as it was the first day after we arrived and it was at 8am, I stayed in the massive bed) Breakfast was then down in a secluded spot with the large pool with some quite amazing fish this was the perfect spot the start the day! The Uma was great at taking us on a half day tour and our Guide Anun was brilliant, informative and did a great job in showing us some of the many artistic sides To Ubud as well as the Temples and the Volcano's The following day we went on a bike ride with Anun and this was and is a defo if you want to see and meet some of the most smiley people youn will ever meet. We passed through many Villages and in everyone all the kids would shout hello as we passed on the bikes and any one you engaed with a smile flashed one back as though you were a long lost relative! One old mans smile that lit up his face from a serious look to sheer joy when I caught his eye and smiled at him will stay with me forever..Well reccomend anyone doing this as you get to see a real part of Bali and it's quite an experience if you happen to run into a cremation ceremony which we did let alone being out amongst the lucious green of the rice fields. The room we had at the Uma was split on two sides by a open air reception/seating area with a water feature. The bedroom was very large and the bathroom on the other side of the reception was part open air which is what staying at the Uma is all about...It's different and with a modern twist it really does work. The Uma was great as part of a two stop as after such a long flight it gave us a chance to unwind and take in some of the culture as well as enjoying the spa facilities offered. Well worth doing a tour through the hotel as the guides speak good English and seem to have a real interest in making sure you get to see the best Quality that Ubud has to offer. If your unsure where to stay in Ubud this is without doubt one very cool, relaxed and amazing place to do just that!

We stayed at Uma Ubud following 7 nights stay at Bali Pavilions in Sanur, as the final part of our honeymoon.

We were greeted with refreshing cool flannels upon arrival, and were upgraded by the receptionist from a suite to a pool villa because we were honeymooners, which was such a lovely touch. The staff are so friendly.

Our suite wasn't quite ready when we arrived (1pm) so we sat in the pool/bar area, where we received a complimentary drink. We relaxed here until our room was ready, and I borrowed a book from their library which I read during our 3 day stay. The toilets just in this area are amazing - fresh clean towels, luxury toiletries, amazing!

Our suite was just beautifully decorated, white and fresh. The staff carried our luggage up and down so many steps without a complaint (and our cases were extremely heavy). They delivered a complimentary bottle of rose wine and a tin of chocolates too.

The bath was filled with water and rose petals...so inviting! We felt like royalty, it was just beautiful and cosy. Our view was of the jungle! We didn't get an awful lot of sun, maybe it was because we were so far into the jungle? We could have sunbathed in the main pool area but felt like we would be wasting having our own private space!

We didn't order any room service as it was pricer than where we had stayed previous, but there are a few local shops nearby. Housekeeping was excellent. Internet connection was brilliant, no problems with the speed. As it is located in the jungle, there was a lot of noise going on, which you soon learn to live with.

We stayed on a B&B basis, breakfast was a real feast, with so much to choose from on the menu. The fresh juices were delicious, everything was so freshly prepared, served by friendly staff.

Outside Uma Ubud, we didn't venture too far..although we ate a few times at Naughty Nuri's - a bbq restaurant which was fantastic. It's always busy but so worth the wait. We also ate at Miniami - a japanese restaurant, which was fantastic.

Fantastic resort, brilliant staff, no complaints (except mosquitos!).

After 18hrs of planes and transfers, this place was heaven! Great start to our honeymoon. I got a Garden room for me and my wife, I have been to many hotels across the world and this has got to be in the top 5. Great set up, lovely bathroom and small court yard.
The hotel itself is amazing, the restaurant boasts a get menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner with perfectly made cocktails.
The staff are very tentitive and polite and would bend over backwards to give you a comfortable stay.
I would stay here again and again!

An absolute bargain in Ubud. It has an amazing swimming pool and is in a wonderfully lush setting.
So close to the centre of Ubud but so far from any outside distractions.
The kemiri resturant serves sublime drinks and food with service to match.
The best place to stay in Ubud!

I have read so many good things about Uma Ubud and my experience really did not fail to meet the high expectation set for this place. We have a good bargain as a local and stayed there for 2 nights. The property is just as I imagined, tranquil and relaxing with a touch of style, although a bit on an eclectic side i.e. neither traditional nor minimalist style. But it is well forgiving as the level of service provided is truly high standard, we are locals usually encounter a different treatment on a fancy resort in Bali but not that we experienced this time. We booked on Terrace rooms, overlooking the beautiful Sayan terrace in a bit distant. The bathroom is huge and nice, with good amenities from COMO Shambala products. Trust me, the soap smells very nice that you definitely cannot resist bring it home. The pool seems nice however, it was raining most of the time during our stay hence we missed the experience. 'Kemiri' restaurant for breakfast is really another good thing about this hotel, I was eager to go there not only for the food but also to spend my time reading accompanied by a nice view over the property. Breakfast is a la carte style, quality and taste is at a high standard with fancy presentation and adequate portion as well. Location is a bit distant from the Ubud town but it wont be a problem during day time as an every 2 hours shuttle is always ready to drop and pick you up in front of the famous 'Ibu Oka' roasted pork restaurant. Also, 'Warung Nuri' is only crossing the road for you to enjoy their famous martini and BBQ Ribs. Overall a fantastic experience which I really want to repeat soon. Only hicks up was during check in time, asked to wait for nearly 45 minutes for the room to be ready although it has been well over 2.30 pm. Highly recommended.

Impressive place, very clean, luxury facilities (sport room, huge pool). Rooms are just amazing. Hotel locatd in the middle of the jungle and paddy fields (there is a complimentary 1 hour walk around the hotel every morning, very interesting).

Downsides : Restaurant and room service are a bit expensive (and not always worth it), and you have to walk 20 mn to reach the city centre (but you may easily take a cab for a few dollars).

A good place to stay though (since there are plenty of other not so expensive restaurants in Ubud).

The Uma is set about a 10minute car journey or a half-hour walk away from the centre of Ubud, but that is not to say that the location is a downside to this beautiful, holistic hotel. In fact when you see the views of the Tjampuan Valley from its yoga pavilion, or the iridescent paddy fields from your room, you'll realise that not being in the centre of town is a definite plus-point.
We had originally booked into a Garden Room, but we decided to downgrade ourselves to a Terrace Room to take full advantage of these views, and we were not disappointed. The Garden Rooms are bigger and their outdoor bathroom is breath-taking, but what you compromise in terms of space, you make up for with the scenery in the Terrace Room. And we liked the intimacy of the Terrace Room more. Apparently, room 20 is the one to go for, but this isn't first-hand information as this room was booked when we got there. Of course, if you have the mullah, just go for the Pool Suite.
In terms of the other amenities, the infinity pool is lovely and warm and it's a whole new experience swimming whilst surrounded by so many trees and bird-calls. The staff are highly professional and do all they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Due to the on-site Shambala Spa, the Uma is very in tune with its chakras, and the food at the restaurant (surrounded by a Koi-carp pond!) is all organic and there are daily activities such as morning walks through the paddy fields or daily yoga for free. There is a also a shuttle service every 2 hours from 9-5 into the heart of Ubud and back. The world-famous Mosaic restaurant is a 5min walk away and the Neka Art Gallery next door.
We liked the regard for Balinese tradition that was present throughout the Uma, from its obvious architectural influences to the 3 onsite shrines, where if you wake up early enough you can witness quiet morning prayers. The wife was a little averse to the abundance of wildlife (though I loved it), so if you're not a creepy-crawly fan than maybe you should reconsider. Actually saying that, if you're not a big fan of the insects and frogs, you really shouldn't be coming to Ubud (set in a rainforest) at all! We really enjoyed our stay at the Uma Ubud, and would definitely recommend it to our friends, but just a small note to say that there are some truly stunning hotels in Ubud so do your research well as places like the Alila or Ibah are just as beautiful. Of course, if yoga and an amazing spa are essential aspects of your stay, then look no further.
