We are not into art to any great extent, but enjoyed the comprehensive display. We were surprised that we filled in two hours without any difficulty

“Comprehensive collection of classical and contemporary Balinese Art”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 via mobile

Being a collector of Indonesian contemporary art, I have longed admired the unique style, composition of Balinese art and the talented artist who created them. At Neka museum, featuring a comprehensive and nicely curated collection, I was able to appreciate all the beautiful Balinese art by both classical as well as contemporary Balinese artists such as Nyoman Gunasa. What makes Neka special is that you get to admire Balinese art in its original source - Ubud where the artists drew inspiration from over the ages and you get to see the evolution and progression of Balinese art from the traditional composition depicting village ceremony and life in intricate illustrations to the dynamic expressive style of contemporary Balinese artist, expressing the soul and beauty of Ubud, it's spirit , culture , history and heritage in vibrant brush strokes and vivid colors. Certainly a MUST VISIT for lovers of Indonesian and Balinese art.

“Balinese art old and new”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

The price of the entry ticket is far too much but the gallery itself is marvellous. You can wander through the different rooms taking in the old artworks with their unique style and on to modern paintings. It gives you the impression that the natural world, the spiritual world and our human condition are major forces in the minds of the artists. A lovely reflection of Balinese culture.

“Interesting assortment of art”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

Interesting museum showing artwork that probably won't survive very long due to the fact that this place isn't climate controlled. Best to take a long then head across the street to Naughty Nuri's for some great BBQ!
