We booked in booking on price and rating. When arrived it appeared it's a family compound you're sleeping. Location is good, 2 min walk to the shops. Rooms are very clean, wifi available, airco and a nice bed. The grandfather has been a chef, and Cooke on request for you, ask the rijsttafel! Nice breakfast and very kind people.
Booked a room for 10 days, having seen the raving reviews on another website.
Room was nice & clean, an attached bathroom with hot/cold shower and strong wifi. It's perfect for solo/2 people traveling together.
Breakfast was included in my package - simple & yummy (I love the omelette & pancakes), and Papa is more than happy to whip up lunch or dinner for you if you feel lazy to go out or get a case of Bali belly (in my case!) and need something warm and nourishing.
The place is on a side road off of Hanoman St, but just a few minutes is enough to reach it. So it's nice & quiet. Coco's Supermarket is a leisure 5min walk away and you can get all the amenities you need there. There's also a nearby laundry service which is very reasonably priced.
It's literally just a walk away from many cafes/restaurants (Dirty Duck Diner is about 10min, there's a warung that sells yummy organic vegan food just 5min walk away in another direction)... Monkey Forest Road starts about 7min away.
It's within a local Balinese family's home, so if you're looking at a hotel-like environment, this might not be your cup of tea. But for a real experience of Bali & Balinese hospitality, I would encourage you to stay at Bale Bali House. The family is warm & welcoming - you can always have a chat with them, find out about their lives, Bali & its culture. Koming (the owner) was a champ and super duper helpful & quick to respond to my questions online prior to visiting, which reassured me as it was my first time in Bali & alone.
There's also a range of services & tours offered - I would advise to check in & pre-arrange any tours/classes/services before you fly if possible, as he juggles between running Bale Bali & his other job, so it's good to get all the nitty-gritty details sorted out first. Papa used to be a chef so if you're into cooking classes, that's something you might want to check out.
The neighbor's chickens sometimes decide to crow at the oddest of hours but it's pretty muffled. Not at all like the noise that visitors who've stayed in other places have complained about. I personally slept like a baby but if you're super sensitive to noise, bring some ear plugs.
