A lot of good things have been said about Tegal Sari hotel but we felt compelled to write this review because of the unforgettable stay we experienced at Tegal Sari.

We stayed three nights (Mar 12-15) at Tegal Sari in super deluxe room no. 33. Room was spacious (big enough for the three of us), clean, with two very comfortable beds on the ground floor facing the spectacular view of the rice paddies. It's quiet, peaceful and so tranquil. We have never felt so relaxed, we had our best sleep from our holiday there! We did order room service and was very impressed with reasonable priced meals from hotel restaurant (Abian), served with a smile within 35 to 45 minutes and was excellent! Staff was super friendly, helpful and eager to please. It's a home away from home for us!

If you are looking for a place to stay, nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of Ubud, yet close enough to walk to some Ubud's places of interest and dining then look no further because Tegal Sari is truly a wonderful place to stay in Ubud!

The only thing that could be improved is the reservation system. It would be nice if Tegal Sari has online booking capability with instant confirmation instead of emailing back and forth. However is neither here nor there. As long as you plan ahead and do not book at the last minute you should be fine.

Two thumbs up and highly recommended! We will come back and stay longer next time!! :O))

I stayed here in 2010 and in 2013. Both times were amazing. Great location over looking the rice paddies and walking distance to the centre of Ubud. The staff cant do enough for you. Their food is cheap and fantastic.
This is the best value for money of any hotel Ive ever stayed at.
While the booking system is a little painful, I can definitely recommend this hotel and will be back again.

If you are going to soak up a bit of cultural Bali with a trip to Ubud, this place is a great hotel to choose. its close enough to walk to the monkey forest (but not so close as to hear them from the hotel). The rooms are clean and spacious. Stayed in deluxe with a spectacular view from on the terrace of the room. Terrace also has a table where they will serve breakfast too.

Good local food in the restaurant (although service not the speediest). Used their car service to go to a restaurant a ways out of town and they were reliable and on time for pick up.

And the room itself was a complete bargain! i tried their affiliated spa for a foot massage after a day of tourism and it was heavenly

Tegal Sari lived up to the reviews from the forum. We have already looked into going back in 6 months! We stayed in a Super deluxe room on the ground floor and it was spacious and had beautiful views of the rice fields as do all the rooms. We had a look in the wooden rooms and they were really nice too so will try for one of them next time.
It is in a good spot. Close to everything but quiet. The pool is not very big but its nice and not crowded. The gym is outside under a traditional pergola as is the massage tables.
The staff are the hotels biggest asset. They go above and beyond for their guests. Breakfast isn't included but we ordered from their restaurant and had it delivered to our room. It wasn't very expensive and was nice. We would sit out on the terrace and watch the monkeys in the distance.
We asked them to arrange a scooter for us and they got us a brand new one. $5 AUS a day. Perfect!
The only tiny thing that was a bit annoying is that you could hear the people upstairs at all hours of the night moving chairs and walking around. If this is a problem for you, book an upstairs room.
If you stay here include the Morning Journey Walk through the rice fields and jungle trek. You are taken in a van to a village about 30 minutes away. We planted a tree and went to a traditional Balinese house and had lunch included all for about $20 AUS. Bargin!
Highly recommended and can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Rooms downstairs can be a little noisy from people up top. Wooden rooms are amazing but hard to get...

Initially stayed in Super Deluxe room overlooking rice fields which was very nice. Hotel moved us to Deluxe room on ground floor which had a poor bathroom (uneven floor and cleanliness). Door did not close tightly which allowed bugs to enter. Was going to stay longer but would have needed to change rooms daily due to their reservation system. We asked the hotel to mail 3 postcards which had correct postage per the local post office. At checkout we were charged 38,000 rupiahs on bill for postage. Also very large markups on laundry, restaurant meals, etc.

This was my second stay at Tegal Sari, last year my daughter and I stayed in the Super Deluxe room which was just beautiful, this year I visited with two friends so we had 1 Double and 1 Twin Deluxe. Whilst these rooms were obviously not of the same standard as the Super Deluxe they still offer great value for money with quality beds and bed linen, beautiful views and of course great attention by the wonderful staff at Tegal.
Meals and drinks can be ordered to rooms or the pool area, or you can eat at the cafe near Reception or their restaurant on Monkey Forest Rd and water dispensers are dotted around the property to fill your bottles.
A free shuttle service is available to and from town with 15 minutes notice.
Tegal Sari is my "home" in Ubud, I would definitely recommend it, but be advised to book well in advance as their popularity does mean you may not always get a booking

Room Tip: Super Deluxe at around $60 a night is beautiful, however the deluxe at $30 still offers amazing valu...

Stayed in Wooden Deluxe room for 4nights (wished we stay longer!) for my anniversary holiday, prebooked 3 months earlier.

Everything is excellent, from the location, spectacular rooms with breathtaking paddy fields view, polite and very helpful staffs, good services, there's not one thing that is not good about this hotel.

For me the rates are very cheap compared to what they offered, it's a 5 stars accomodation all the way!
They are also very clear about every payment, there's receipts for each service we took with all the calculations and taxes written down.
There were construction on the next building but they try to minimalise the noise as much they possibly can. And we were out during the day, by the time we came back the construction works already stopped.

Paddy field-view pool is nice, you can have your Balinese massage at the gazebo next to it, there an open air gym as well! They also provided free water dispenser that can be found everywhere.
Restoran Enak next door served the most delicious, crispiest Fried Duck (Bebek Goreng) in town! There's free shuttle service for travel within the town, any time! Just call them 15mins prior pickup. For longer distance, you can rent car with driver at a reasonable price, or, like us, we rented a motorbike! Weee~

We would like to thank Ida, Balang, Komang and all the other hotel staffs (sorry I forgot your names!) for making our 1st wedding anniversary so sweet and memorable.
Will definitely came back again and recommend this place to others.
