“There is nothing not to love about Tegal Sari!”

This is our 4th trip to Ubud in the last 5 years and our 4th stay at Tegal Sari. We love it. We stay in a super deluxe room each time overlooking the rice paddies. The rooms are clean and have everything wee need including mosquito coils, bottle opener/glasses for drinks on the verandah. The location is surprisingly quiet and fantastically situated for eating out and enjoying all Ubud has to offer. One of the biggest draw cards for us are the people at Tegal Sari; they are a cut above anywhere else we have stayed. They are so polite, happy and helpful. The hotel will drive guests into the heart of Ubud(traffic permitting as it can get crazily busy during the day) and will quite happily pick you up after dinner if required. We ask for ice to be delivered to our room each evening about 5 pm and have had dinners and tennis courts booked for us, nothing is too much trouble.
And, Tegal Sari is brilliant value.
We will be back again next year. Terima kasih Tegal Sari.

Room Tip: Super Deluxe rooms

I was there to stay for 1 night only before continue the trip to Nusa Dua, and rent 2 types of rooms (Deluxe and Superior). Both rooms was good, spacious and clean. Most of decorations is wooden made and classic. Surrounding by gardens, rice fields and small ponds, makes the
atmosphere fresh, cool and of course there were lot of mosquitoes. The staff putted a jug look-alike inside room beside door that emit a distinctive scent which believed can get rid off mosquitoes. And surprisingly it was work. No mosquitoes!!

Breakfast package not included but you still can buy breakfast with cheap price and various menu with an OK taste. The staffs were very polite and friendly. Check-in was fast and smooth. Hot water was running good. No TV. Overall this is a great experience for having a night in the hotel "village".

Room Tip: All rooms is GREAT

This is one of our regular stays. It's an older hotel and could do with a refurb, but for $70 per night for 2 people you cant go wrong. The location is great and the rooms are very clean.

We normally get rooms #19,21 & 23 (these have a great view). They are the closest to the monkey forest exit and are all ground level (if you want upstairs go #20, 22 & 24). The food is great and very cheap, try the banana pancakes.

The staff are all wonderful and very friendly. And the most important thing the beds are really comfy. There are a few reviews saying that they have had trouble booking and getting incontact with reservations. If this happens to you just give them a quick call you'll have no problems. There is a laundry not far up the road and the supermarket across from this.

We have already booked our next trip. Happy travelling :)

Room Tip: #19 - #24 are all at the monkey forest exit.

We stayed at the Tegal Sari for 3 nights in July as a family of 4. 2 adults and 2 kids aged 3 and 8. It was our first time in Bali and we wanted to see the cultural rather than party element of the island. The Tegal Sari was a good choice for a place to base ourselves.
We chose the super deluxe garden room, which was nice. It's a plain room but in with its own beautiful garden. It had a queen bed and a single with a tiny sofa which we turned into the 3 year olds bed as the others were too high off the ground.
They provide mozzie coils and the mini bar prices are the same as the local shops. Breakfast was good and a reasonable but not cheap price. We ate it on our patio in the mornings. The pool is small and over looks rice fields but as it is mostly shaded it was pretty cold but a nice place to sit.

The location I thought was a little bit too far out of the main town but we did use the hotel car to drop us at the beginning of the ridge walk for no charge. We also got the hotel to collect us and drop us at the airport which was useful and again a pretty competitive rate.

we did also book a day out with the hotels car. We asked to go to Ganung Kawi and the rice terraces. Unfortunately this is where it went a little wrong for us. The driver suggested we went to,the holy water temple. We said no but ended up there anyway. It was a nice place to visit so thT want too bad. We also visited the rice terraces but then suddenly arrived back in Ubud without seeing Gunung Kawi. when we asked what happened the driver then said he didn't think our kids could manage the steps.. Er.. Ok but that's not what we had paid for. We then got charged for an extra hour by the hotel as the car was by the hour. Not impressed really with our day.

As we were checking out my 3 year old also fell over quite badly on the steps of the room and landed in the table. this resulted in a sore and upset child and a broken ash tray. The staff were great at helping patch him up but when we got the bill we had been charged for the ash tray. it wasn't a large amount and I don't dispute paying but it left a bit of a sour taste to the end of our stay. Especially as a light on our room remained broken the entire time we were there.

Would I stay again? Probably not as there did seem to be other nice places that we passed but it is a nice play to stay at a reasonable cost.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights during 25-29 January 2014, and it was fantastic!!!

The hotel itseld was located at the quiet area, you can reach Ubud Market area around 20-30 mins by foot ( actually depends on your speed). The room we booked was the Wooden Deluxe located on the second floor, one extra bed was set up at the terrace. The bedroom was large and comfortable. Our room number 22 provided the very fantastic greenery view!! We felt so relax and refresh and ... oh i dont know how to explain, imagine you can enjoy your breakfast on the terrace with the green view, fresh air and blue sky, thats wonderful, isnt it?

We tried two times the hotel restaurant on the back of the hotel, the food was nice with reasonable price.

Staff always smiled to us and greeted us every time we met., dont worry to communicate with them, their English was well enough to make your stay enjoyable and relaxable.

When we arrived, we got picked up by hotel car, nice driver who loved to give you information of Bali. However, we also rent a private car with driver for Bali sightseeing, so totally 4 days we did not have enough time to see much Ubud itself. If we would have a chance to go back, with the price we paid and what we have got, we will definitely stay here again !!!

Room Tip: I booked this hotel 7 months in advanced to make sure I would get the room i want, and the view i wo...

It's our 6th time stay at tegal sari, and have tried almost all room types ( except superior room I guess). During our last visit we tried sesapi villa downstairs and nyalian suite that is located at new building and still enjoy every moment. We are ubud frequent traveller and had tried some other similar property and end up withh keep returning to this place.

Booked this place due to the many great reviews of this hotel and it didn't disappoint.
Good size room for a family of 4 (super deluxe), clean and great view plus a fridge in the room so you always had your own stack of cold drinks. Free water refill. Umbrellas available to use, which can be really needed.
Good little pool, not huge but big enough for the kids to enjoy themselves.
A good little outdoor gym with weights.
Free shuttle to and from the center of Ubud if needed.
