“a piece of paradise”
Reviewed 1 March 2011

My husband and i recently spent 4 days at Ubud Village Resort and Spa. As frequent travellers to Asia, we have come to expect nice hotels and excellent service but this resort was just gorgeous. it ticked all the boxes for archtecture, setting, space, beauty, romance, peace, privacy, valiue, and attentive service. It was heavenly.
Our palatial Garden Villa oozed classical Balinese old-world charm. We had a huge 4-poster bed; a private pool with oudoor shaded pavillion ; indoor and outdoor showers; an outdoor bath; a dining table for in-villa dining, tropical gardens, fish ponds and serenity, all in a private walled compound.
Ours was one of only 25 similar villas dotted around 11 acres of picture-perfect lawns, lotus ponds, rice paddies and palm trees. With full occupancy of only 60 and such spacious grounds its no wonder that at times we felt like we were the only guests there.

The beautiful Angkul-Angkul restaurant overlooks the gardens, the neighbouring rice fields and a stunning u-shaped pool. Large pavillions at the front of the restaurant beckon you to while away the afternoon with a cocktail, a good book or simply a snooze. Another cafe above the pool hosts an afternoon tea of traditional Balinese sweets and snacks( free for guests).
Yoga classes which are held in the open- air meditation area beside the pool are enhanced by the peaceful ambience of the surroundings.
I can recommend the wonderful aromatherapy massage (and the herbal tea of fresh ginger, pandanus and lemongrass) at the Kama Karanna Spa.
It's just a short shuttle ride ( free) into central Ubud to enjoy the town's attractions. The resort also organises some good treks for visitors.
Ubud Village Resort must be one of the most beautiful resorts on Bali.So quiet and peaceful. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a relaxing holiday without the crowds. We will definitely be back again. ( check out the video on You Tube!)

We visited Bali for just 4 days and wanted to visit the Cultural and Arts center instead of the beach. The Villas were great. Very private setting with private pool in each Villa. Once per hour van to town works well although you may not want to leave since the grounds are so beautiful. The pictures on the website don't do it full justice as the surrounding rice paddies are wonderful. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Finally, we hired a wonderful driver for our stay: Made Adi Suasta; adisuasta.imade@yahoo.com whom I strongly recommend.

I have stayed at Ubud Village Resort & Spa twice in the last year, and must admit that each time I was overwhelmed with the beauty and service. Each time, I rarely saw other residents and wonder where they make their money! Beautiful ricefields, and the loudest noise I heard was the gentle 'swoosh, swoosh' of gardners cleaning the grounds. The food is exceptional and I felt I had great value for money. Also a great resturaunt right across the road, serves magnificent local food with a spectacular veiw at crazy cheap prices.
One day, it rained hard, and our complimentary shuttle driver drove all around Ubud to try find our companions who had left without umbrellas. How nice is that? Also, one of our party turned 18 while we were there and 4 staff members surprised us (in a tropical downpour) with a delicious mud cake and rendition of Happy Birthday.
For price paid for airfares and hotel, I would never be able to have such a glorious holiday locally. Can not say enough good things about this faciility and honestly have nothing bad to report.

The resort is simply the best place I ever stayed in. Me and my partner spent 2 night in ubud village. There is absolutely nothing can go wrong here. The villa was fantastic, very spacious and luxury. The staff was very responsive and kind. They treat us very well and smooth, from the minute we checked in until the minute we checked out. we spent our day on the bale beside the private pool in the villa and it was very relaxing. We had dinner on the other night, I had the snapper and my partner had the lamb rack and the food was fantastic. The ambience of the restaurant was very warm at night and I can say the service was world class. We will definetely come back to this resort and stay a little longer so we can try the spa.

I wanted a villa that could accommodate single 3 adults and I also wanted the service of a top class hotel. From the moment we entered the lobby, we were treated as special guests and the villa we were assigned exceeded all our expectations. It was a deluxe villa overlooking the magnificent gardens and the main pool. We could see out, but no one could see us. The villas are spacious, luxurious and private. The rooms are clean, light and lovely polished wooden floors that shine. We had a large indoor shower, an outdoor shower and a sunken bath all looking onto totally private ponds and vegetation. There are 2 bales outside by the private pool and and separate kitchen/ pool bar. toilet. The villa was well cleaned and very comfortable The breakfasts each morning were faultless. A great choice including smoked salmon, eggs benedict, omelets to order or Japanese . Homemade jams and breads accompanied every meal. The staff had no problem understanding a few special needs. We looked forward to breakfast every day, watching the ducks in the rice fields. WE ordered lunch in a couple of times and it was surprisingly inexpensive for a 5* hotel.
All views from the hotel are gorgeous, the whole place oozes serenity.
We used the shuttle regularly and despite not being in the main drag, the hotel is still only a few minutes drive from Monkey Forest Rd. The driver would often take us a little further than the main route. Nothing was too much trouble.
I will certainly be returning to the Ubud Village Resort this year.

This hotel is amazing, and absolutly beautiful. The grounds are stunning, set in the rice patties and the villas are huge and beautifully decorated - we had flower pettles on arrival such a great idea! The staff were very helpful and accomidating. We got an upgrade to the best villa and this just topped off a great trip.

We got a package that included a candle lit dinner, massage and cooking class (plus much more) and these were great, and made the price well worth it!

If you are looking for a private relaxing trip will all the bells and whistles- this is it!!

I have stayed in Ubud on 4 occasions in the past 2 years, and as a single traveller I look for friendly staff and security. The Ubud Village Resort provided both and more.
The villa with private plunge pool was spacious and private. The bed was King size and comfortable, with an insect net. All the room facilities were clean. The outdorrs still had a Balinese feel with a slight rustic, jungle ambience. The staff were efficient and helpful.
Other hospitable additions is the afternoon tea served near the pool, which was delicious and varied every day. The breakfast was the only disappointing thing, which is probably a bit harsh, but it took forever, and although the outlook was gorgeous over the rice paddies, it was fairly warm, so I didn't need to linger over an hour.
Back to the good bits- the shuttle service was great and very handy to Monkey Forest Rd, to the shops and bars.

I can easily recommend this Resort to couples, for privacy and quiet and peacful surroundings.
